Novootkriveni dokumenti o njezinoj obnovi nakon potresa 1667. godine u Državnom arhivu Dubrovnika ne samo da su pokazali nove pojedinosti o povijesti gradnje same palače nego su otkrili da je u prošlosti pripadala vlasteoskoj obitelji Luccari (čiji grb, krivo tumačen kao Kabogin, obilježava njezine pročelne portale). Troškovnik obnove, vođene od 1670. do 1674. godine, donoseći imena majstora, ujedno svjedoči da je u kontekstu obnove dubrovačke stambene arhitekture neposredno nakon potresa, palača Luccari, u stanovitim elementima, poput formiranja otvorenog prostora s paviljonom, imala i svojevrsno prototipsko

EST OMNIS REIPUBLICAE POTESTAS: DUBROVNIK’S PATRICIAN HOUSES AND THEIR PARTICIPATION IN POWER (1440-1640) ZDENKO ZLATAR ABSTRACT: This study is an analysis of the share that each patrician house had in the exercise of the most important functions in government (the Rec- tor, the member of the Minor Council, the Senator, the Guardian of Justice), and the ratio of these houses in the Major Council. Some houses secured more offices than they were entitled to according to their numerical strength in the Major Council (Gradi/GradiÊ, Gondola/GunduliÊ, Georgi/–ureviÊ, Cerva/ CrijeviÊ, Menze/MenËetiÊ, Zamagno/DæamanjiÊ, Resti/RastiÊ, Bona/BuniÊ), while others did not get their fair share (Caboga/Kaboga, Sorgo/SorkoËeviÊ, Pozza/PuciÊ, Ragnina/Ranjina, Bobali/BobaljeviÊ, Gozze/GuËetiÊ).     Athens Journal of History - Volume 1, Issue 3 – Pages 195-204 Traffic Connectivity in Croatia in the Past: The Dubrovnik Region Case By Marija Benić Penava This paper analyses the development of traffic routes in the far south of Croatia during the 19th and 20th century. Poor traffic connectivity was the consequence of traffic policy which was subordinated to the interests of Vienna in the Austro- Hungarian Monarchy, and after World War I, to Belgrade. Since the Dubrovnik region was oriented towards the sea, and since traditionally it had strong entrepreneurship and sea traffic that enabled great economic prosperity of Dubrovnik in the past centuries. Ships flying the flag of Sveti Vlaho (Saint Blaise, the patron saint of the city) were present in the Mediterranean and the world’s oceans, yet the service industry which Dubrovnik provided was completed by tourism only in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. The perception of Dubrovnik as a world tourist destination was established in the first half of the 20th century and that could only be maintained by quality traffic routes. Therefore it was extremely important for the prosperity of the far south of Croatia to have and retain the best connectivity by railway as well as sea, land and air traffic. Introduction The transition from the eighteenth to the nineteenth century was a period of great economic change in Europe. The discovery of the Watt’s steam engine (1764) enabled mechanical transport, which neither the working animals nor the natural power, on which transportation was dependent previously, could not contest. The steam engine passed the milestone in the field of transport connection.

    UDC: 314.7.044(497.16)”1807/1814” Историјски записи, година XC, 3-4/2017 Marija CRNIć PEJOVIć* FOREIGN CITIZENS IN HERCEG NOVI MUNICIPALITY IN 1811 ABSTRACT: At the time of the French rule in the Bay of Kotor (1807- 1814), records were kept on the foreigners residing on its territory. During this period, the civil authorities were subordinated to the military authori- ties who adopted orders on recording foreigners. The persons who did not register a foreigner immediately and offer him lodging before receiving an approval from the military authorities were subjected to a fine and military laws. On the basis of the list of foreigners from 1811, we find out that there were twenty-eight of them together with their family members residing in the Herceg Novi municipality. The majority came from Trebinje, and then from the east Adriatic coast. They arrived at the end of the 18th and the beginning of the 19th century. U prvome se dijelu rada donose dijalektološki podatci, pri čemu se isti- če neuključenost govora istočno od Boke kotorske u hrvatska dijalektološka istraživanja te činjenica da su govori na širemu barskom području jedini dio hrvatskoga neprekinutog jezičnog područja koji izravno graniči s albanskim. Zatim se naznačuje razvoj antroponimijske formule na koju su uvelike utjeca- le različite povijesne prilike (ponajprije osmanlijska osvajanja, ali i razgraniče- nje u današnjoj Crnoj Gori nakon povlačenja Osmanlija iz tih krajeva). Prezi- mena se u središnjemu dijelu rada dijele s obzirom na motivaciju i jezično po- stanje.     Türkiye Araştırmaları Literatür Dergisi, Cilt 8, Sayı 15, 2010, 697-714 Modern Serbian, Montenegrin and Croatian Historiography on the Ottoman Empire Ema MILJKOVIC* ALTHOUGH the first important studies dedicated to South-Slav history under the Ottoman rule and based on primary Ottoman sources were written before World War Two (some of them still being valid),1 the science of historiography in the former Yugoslavia began with serious research in this subject during 1950s. At that time, there were several centers for Ottoman studies, in Belgrade, Sarajevo and to a lesser extent, in Skopje. Podgorica and Zagreb have only developed interest in this field recently, as will be elaborated in this paper. A) Modern Serbian Historiography on the Ottoman Empire In spite of the fact that both Sarajevo and Belgrade were home to some very distinguished scholars in Ottoman history, and both cities had very influential Oriental studies programs at the university level, Sarajevo took the leading role as the primary academic center for Ottoman studies, which was due to a large part that the Institute of Oriental Studies (which has its own journal called Contributions for the Oriental Philology/Prilozi za orijentalnu filologiju) was located there. Belgrade had no such Institute or specialized center; within the Historical Institute of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts there was a special research unit, the members of which were experts on the Ottoman language and history.2 These experts * Prof., Ph. This chaotic situation was combined with the arbitrary and repressive conduct of local Ottoman feudal lords. Migrations, interethnic contacts and mixing of populations as well as an intensified Islamization process caused by a number of factors greatly complicated the situation. Albanian northward penetration along the Lim and into Pešter as well as the expan- sion of the Vasojevići tribe into the Upper Lim valley added to the complexity of the ethnic and demographic picture of the region. Perpetual rebellions against the Otto- man occupation eventually led to the liberation of the Serbian Orthodox population of these areas.
