ISSUE # 02 Concept ofPISCES the month: Chimera SZN Feminine | Mutable | Water | “I dream” “Each season we’ll go beyond the clichés of a zodiac sign, and explore the unique perspective we can all discern by observing its archetypal energy.” I’m sensitive and emotionally driven and so I hadn’t expected to feel so out of my depth this Pisces season. It’s taken me feeling adrift this week to understand things about Pisceans I had previously trivialised. As a Virgo dominant (opposite sign to Pisces), I was unwittingly hubristic in thinking I have a better approach to everything: practical, grounded, detailed, reliable, concrete. What I had not considered is that all that earthy shxt means nothing underwater. Different world, dif- ferent rules. So here we are. Pisces energy is the deluge you saw coming and now everything is porous. This is the dark watery womb; a closed system of connection where what you eat feeds me, and what I feel reveals itself on the terrain of your body. Yesterday I didn’t see or really speak to the friend I live with, and yet I dreamt about a film I didn’t know she was watching, and saw spirits I didn’t know she had been writing and thinking about. Not until I messaged her at 4am. This cross over of consciousness is not unordinary in Pisces energy, because there is no separation at sea. No hard boundaries. Water conducts, absorbs, dissolves, diffuses... In this respect, Pisces rules the collective consciousness, because she is most aware of how networked we all are. In context, the emotional enmeshment I’ve resented Pisces for makes all the sense in the world. Try getting into a pool and telling someone this - as you point to it - is your piece of water. Ludicrous. The idea of possession or separateness are null in the Pisces world. The fact is, even to other water signs, Pisces is living in a different plane of experience to the rest of us. It’s not the powerful waves of emotion that typifies Cancer, or the swallowing oceanic depths of Scorpio. Pisces is the contents of the amniotic sac or the spinal fluid. She is much more to do with the unquantifiable source of life itself. This is where Pisces dreaminess comes from, and consequently where all our nightmares go to avoid being vanquished by hope. Chimera, def noun a hope or dream that is extremely unlikely to come true; (in Greek mythology) a fire-breathing female monster with a lion’s head, a goat’s body, and a serpent’s tail. The concept for this month is “Chimera”, because to me it represents the collective wound of longing that Pisceans are so sensitively attuned to. Ruled by Jupiter and Neptune, Pisces has the faith and intuitive knowing that when we break PAGE # 5 PAGE out of the mundane parameters of our individual lives, everything and anything is possible in the vast expanse we are orbiting through. They are the unicorns of the zodiac, the sign concerned with all things magical. As demonstrated in their signifier “The Hanged Man” tarot card, it is when we are lowered – through birth – into the density of life that we are Concept of the month: Chimera ISSUE # 02 PISCES SZN Feminine | Mutable | Water | “I dream” forced to sacrifice our divinity. We can see this card as a riff on the story of Jesus the Christ. I.e. god divorced of its sanctity and clothed in flesh, made to suffer and die. In life, we face the contradiction of being beautiful creative spirits subject to limitation, restriction, oppression and powerlessness. If “chimera” is a thing strongly desired which we feel only eludes us, then fundamentally it refers to our desire to be elevated into love and completeness. A Piscean’s only answer to this is to slip in and out of this experience. At their most dis-empowered they are addicted, irresponsible, escapists. At their best they are (I wanted to write “love” because of the Aaliyah lyric), zen or sublime. The mastery of The Hanged Man, and consequently of this season, is to simultaneously hold awareness of the multiple planes of existence not as separate realities, but deeply interwoven. Pisces season calls us to metaphysical action (explore this motif further on page 16), to overcome the restriction, dis- tortion and discrepancy in the lives that are unfolding in “I’m at ease with not being in front of us. I think it is so beautifully apt that in Greek my- control - thology Chimera refers to a fire breathing female monster, with a lion’s head, goat’s body, and serpent’s tail. This is Piscean MANGO subscriber what unconscious pain can turn us into, and Pisces energy PAGE # 6 PAGE ” ISSUE # 02 has plenty of it to cope with, (a theme I pick up in our your peers or family members, because whilst we are “film in focus” on page 35). • Essential Dignity
Essential Dignity Essential dignity is a way of evaluating the innate level of development or refinement of each planet in the chart. Planets that have a lot of essential dignity are generally stronger, show more positive effects, are better integrated into the personality, and function more freely in their domains. Some modern astrologers give little credence to the rulerships, just as they fail to regard any planet as innately malefic or benefic. In surveying the history of astrology, this is evidently a great error. The rulerships are a seminal principle in astrology, and one on which a large proportion of interpretive work was based for thousands of years before the common era. Sign Rulerships The first consideration in assessing the essential dignity of a planet is to observe whether it is in a sign that it rules. Each planet rules two signs, except the sun and moon, which rule only one each. When planets are in the signs they rule, the expression of their energy is easy and has relatively free reign. You should imagine that the planets are literal rulers of their respective signs, which constitute their kingdoms. Rulers within their own kingdoms have the benefit of their own resources to execute their desires, provide for their protection, and distribute to other regions. Rulers in foreign lands are necessarily more vulnerable and subject to interference. This will become an important operative principle when we discuss dispositorship below. Planetary rulership of the signs falls within a pattern that is often little appreciated by modern astrologers. That pattern is illustrated in the following diagram: k j l 3 3 i 4 4 a 5 5 g b 7 7 h 8 8 c 9 6 f d e The sun and moon rule Leo and Cancer respectively.

