ENGROSSED HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 1057 BY: BRYANT, BOYD, CAMPBELL, COMBS, COZORT, GATES, HENSHAW, JOHNSON (Rob), McCORKELL, NIEMI, ROACH, ROSS, SATTERFIELD, VEITCH and WEESE of the HOUSE and WILLIAMS (Penny), LESTER, HORNER, FORD, SMITH WRIGHT, CULLISON, EASLEY and LONG (Lewis) of the SENATE A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND PRAISING THE UNIVERSITY OF TULSA GOLDEN HURRICANE FOOTBALL TEAM FOR A SUCCESSFUL SEASON AND WINNING THE 1991 FREEDOM BOWL; AND DIRECTING DISTRIBUTION. WHEREAS, the 1991 University of Tulsa Golden Hurricane Football Team had an outstanding season and one of the best seasons in school history; and WHEREAS, on December 30, 1991, the University of Tulsa Golden Hurricane won the 1991 Freedom Bowl in Anaheim, California, by defeating San Diego State University by the score of 28-17; and WHEREAS, in achieving this success, the Golden Hurricane posted a 10-2 record for the season, the best record among the state's NCAA Division I schools; and WHEREAS, Head Coach David Rader, his assistant coaches, staff and players have added a new and prominent chapter to the football tradition at the University of Tulsa; and WHEREAS, the Oklahoma House of Representatives and the Oklahoma State Senate are honored to praise each person who made this achievement possible, including: Head Coach David Rader; Assistant Coaches Mark Thomas, Rockey Felker, Pete McGinnis, Cliff Abbott, Mack Butler, Colby Schreckengost, Ron Taylor, Chris Thurmond, and Glenn Watson; Strength Coach Tom Cross and graduate assistant Gary Calcagno; Student Coach Wes McCalip; Team Film Danny Phelps; Head Trainer Scott McGonagle and staff; Head Equipment Manager George Walrond and staff; Director of Athletics, Rick Dickson; Assistant Athletic Director, Dave Wentling; Sports Information Director, Don Tomkalski; Secretaries, Gwen Charles and Barbara Whiteley; and players Dunstan Anderson, Chris Anderson, Joe August, James Bailey, Michael Beckner, Will Berry, Dan Bitson, James Blake, Chris Bratcher, Brandon Brister, Brian Brown, Bill Buehner, Coco Butler, Sedric Clark, Steve Cohn, Billy Cole, Harvey Crowder, Louis Curtis, Mark Delozier, Clint Dishman, Marlo Fair, Matt Federico, Stephen Ford, LeRoy Franklin, Gus Frerotte, Jeff Frost, Guy Gaylor, Floyd Goode, Shane Goodwin, Mark Govi, Kenny Gunn, Mark Haberfield, Mike Haenszel, Michael Harris, Herbert Harvey, Darren Hasz, Bennit Hayes, Todd Hays, Lamont Headd, Dennis Hickey, Willie Hill, Phil Holmes, Kelly Houston, Abe Hoskins, Chris Hughley, Ron Jackson, Antwain Jimmerson, Daryle Johnson, David Jones, Michael Kedzior, Paul Knotts, Eric Lange, Mark Laskey, Cory Lax, Charles Little, Joe Dan McAdams, Jeff McAnallen, Jay McDaniel, Todd McGuire, Darnell Madison, Mark Matheson, Robie Mays, David Millwee, Barry Minter, Doug Mitchell, Jake Naylor, Phil Nitowski, Chandler Norton, Joe Ososkie, Jerry Ostroski, Chris Penn, Jason Percy, Jon Peters, Gene Pierce, Jay Powell, Clint Quarles, Rolanda Reese, Ryan Riffer, Keith Roller, T.J. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 2ND SESSION OF THE 43RD OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN: THAT the University of Tulsa Golden Hurricane Football Team be congratulated for an outstanding season and one of the most successful football seasons in school history. THAT the University of Tulsa Golden Hurricane Football Team be commended and praised for bringing glory and honor to the State of Oklahoma by winning the 1991 Freedom Bowl in Anaheim, California. THAT copies of this resolution be distributed to Dr. Robert H. Donaldson, President, University of Tulsa; Mr. Rick Dickson, Athletic Director, University of Tulsa; University of Tulsa Head Coach David Rader; and all the assistant coaches for the University of Tulsa Football Team.
