Yuanta Charity Blood Drive goes on as usual amidst coronavirus concerns, gathering 924 bags of blood. Yuanta has been devoted to the campaign of “Roll Up Sleeves to Spread Love, Donate Blood to Help Others”. Impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, blood banks across Taiwan are sounding alarms over blood shortages. Yuanta FHC organized a campaign of Blood Donation Month in April and a total of 707 people participated, collecting 924 bags of blood. Yuanta FHC has been promoting charity blood drives for ten years, donating a cumulative total of 17,032 bags. This year, Yuanta was once again recognized by the Taiwan Blood Services Foundation and was awarded the “Outstanding Blood Donor Group” honor for the fifth consecutive year.

A manager of Yuanta, who participated in the blood donation, shared that there was a period when she was unable to donate blood because of low blood pressure and insufficient hemoglobin due to staying up late. But later she adjusted her work schedule and supplemented her nutrition, and was finally able to donate blood. The manager said, “What a blessing it is to donate blood. It is not only to help others, but also represents that you are healthy!” A Yuanta staff, who is a first-time donor, said, “I was very nervous to donate blood for the first time, and it was very scary to see how thick the needles were for blood donation!” But shortly afterwards, he changed the thought into “it is extremely meaningful to be able to help others by simply donating a bag of blood” to overcome the fear. This warm-blooded staff said happily, “I will participate again in future blood drives.”

In response to the coronavirus pandemic, Yuanta FHC adjusted the method of execution of Yuanta Charity Blood Drive event, including cancelling fixed-point bloodmobiles and replacing them with an online process. Through its Facebook fan pages “Yuanta GoodNews” and “Yuanta Love Unlimited,” Yuanta FHC spread the message of public welfare, called on its employees and the public to join the blood drive, and played an active role as a public welfare platform through self-media publicity. Furthermore, Yuanta FHC donated picnic mats and water bottles to “blood-donating warriors” in three blood donation centers in Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung. During the campaign, the number of blood bags collected by the Taichung Blood Donation Office doubled compared to the same period last year, and the campaign was well received, effectively alleviating the blood shortage.

Besides voluntary participation of Yuanta employees, in events over the years, Yuanta FHC has actively invited residents, companies, and police departments in the neighborhood near Yuanta-owned buildings to join blood drives to spread love, taking practical actions to fulfil its corporate social responsibility while providing the strongest backing for blood inventory. Yuanta FHC expects more people will join the ranks of blood donation and roll up their sleeves to donate blood, disseminate blessings and bring more warmth to the society.