Mercury: Rulership, Exaltation, Detriment and Fall Blog Article at http://freespiritedmind.com/mercury-rulership-exaltation-detriment-and-fall/ Accessed February 15, 2017 After taking a look in essential dignities of the Sun and the Moon in previous articles, we are continuing our series with exploring the Mercury’s rulership, exaltation, detriment and fall. Mercury rules both signs of Gemini and Virgo, and is also exalted in the last. Its detriment is in Sagittarius and Pisces, where also is its fall. The terms of rulership, exaltation, detriment and fall are also briefly explained, for readers that have not yet read the previous articles of the series. When a planet is positioned in the sign that it rules, it is considered to be in rulership or domicile. Its power is strengthened even more, and it can function with great effect, which usually has a very positive outcome to the native. Mercury is never appearing to be more than one sign from the Sun, in either direction; thus it is from the ancient years considered to rule the two signs on either side of Leo and Cancer: Virgo and Gemini. When diurnal, Mercury is ruling Gemini, while when nocturnal, he is domicile in Virgo. Both signs are strongly associated with the intellect, and when Mercury is present there he strengthens everything that has to do with the mind. As the planet is well dignified in this position, it creates a logician, a speaker and a searcher into all kind of learning. A person with his Mercury located in Gemini or Virgo can excel in being a merchant, or in any other way involved in marketing, sales or promotion of ideas or material objects.

  • Empirical Tests of the Leo Rising Decan
Working Paper on Astrological Physiognomy: Empirical Tests of the Leo Rising Decan © Regulus Astrology LLC, all rights reserved. April 16, 2010 August 20, 2011 minor updates. Abstract. Astrological sign- and decan-based rules for determining the shape of the face were applied to a sample of thirty-six horoscopes. Rules tested include aphorisms taken from traditional authorities as well as composite drawings from a contemporary sign-based model by John Willner. Horoscopes were selected with known Ascendants placed in the Leo rising decan according to the Hindu system. In a majority of cases, the Sun's influence as ruler of the rising decan was the dominant predictor of facial appearance. The Sun’s sign placement most accurately predicted the type of solar influence, not the Sun’s intrinsic nature. Placement of planets and/or Lunar Nodes in the Ascendant sometimes interfered with the ability of the Sun as ruler of the rising decan to predict the face. Sun’s placement in Cancer and Mercury-ruled signs produced the most consistent exceptions to the rule which ties facial appearance to the rising decan and its ruler. Decanal Iconography and Natural Materials in the Sacred Book of Hermes to Asclepius Spyros Piperakis N HIS POLEMICAL WORK against Christianity, written in 178, the Greek philosopher Celsus (in Origen C.Cels. 8.58) I wrote that according to the Egyptians every part of the human body has been put under the charge of 36 daemons or heavenly gods, whose names are invoked in times of sickness in order to treat the sufferings of their subordinate parts. Celsus assuredly is referring to the decans (Gk. δεκανός). In Egyptian astronomy the decans were single stars or clusters of stars which were used to mark the hours of the night and divide the 360-day Egyptian year into ten-day intervals, with the ex- clusion of the five epagomenal days.1 During the Ptolemaic period the 36 decans were assimilated into Hellenistic astro- logical doctrines and were assigned by threes to the twelve 1 On the decans of later times see the seminal work of O.
