If it was any other time of year these three and their boyfriends might be heading to a concert or bar, but it is Halloween which means that like everyone else they will be bound for Hell Fest – a sprawling labyrinth of rides, games and mazes that travels the country and happens to be in town. Every year thousands follow Hell Fest to experience fear at the ghoulish carnival of nightmares. But for one visitor, Hell Fest is not the attraction – it is a hunting ground. An opportunity to slay in plain view of a gawking audience, too caught up in the terrifyingly fun atmosphere to recognize the horrific reality playing out before their eyes. As the body count and frenzied excitement of the crowds continue to rise, he turns his masked gaze to Natalie, Brooke, Taylor and their boyfriends who will fight to survive the night. FALL 2020 LETTER FROM THE EDITOR Welcome, Greetings, Salutations and yI'el! Welcome to the Fall 2020 issue of the Ticonderoga newsletter. This issue finds the intrepid crew of the Ticonderoga once again boldly moving where only the foolish dare...among Dragons! Not only that, but we are going to explore our adventures among those whom we love to meet, who frequently bring dragons to life...the actors, authors, and artists that we've met and gotten their autographs!! This has been an unusual year with the world health issues having made it difficult to get out and enjoy conventions, films, or most any of the large gatherings that we all love so much. So this edition is going to help us live with our memories and share the times that we have had in the past meeting our celebrity crushes, while we look forward to the times in the near future where we will build new memories. “Lockhart'll sign anything if it stands still long enough!” — J.K. In the paper, I claim that Trek films have always had both positive and negative representations of women, and that ―NuTrek‖ fails and succeeds in ways that are different from but comparable to those of ―classic‖ Trek. I will devote the first half of my paper to Uhura‘s portrayal in Star Treks I through VI. The second half of my research will focus on the newest film, Star Trek (2009). I will attempt to explain the character‘s evolution as well as to critique the ways in which NuTrek featuring the Original Series characters manages to simultaneously triumph and fail at representing the true diversity of women. * my interpretation of how different characters can be ―read‖ as either positive or negative representations of gender; my own interpretation will be compared and contrasted with that of other Trek scholars, and I will be citing sources both in feminist literature and media studies literature (and some combinations) to back up my own conclusions about the films. -
