SPEAKER: Barry Barnhart, Paul Harris Fellowship Prizes Larry Zumstein Barry Barnhart spoke about the Paul Harris Fellowship and led a recognition of our club’s Paul Har- Greeters Schedule ris Fellows. Paul Harris was the founder of Rotary. He founded the first club with several business associates in Chicago in 1905. The Rotary Foundation was first set up as an endowment in 1917 with 12-18-13 Ted Fink and Julie Grice a gift of $26.50, and became a distinct entity in 1928. Contributions to Rotary International poured in 12-25-13 NO MEETING after Paul Harris’ death in 1947, and the Paul Harris Memorial Fund was created to build the Founda- 1-1-14 NO MEETING tion. Grants and scholarships in several different areas have been awarded ever since. $2.7 billion in 1-8-14 Doug Griffith and Dave Hafenbrack contributions have been received. Over 1.3 million people have been recognized as Paul Harris Fellows. These are individuals who have given at least $1,000 to the Annual Prizes Schedule Programs Fund or have had that amount contributed in their names. Rotary Leadership 2013-2014 District 6670 Paul Schultz was happy to have represented our club at the Rotary Club Rotary International President Ron D. Burton of Kettering’s 50th anniversary.
