FILM CIRCUIT Now in its 20th year, with volunteers in every province, Film Circuit is a community-building programme that helps film enthusiasts organize local screenings, events and special guest appearances for audiences that may not otherwise enjoy access to them. “When you take your film on the road, every screening is different. There are surprises, and the thing that’s nice about the Film Circuit screenings is that the people who come are really committed, they made an effort to be there, this is the kind of film they want to be watching. It’s a unique opportunity to have a direct relationship with the audience, which is really helpful as a filmmaker to see how people respond to your work, talk to them, and to reach out.” —Sturla Gunnarsson, Canadian filmmaker Monsoon( ) THE SID ADILMAN MENTORSHIP PROGRAMME Named in honour of the iconic Canadian arts columnist, this two-week internship during the Toronto International Film Festival allows the next generation of journalists to learn the ropes of their profession as they cover one of the world’s largest public film festivals. “As editorial intern for Screen International, I expected that all of my contributions would only be available online.
