La revista trata asuntos específicos relacionados a la misión de la Iglesia con la esperanza de ayudar a aquellos que trabajan por el evangelio, y luchan y aplican la enseñanza bíblica en diversos temas difíciles de misiones. Entendiendo que hay una falta de líderes entrenados y teológicamente educados alrededor del mundo para dirigir a la Iglesia y preparar a futuros líderes, la RCG se dirige a un público de pastores, misioneros y obreros cristianos. El nivel educativo de nuestro público va desde aquellos que han completado un grado de licenciatura a aquellos que han completado un nivel de maestría y en segundo lugar, a aquellos que estudiar para prepararse para el ministerio; estudiantes y profesores del seminario. Somos conscientes de que hay estudiantes de teología, profesores y otros académicos que van a leer y tomar interés en el contenido de esta revista, pero nuestro foco principal es en las personas que trabajan con la iglesia global o aquellos que están considerando trabajar con la iglesia global. La revista supone un alto nivel de educación entre su público, pero no es estrictamente académico. Como parte de organizar las reseñas de libros, los editores de las reseñas de libros proveerán directrices a los reseñadores. 2 REVISTA del CRISTIANISMO GLOBAL 1.1 (2015) INTRODUCIENDO LA REVISTA DEL CRISTIANISMO GLOBAL Darren Carlson Ha sido bien documentado que el centro de gravedad del cristianismo se ha desplazado de los países Occidentales hacia el Sur y el Este. Aquellos que han estudiado este movimiento se refieren normalmente a las conversiones en África, Asia y Suramérica. A lo que no se refieren es a las oportunidades educativas y a teólogos bien entrenados. El desfase entre el crecimiento explosivo de la iglesia y el entrenamiento acentúa la necesidad de que la iglesia global trabaje unida para ayudar a levantar eruditos cristianos y líderes entrenados desde el naciente centro del Cristianismo. Las agencias misioneras occidentales no han sido tan útiles como podrían ser ya que algunas han abandonado por completo la educación teológica a favor de plantar iglesias y, como tal, hay muchos edificios vacíos donde hace 30 años atrás existían lugares de entrenamiento teológico. Además de esto, la mayoría de nuestros nuevos hermanos y hermanas vienen de contextos pobres donde es difícil tener acceso a la educación. En muchos casos, si una persona quiere tener estudios teológicos o simplemente ser entrenado para el ministerio pastoral en un nivel laico, primero tiene que superar su propio nivel de educación. Para entrar en el mundo de las disciplinas teológicas también hay que aprender inglés, que puede ser una tarea insuperable para muchos, dejándolos sin muchos libros y comentarios maravillosos. Para hacerlo más difícil, lugares como China, donde las instituciones teológicas no pueden operar en público, encuentran difícil organizar, financiar y entregar recursos útiles para aquellos que buscan entrenamiento. Si bien hay mucho que celebrar en el éxito reportado de los esfuerzos evangelísticos alrededor del mundo, muchos están preocupados por la viabilidad a largo plazo de estas iglesias, y han tratado de traer educación teológica y formación básica del ministerio a la iglesia global. Ciertamente la educación no garantiza ortodoxia, pero pastores bien entrenados, ya sea en alianzas con escuelas o en el contexto de las iglesias locales, pueden proporcionar estabilidad y protección para el pueblo de Dios. En muchos sentidos, se ha producido una miopía geográfica involuntaria ya que muchos se han preguntado si Occidente aún necesita más eruditos teológicos. El mercado de trabajo es difícil, decimos en Occidente, y muchos doctores trabajan en cafés con la esperanza de convertirse en profesores adjuntos en un colegio o seminario. Mientras existe una necesidad significativa de que maestros bien entrenados sean esparcidos alrededor del mundo. El ímpetu de esta revista nace de tres deseos. Uno es el de proporcionar a la iglesia global la oportunidad de interactuar unos con otros sobre temas que les impactan directamente. Como tal, nos hemos comprometido a hacer gratuita esta revista y traducir el contenido en una variedad de idiomas con el fin de proveer a los lectores que no hablan inglés acceso a los debates teológicos. 3 REVISTA del CRISTIANISMO GLOBAL 1.1 (2015) El segundo deseo es estimular a aquellos en particular que tienen una cantidad abrumadora de acceso a las oportunidades educativas a ver la necesidad con mayor claridad y, posiblemente, ser movidos a incluso ayudar a satisfacer esa necesidad. Eso puede requerir trasladarse a otra cultura o comprometerse a asociarse con alguien para ofrecer cursos modulares donde la necesidad es grande. Uno podría pensar que nos estamos refiriendo principalmente a los estadounidenses, pero sería negligente no reconocer que hay muchos buenos teólogos que se han levantado en lugares como Kenia, Brasil, Corea y Singapur. Por último, esperamos que los temas planteados en esta revista sean desafiantes y alentadores a la vez para los lectores alrededor del mundo. Ya sea que estemos introduciendo una historia desconocida de la obra de un líder cristiano o examinando la manera en que pasajes particulares de la Biblia impactan diferentes culturas, confiamos en que el lector tendrá abierto sus ojos al impacto y la complejidad de la fe cristiana alrededor del mundo. While research on female representation and female heroes in tv and film aimed at mature audiences has been done quite widely (for example Hohenstein, 2019; Tigges, 2017; Stabile, 2009) naturally there has not yet been a notable amount of research into newer animated series aimed at younger viewers that have responded to this demand for representation. As such, this thesis looks into the subject of girls as heroes (excluding super heroes, as they are a different category of hero) in recent major animated series aimed at younger audiences, using She-Ra and the Princesses of Power (2018-), The Legend of Korra (2012-2014) and the Dragon Prince (2018-) as primary analysis material. Reischauer Institute Professor of Japanese Religions, Harvard University. 27 he Heike nōkyō, a twelfth-century set of thirty-three scriptural scrolls preserved at Itsukushima Shrine in Hiroshima Prefecture, is one of the most sumptuous and elaborate examples of medieval Japanese illustrated TBuddhist scriptural manuscripts. One of the scrolls, the “Devadatta” chapter of the Lotus Sutra, bears a frontispiece that features the Dragon Princess, the cel- ebrated protagonist of the chapter (figure 1). The illustration is arguably the most sublime representation of the princess in visual art. Although recent stud- ies of the Dragon Princess have made her famous for her sudden change of sex and transformation into a Buddha, the princess in the frontispiece simply offers her jewel to the Buddha. She shows no sign of physical metamorphosis. What sort of interpretive strategies are required to understand her act as represented in the frontispiece?
