IAAF World Junior Championships is one of the biggest sporting event for the junior athletes, in which most of the IAAF member federations take part. I have mainly two expectations to junior athletes representing Japan for this championships. One is for them to exert 100% of their capability and to keep competing against the world's top athletes to the end. If the athletes can bring their ability into full play, they can expect to improve their personal records and as a result, to win medals or finish in top places. Another point that I expect from the athletes is an international exchange with athletes of other countries. This is a stage that the athletes of the same generation will come together. Don't be hesitant and expand your circle of friends to the world. This experience will be a treasure not just in your athletics career, but in your life. IAAF World Junior Championships will be a starting point to lead you to the 2020 Olympics. By achieving your goals in this competition, you will take a step forward to Tokyo. Don’t be afraid to take your first step. July, 2014 In closing, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all those who have been giving their kind support and assistance to our federation. I hope that you will refer to Mitsugi OGATA this media guidebook to give the Japanese delegation your warm support. The IAAF World Athletics Championships Doha 2019 is a great stageA for you to challenge the “power and skill” of the world, and it has an important meaning as a prelude to 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games which is quickly approaching. Expand your athletic ability you have gained through competition experiences and years of hard training here in Doha and make a huge step towards the grand stage. Along with your athletic ability, human quality is also very important. Athletics is an individual sport except for relays, but it is necessary to have Team JAPAN awareness. The consciousness of competing as a team will also enhance your human quality, and that rise helps to improve individual competitiveness. For athletes and staff, I ask you to unite by respecting each other, and have the spirit of “One for All, All for One”.
