Dasso became PERSONAL: the seventh coach of the Fighting Illini Born: Feb. 12, 1979 after a tremendous playing and coaching Hometown: Long Grove, Ill. career at the University of Notre Dame. Hired: June 13, 2006 In just five short years, Dasso has made EDUCATION: huge strides with the women’s tennis Notre Dame, 2001 program. Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration-Marketing The 2010-11 Illini boasted two All-Big COACHING EXPERIENCE: Ten honorees, including Rachael White 2006-Present: Head Coach, University of Illinois (first team) and Amy Allin (second team). 2003-06: Assistant Coach, University of Notre Dame The Illini struggled early on but managed to finish the year 11-13. PLAYING EXPERIENCE: 2001-03: USTA Professional Circuit In the previous season, the Illini were 1998-2001: University of Notre Dame rewarded with their first top-25 finish in the final Campbell’s/ITA rankings since 2004, after making their third straight NCAA tournament appearance. PLAYING ACCOLADES: The Orange and Blue finished 15-10 overall, including nine wins over nationally ITA National Senior Player of the Year (2001) Four-time ITA All-American (Singles and Doubles, 1999 and 2001) ranked opponents and placed third in the Big Ten with an 8-2 mark. Two-time Big East Championship Most Outstanding Player (2000-01) Four-time Team MVP (1998-2001) In addition to her Illinois coaching duties, Dasso also served as coach for the Winningest Player in Notre Dame history - Singles (140 wins) fourth annual Master’U BNP Paribas for the second straight year. The international Notre Dame Athletics Francis Patrick O’Connor Award winner (2001) competition features the top collegiate players from around the world. Working Notre Dame Gladys Heldman Award winner (2001) alongside Boise State head coach Greg Patton, the duo guided the U.S. to a first- place finish with a 4-3 victory over France. It was the first-ever championship for history. She grabbed the ITA’s National Senior Player of the Year accolade in 2001, the U.S. in only its second appearance in the tournament. and is the program’s only four-time All-American.
