=Alms Manitoba Government NEWS Information Services Branch Legislative Bldg., Winnipeg SERVICE MANITOBA Phone 946-7175 Date: July 13, 1970 ROYAL TOUR ROUTES -- GREATER WINNIPEG AND LOWER FORT GARRY Following is a list of routes which the Royal Family will take during their visit to Greater Winnipeg -- beginning Monday evening, July 13, with the visit to a Blue Bomber game and ending with airport farewells the evening of Wednesday, July 15 and the morning of the 16th. Most of the routes by car are slow ones -- approximately six miles per hour. The walks are "informal" -- meaning that the Royal visitors may stop now and then to talk to Manitobans along the route. MONDAY, JULY 13: The Royal Family: 9:15 p.m., arrival by Royal Train at St. James station, from there to Bomber Game by car via Portage, St. James Street, St. Matthews, into northwest gate, short clockwise drive around the field. At end of third quarter, back to train by reverse route. Train departs 10:25. TUESDAY, JULY 14: Queen Elizabeth: 11:45 a.m., from St. Pierre, Man., to Provencher Park, St. Boniface. Highway 59, Trans-Canada Highway to Archibald, Marionl lbuville, Goulet, Des Neurons, Provencher and St. Jean Baptiste to the park. Queen and Duke: 1:05 p.m., depart Provencher Park by car for C.P.R. station via Provencher, Pioneer, Main and Higgins. Train to Lover Fort (larry. Prince of Wales: 11:45 a.m., from St. Pierre, Man., to the University of Manitoba. Highways 59, 100 and Pembina Highway, Matheson Drive. Prince of Wales and Princess Anne: 2:10p.m. by boat from University of Manitoba to Winnipeg Canoe Club, from there by car at ,:50 p.m. to Holy Family Home via Dunkirk, Kingston Cres., Osborne, Corydon, Donald) Smith, Portage, Main, Redwood, arriving at 3:20. Short stop, then to Middlechurch Home, west on Redwood, north on Main, east on Balderstone Road. Departure north on Main to Lower Fort Garry by 4:20 p.m. WEDNESDAY, JULY 15: The Royal Family: 10:30 a.m., depart by state carriages from C.N.R. station down Broadway, north lanes, to Legislative Building, counter clockwise around the north drive to north portico. Into building, out south portico for ceremonies, then by car to Government House (11:40 a.m.) via driveway on east side of building, taking lane to Kennedy Street. -more- -2- ROYAL TOUR ROUTES Queen and Duke: 12:20 p.m. from Government House, via Kennedy, Broadway, Portage and Main to corner of William Avenue and Main for informal walk down Main to Museum of Man and Nature. Into building for ceremonies, depart east door of Concert Hall 2:15 p.m. for car to Children's Hospital via Market, Main, Williami Sherbrook and Bannatyne. Leave 2:40 for Deer Lodge Hospital arriving between 3:05 and 3:20, via Bannatyne, Sherbrook and Portage. Departure by the family for C.N.R. siding at Saskat- chewan Avenue at 3:20 p.m. west on Portage, north on Highway 100. Board at 3:40. Prince and Princess: 12:20 p.m., depart Government Howe in same motorcade with Queen and Duke, route Kennedy, Broadway, Manorial, Portage, Main. Informal walk to Centennial concert Hall (75 yards). Arrive main door, 12:40 p.m., exit from main door for Deer Lodge 2:25. Slow drive 5 miles from concert hall via Main Street and Portage Avenue. The Royal Family: 4 p.m., state carriages from train at Saskatchewan Avenue siding to Assiniboia Downs via west on Saskatchewan, south through stable area onto and clockwise around track direct to tarmac vest of Grandstand. Departure 4:55 p.m. in state carriages north along track through stable area, east on Saskatchewan to train. Departure 5:40 for C.P.R. station, Winnipeg. Queen and Duke: 7 p.m. from C.P.R. station to Government House by 7:15 for private dinner. Prince and Princess: 7:05 p.m. from C.P.R. station to International Inn via Higgins, Princess, Ellice, Madison and Wellington. Departure at 8:45 p.m. by Wallington, King Edward, Ellice, Colony, Memorial, Broadway and Kennedy to Government House by 9 p.m. The Royal Family: About 9:40 p.m. from Government House by car to Winnipeg Arena, main entrance. Via Kennedy, Broadway, Portage, St. James Street, and Maroons Road. Departure at 11 p.m. for Canadian Forces Base Hangar, via Maroons Road, Mpress, Portage, Whytewold. Arrival at hangar at 11:15 p.m., departure of Queen and Duke from Manitoba via DC8 aircraft for Prestwick at 11:30 p.m. Prince and Princess: 11:45 p.m. by car to Government House via Whytewold, Portage, Memorial, Broadway and Kennedy. THURSDAY, JULY 16: Prince and Princess: 11:30 a.m. by car from Government House to Canadian Forces Base hangar, arrive there 11:50 a.m. Departure by U.S. Air Force I (President's aircraft) for Washington at 12 noon. -30- .
