Report of the National Seminar on

‘CHALLENGES AND CHANGES IN THE EVALUATION SYSTEM’

26th February 2019

A one-day National Seminar on “Challenges and Changes in the Evaluation System” was held at Jamal Mohamed College (Autonomous), Tiruchirappalli-20 on 26th February 2019. It was organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the college and sponsored by National Assessment and Accreditation Council, Bengaluru.

During the Inaugural session, Dr. M. G. Sethuraman, Professor, Department of Chemistry, Gandhigram Rural Institute, , Gandhigram, delivered the keynote address. He highlighted upon the role of institutions in supplying skilled manpower to the world for which relevant curriculum is needed. He also stressed on the fact that technological gap between students and teachers should be eliminated.

Dr.T. Abdul Razak, Convener & Coordinator of IQAC, welcomed the gathering. Dr. S. Ismail Mohideen, Principal, delivered the Presidential address. Dr. A. K. Khaja Nazeemudeen, Secretary & Correspondent and Hajee M.J. Jamal Mohamed, Treasurer of the college offered felicitations. Dr. D. Kumar, Member of IQAC elaborated on the theme of the Seminar and Dr. A. Shajahan, Member IQAC proposed the vote of thanks.

Four valuable and informative sessions were conducted under the topics “Reforms in Student Assessment”, “Benchmark Practices for Quality Enhancement in the Evaluation System”, “Outcome Based Assessment and Evaluation” and “Evaluation System under the Revised NAAC Framework”. Dr. M. G. Sethuraman, Professor, Department of Chemistry, Gandhigram Rural Institute, Deemed University, Dr. Syed Wajeed, Associate Professor, Department of Microbiology, Director IQAC, St.Joseph’s College, Bengaluru, Dr. P. Jeganathan, Head, Department of Computer Applications & Coordinator for IQAC, PSNA college of Engineering & Technology, Dindigul and Dr. V. Sujatha, Principal, Cauvery college for women delivered the special lectures and shared their valuable inputs on the given topics respectively.

Dr. V. Sujatha, Principal, Cauvery college for women, delivered the valedictory address of the seminar, highlighting the procedures and importance of NAAC Accreditation. The report of the seminar was read by Dr. A. Mohamed Ismayil, Organizing Secretary of the Seminar and Dr. A. Ishaq Ahamed, Member of IQAC of the college proposed the vote of thanks.
