SUMMARY CREDENTIALS: Kim is the president and principal preservation consultant of Landmark Consulting, founded in June of 2002. Kim received a Masters of Arts degree in Historic Preservation Planning from Cornell University and her work experience has included employment with the in Washington D.C. as a member of the technical research staff; the Boston Landmarks Commission overseeing preservation compliance in the nation’s largest Victorian-era historic district; and the Historical Commission (SHPO) as a part of the grants administration staff during an incredible state surplus period with $10million in grant projects. Her public-sector work has been balanced with a significant number of years working for prominent preservation architecture and planning firms in Boston, as well as with considerable grassroots advocacy efforts. Upon returning to New York, her consulting work has included numerous National Register nominations, historic structure reports, rehabilitation investment tax credit projects, cultural resource surveys, condition assessment reports and architectural services for State Environmental Protection Fund (EPF) projects. A great majority of her projects are funded by the Preservation League of NYS’s PreserveNY or T.A.G grants, NY Landmark Conservancy’s Sacred Sites Program, Heritage Preservation and the EPF, often as a result of her involvement in the grant proposal process.

In March 2010, Landmark Consulting was granted NYS WBE certification and in March 2011, the firm was organized as a Limited Liability Company (LLC). Landmark Consulting’s WBE status has been recertified twice since 2010.

With multiple funding sources between Federal, State, and Private grants and lending programs, Landmark Consulting is assisting not only in the technical construction administration of the project, but also in the documentation organization and fulfillment of various funding requirements. Historic Structure Report for Amsterdam City Hall, Amsterdam, NY (2012-2013) Conducted comprehensive research on a historic mid-19th century Second Empire mansion (Sanford Mansion) converted to a city hall facility in the early-20th century. Commissioned by the City of Amsterdam’s Urban Renewal Agency and funded by a PreserveNY grant from the Preservation League of New York State and New York State Council for the Arts. (NR listed)

Reconnaissance-Level Survey of the Delaware Area Neighborhood, Albany, NY (2011-2013) Hired by local non-profit and neighborhood association, Landmark Consulting surveyed a portion of the combined commercial and residential streets within the late 19th and early 20th century Delaware Avenue neighborhood with the intention of systematically documenting and evaluating the historic buildings for eligibility for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. This project was funded by a PreserveNY grant from the Preservation League of New York State.

Cultural Resource Survey & Recommendations for Treatment of the Buildings & Landscape at Saratoga Race Course, Saratoga Springs, NY (2010-2012) Working in collaboration with Martha Lyon Landscape Architecture, provided a full architectural and landscape study on the historical evolution and significance of this premier horse race course dating to the mid-19th century. Study was conducted prior to a master plan for rehabilitation and expansion of track structures and plans for the restoration of selected historic landscape features. Commissioned by Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation and funded by a PreserveNY grant, Arthur B. Solomon Charitable Trust and New York Racing Association. (Saratoga Race Course c.1847-1955). Hyde Hall State Historic Site, , Cooperstown, NY (1993, 2007-2009, 2011-2013) Long term involvement in the research and assessment of the unconditioned building’s recurring struggles with excessive humidity and moisture issues. Initially commissioned to produce the Historic Structure Report, and subsequent Conservation Assessment Report and Moisture Study and Remediation plan in conjunction with restoration planning and implementation. (Hyde Hall State Historic Site – designed by Philip Hooker, c. 1803-1835). (National Historic Landmark)

The Woman’s Club of Albany, Albany, NY (2008-2015) Architectural Design Services in collaboration with Preservation Architecture for the Restoration of the West Bay & North Porch (roofing, windows & masonry) as well as New Accessible Restroom for project funded in part by the State Environmental Protection Fund, The Community Foundation of the Capital Region, and DASNY. Produced Concept Design Study for the Woman’s Club of Albany in 2009 and provided project oversight of window restoration, storm window fabrication and ballroom restoration (2008-2010) (c.1895), Albany, NY (NR listed)

Knox Street Rehabilitation Tax Credit Project, Park South Neighborhood, Albany, NY (2007-2008) Provided preservation consulting services to the Developers of this full block rehabilitation of 18 individual c.1870-80 three- story rowhouses into affordable housing units. Conducted research of neighborhood and developed National Register nomination for the “Knox Street Historic District.” Full documentation of buildings and Federal and State Rehabilitation Tax Credit applications (Pts 1,2,3). Project involved ongoing communication with the developers, the architects, the contractors and the reviewing staff of the State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. (NR Listed)
