  • Road Safety Policy
Road Safety Policy Growing God’s garden through welcome, hospitality and kindness. Preamble At St Therese Catholic Primary School we believe that a road safety policy provides a framework of common understanding for students, staff, parents/carers and the community who interact with the school to provide a safe environment. Our Catholic School is founded on the person of Jesus Christ and is committed to educate in Gospel values - especially in hope, love, justice and care for others in the community. As a school we strive to reflect the spirit of our patron saint, St Therese, to Grow God’s garden through welcome & hospitality, joy & kindness. The main intention of this policy is to ensure the health, safety and welfare of our students who use the services and facilities of this school. We do this by assessing the risks in the road environment around our school, developing practical school management procedures and ensuring that curriculum that pertains to all road safety issues is taught to our students. Environmental Statement St Therese Catholic Primary School is bordered by the Princes Hwy to the north and west, Powell St to the east and the Illawarra Grammar School (TIGS) to the south. The close proximity of a 1000+ high school greatly impacts on the amount of traffic movement in Powell St, while the Princes Hwy is the main route out of Wollongong to the south. As such, the safe entering and exiting of students from the school is of great importance to all stakeholders. The traffic is particularly heavy in Powell St from 8.30am - 9.00am and from 2.45pm - 3.15pm as it is at these times that children are walking to and from school, are being dropped off/picked up by private transport and buses are arriving/departing.

PARENT NEWSLETTER ACTING PRINCIPAL: Mr R Ashby DEPUTY PRINCIPAL: Mr A McInnes ACTING DEPUTY PRINCIPAL: Mrs J Fallo-Cranney Phone: 42963055 Fax: 42972817 Email: [email protected] Website: www.warilla-h.schools.nsw.edu.au AUGUST 2008 By this time you have no doubt heard the news that I have accepted the position of School Education Director for the Shoalhaven School Education Group. This was not an easy decision to make. Indeed, I agonised over it for days before deciding to accept this most demanding and challenging position. I hope that in the fullness of time, this will be in the best interests of both Warilla High School and the Shoalhaven schools that I will directly oversee. Can I say without a word of doubt, Warilla High School is - and remains - an excep- tional school. It is exceptional because of the compassion and empathy displayed by staff on a daily basis. This school really does make a difference in the lives of kids and their families. I am privileged to have had the opportunity to have been Principal here for the best part of five years and to have had the opportunity to learn from some outstanding edu- cators about what constitutes a quality school. I am hopeful the legacy I leave will be a clearly articulated belief about our direction and how kids learn - a belief that sees meeting the learning and individual needs of students as our prime focus. I have a framed statement in my office which reads as follows: “We are here to help children succeed.

  • Annual Report
Christian Schools Sports Association Annual Report Executive Officers Report 26 years ago on the 28 September 1988 the Christian Schools Sports Association was formed and became an incorporated body. Many of our founding Principals have retired in the past few years leaving the responsibility of upholding & maintaining their vision to foster Christian thought and practice through sporting events within and between schools with you and me. Many outside the Associations may ask “Why have a Christian Sports Association?” The motto of Covenant Christian School is "All Knowledge through Christ". They state: …..The Christian believes that there are no neutral facts, that everything is related to God and has significance beyond this life. ... Christian education involves every subject of knowledge.. ... Christian education requires a Christian point of view for the whole curriculum; a God-centred program in every department ... A Christian School seeks to be Christian every hour of the school day. www.covenant.nsw.edu.au/why-christian-school.html As sports teachers and coaches we have a unique relationship with our students. We have the opportunity to share our faith with them and show them what it means to be a Christian both on and off the sporting field. By doing this we are not only proclaiming the Kingdom of God but bringing glory & honour to our Lord Jesus Christ. A former coach from Washington Redskins “Vince Lombardi” was famous for his statement: “Winning isn’t the most important thing: it is the only thing” Shortly before Vince Lombardi died he declared: “I wish I’d never said it.
