A: Advaita means ‘One without a second’ – ‘ekameva advitiyam. It is the declaration of the Ultimate Truth that Brahman exists at all times as the Existence/ Consciousness principle in all living beings. Mahavakya vichara helps a sadhaka to grasp this Truth and claim his Brahman status. This is the knowledge which liberates a samsari from his wrong notion of samsaritva. Who reveals this spiritual knowledge? Brahman being totally actionless cannot reveal this knowledge. It is the Sastras which reveal this truth. All the Sastras have come out of the mouth of Isvara himself and hence considered very sacred and valid at all times. Brahman associated with the creative power called Maya is called Isvara. He is the srishti-sthiti-laya-karta. All Sastras and Vedas are the words of Isvara himself. All that is seen, observed and experienced are nothing but Isvara. -

Modern Theosophy by Claude Falls Wright Modern Theosophy An Outline of Its Principles by Claude Falls Wright, FTS Published in 1894 This work was originally written for a well-known publishing house in New York. Prolonged delays in issuing the work and the eventual assignment of the house forced the author to withdraw the manuscript. It is now issued with some slight additions. February 1894 - Claude Falls Wright CLAUDE FALLS WRIGHT last visited Toronto in August, 1922. He was called in the January following to Nicaragua on a business trip, and left with the expectation of returning within a short time. He left his personal effects in his New York lodgings, and after his death by accidental drowning, as no one claimed his property and time passed on, his landlady sold what there was for the rent due. Among these effects were many books and manuscripts. The story of their dispersion may be told another time, but we are only concerned with Mr. Wright's book, Modern Theosophy. It was published in 1894, or attempted to be published, but only a few copies comparatively got into circulation. Most of them were destroyed in a fire. Mr. Wright had every intention of republishing the book with revisions, and we talked it over with him on his last visit to Toronto. Mr. Roy Mitchell, who was naturally interested in the sale of Mr. Wright's books and papers, when he heard where they were being disposed of, went and examined them and was fortunate enough to find a ragged old book with a cover pasted over it with the title "Gupta Vidya" taken from another volume. -

The Law of Periodicity – from Manvantara to the moods When I was about the age of twelve I had the first conscious contact with the concept of periodicity which I discovered from a fictional story a “zebra philosophy”. This influenced deeply my attitude to life. The “zebra philosophy”, like life, is like a zebra pattern – streaky, white line following the black one. Therefore if you are on the black line, and you run as quickly as you can, you will know that dead ahead will be the white line; if you are on the white line, you can run your course peacefully, enjoy it. A pattern of cycles and opportunities can be seen… Now I have found out the basis of my childhood’s “philosophy”, has a strong similarity to the second fundamental proposition, The Law of Periodicity, one of the basic laws governing existence, affirming - “There is a basic law called the Law of Periodicity. 1. This law governs all manifestation, whether it is the manifestation of a solar Logos through the medium of a solar system, or the manifestation of a human being through the medium of a form. This law controls likewise in all the kingdoms of nature.” [TCF, 6] By this law there is following every active period a corresponding equal period of rest. As it is stated, the Law governs all manifestations, so there are periods of different duration. The greatest periods are called Manvantara (active periods of the Universe) and Pralaya (the period of complete rest), and have been called poetically as the Days and Nights of Brahma. -

European Journal of Science and Theology, February 2021, Vol.17, No.1, 25-37 _______________________________________________________________________ REVISITING PURĀṆIC CHRONOLOGY Sidharth Chhabra* MIT School of Vedic Sciences, Rajbaug, Loni Kalbhor, Pu, Al Luqta St, Maharashtra, 412201, India (Received 22 May 2020, revised 21 October 2020) Abstract The Purāṇas provide dates for major events in the history of the Earth, Solar System and Universe. These dates are within 0.3% of half of the modern scientific dates for these events. Since modern scientific dating involves several completely independent techniques that are subject to different sources of error, the fact that all of these scientific techniques yield dates that are twice those of Purāṇic dates suggests that traditional Purāṇic chronology is off by a factor of two. The 14th century Purāṇic scholar, Śrīdhara Svāmī, alluded to this in his commentary on the Viṣṇu Purāṇa. This paper also reviews Purāṇic time units and notes the presence of a time unit, the pratisaṃdhi, which has hitherto escaped scholarly attention. Introduction The Purāṇas are Indian encyclopaedias handed down by oral tradition for thousands of years and first written down on palm leaves between the second and twelfth centuries AD [1]. The oldest extant editions of the Purāṇas date to the 19th century. Scholars now universally acknowledge that the Purāṇic system of time units is at least 2000 years old [2]. The Purāṇas provide dates for significant paleontological and astrophysical events, recorded in terms of specific periods of time known as yugas, manvantaras and kalpas. There are eighteen Maha Purāṇas, which are considered corollaries to the four Vedas. -

The questions were put by members who, for the most part, supported their objections and exceptions on modern scientific grounds, and assumed logical deductions based thereon. As such objections are generally the common property of students of “The Secret Doctrine,” it has been judged unnecessary to incorporate them in full, so that their substance alone has been retained. The answers in all cases are based on the shorthand Reports, and are those of Esoteric Philosophy as given by H.P.B. herself. From Radha-Syama to Maya-devi Dhama Introduction This blog is about the original position of the soul. Was the soul originally in love with Sri Sri Radha Krishna in the Goloka Vrndavana planet, or with one of Their Sri Sri Laksmi-Narayana expansions on a Vaikuntha planet? Or were we eternally in the Brahmajyoti, Krishna’s effulgence and then on coming out we had the choice to either fall down to the clouds of illusion, the material world or rise up to Krishna seva, Krishna consciousness, the spiritual world?-brahman-tatastha-patita-vada. Or are we eternally here?-anadi-patita-vada. Or are we still in the spiritual world with a pastime expansion going around through the prison cells, the material bodies, of Durga-devi dhama?-svapna-matra-patita-vada or dream-vada. This last theory is explained in the section “dream vada”. The conclusion: we were originally in the love of Sri Sri Radha Krishna in Their planet. Srila Prabhupada said: “So the Mayavadi philosopher, their spiritual life means to merge into the Brahman effulgence, and the Vaisnava philosopher to go back to Goloka Vrndavana, Vaikuntha, where God is situated, and become His associate person.” (Philosophy, Srila Prabhupada discussions with Hayagriva, on Arthur Schopenhauer) The book is in the form of debates. If Vishnu is represented in his forthcoming and last appearance as the Tenth Avatara, it is only because every unit held as an androgyne manifests itself doubly.
