It was super confusing to only read one fourth of the story. I'm not sure why they even bothered to collect these 2 storylines in their individual books because it's incomprehensible without reading the other books Justice League, Justice League of America, Constantine, Trinity of Sin: Pandora, and Phantom Stranger as well. Save yourself the confusion and read the whole story in Justice League: Trinity War and Forever Evil: Blight in Every issue in this was part of crossovers with other books. On the plus side, Mikel Janin's art is beautiful. I felt this book was the best of the series so far. We started out with the Justice League and the crime syndicate all together and then something happened and they leave the book. Until that point with they Justice league works with JLdark, it was a whole lot of fun. They split up together. We never see them come back into the story. That's too bad. Pandora and the Trio show back up. I wish we saw more of the Question. Pandora's skull is featured and it corrupts many of the JL members. I loved I felt this book was the best of the series so far. I loved this story. Then John has to go off looking Justice League Dark: The Rebirth of Evil Volume 4 Zatanna. One of the interesting scenes was John in the House of Mystery and all this little John devils come out and make chaos. The conversation in those panels about the shadowself and other concepts was the best. I loved that. It reminded me of Alan's Justice League Dark: The Rebirth of Evil Volume 4 Promethea and how trippy that could be. There were several scenes in this one that got real trippy and I like that kind of writing. After this, the volume ends up being about John and Zatanna. I didn't think the end was very Constantine like. He loves Zatanna and I can't see the ending. I really can't. It's an interesting ending and I do wonder where they are going to take this. I enjoy seeing Zatanna and John together. Xanadu never came back at the end of the rest of the dark members. There also wasn't enough Frank in this volume. I think that character is bodacious. I want more Frank. The team was split up, but it all still worked for me. I actually almost liked John a bit in this issue. Most of the time, I can't stand him. The end put him back in my hate category, but there were some Justice League Dark: The Rebirth of Evil Volume 4 ideas and it really got down below the surface of life into the shadow self. It's more of the same with John Constantine in the lead but then it brings in other DC events and becomes convoluted. The artwork is great and that's about the only reason I didn't give this one a lower grade. Justice League Dark: The Rebirth of Evil Volume 4 09, Michael Church rated it it was ok Shelves: dc-comics. Yet another book that had so much potential but was absolutely destroyed by all of this crossover crap. The issue is that they just don't make it clear how all this is supposed to flow. This honestly cannot function on its own without reading the companion material. It makes huge leaps from one issue to the next. The thing is, the stories are Justice League Dark: The Rebirth of Evil Volume 4 and there is decent art here. The Trinity War was a fun set up for Forever Evil, and Blight had the potential to be a really high concept piece Yet another book that had so much potential but Justice League Dark: The Rebirth of Evil Volume 4 absolutely destroyed by all of this crossover crap. The Trinity War was a fun set up for Forever Evil, and Blight had the potential to be a really high concept piece. The first issue had it set up in a way that it could have made a real lasting impact on comics. The concept is that evil, as a force, is all of the interconnected negative thoughts and actions of people across the world. This is the titular "Blight" and it's a great concept. Unfortunately, after some weird astral plane stuff, it goes into just a standard big baddie fight that was pretty unsatisfying. Especially since the big change was only really impactful if you had read the previous issues of Phantom Stranger which I hadn't. Oh, but it's not done yet. After all of the other stuff, Constantine is still trying to figure out where everyone Justice League Dark: The Rebirth of Evil Volume 4 after Trinity War, so that has to be taken care of. With what's included here, it's almost a throwaway story. The bulk of what happens is in other titles. The art is decent. There are a couple of issues that do really well. It's amazing the difference it makes when Mikel Janin does his own inks. Justice League Dark (Volume) - Comic Vine No recent wiki edits to this page. In many cases, this involved streamlining, retouching, or completely overhauling the characters’ fictional back-stories, while similarly renovating the shared fictional context in which their adventures take place, “the DC Universe.” To accomplish this act of revisionist history, DC resorted to a text-based performative gesture, Crisis on Infinite Earths. This thesis analyzes the impact of this singular text and the phenomena it inspired on the comic-book industry and the DC Comics fan community. The first chapter explains the nature and importance of the convention of “continuity” (i.e., intertextual diegetic storytelling, unfolding progressively over time) in superhero comics, identifying superhero fans’ attachment to continuity as a source of reading pleasure and cultural expressivity as the key factor informing the creation of the Crisis on Infinite Earths text. The second chapter consists of an eschatological reading of the text itself, in which it is argued that Crisis on Infinite Earths combines self-reflexive metafiction with the ideologically inflected symbolic language of apocalypse myth to provide DC Comics fans with a textual "rite of transition," to win their acceptance for DC’s mid-1980s project of self- rehistoricization and renewal.

    Jared Goodrich Batman Takes Parade By Storm (How Comic Book Culture Shaped a Small City’s Halloween parade) History Research Seminar Spring 2020 1 On Saturday, October 26th, 2019, the participants lined up to begin of the Rutland Halloween Parade. 10,000 people came to the small city of Rutland to view the famed Halloween parade for its 60th year. Over 72 floats had participated and 1700 people led by the Skelly Dancers. School floats with specific themes to the Star Wars non-profit organization the 501st Legion to droves and rows of different Batman themed floats marched throughout the city to celebrate this joyous occasion. There have been many narratives told about this historic Halloween parade. One specific example can be found on the Rutland Historical Society’s website, which is the documentary called Rutland Halloween Parade Hijinks and History by B. Burge. The standard narrative told is that on Halloween night in 1959, the Rutland area was host to its first Halloween parade, and it was a grand show in its first year. The story continues that a man by the name of Tom Fagan loved what he saw and went to his friend John Cioffredi, who was the superintendent of the Rutland Recreation Department, and offered to make the parade better the next year. When planning for the next year, Fagan suggested that Batman be a part of the parade. By Halloween of 1961, Batman was running the parade in Rutland, and this would be the start to exciting times for the Rutland Halloween parade.1 Five years into the parade, the parade was the most popular it had ever been, and by 1970 had been featured in Marvel comics Avengers Number 83, which would start a major event later in comic book history.

    Since I began reading the work of Steve Ditko I wanted to have a checklist so I could catalogue the books I had read but most importantly see what other original works by the illustrator I can find and enjoy. With the help of Brian Franczak’s vast Steve Ditko compendium, Ditko-fever.com, I compiled the following check-list that could be shared, printed, built-on and probably corrected so that the fan’s, whom his work means the most, can have a simple quick reference where they can quickly build their reading list and knowledge of the artist. It has deliberately been simplified with no cover art and information to the contents of the issue. It was my intension with this check-list to be used in accompaniment with ditko-fever.com so more information on each publication can be sought when needed or if you get curious! The checklist only contains the issues where original art is first seen and printed. No reprints, no messing about. All issues in the check-list are original and contain original Steve Ditko illustrations! Although Steve Ditko did many interviews and responded in letters to many fanzines these were not included because the checklist is on the art (or illustration) of Steve Ditko not his responses to it. I hope you get some use out of this check-list! House Secrets following owner attempted to move the home from its House Secrets location, but the house tore itself free from its trailer, ran its owner over a cliff to his death, and settled less than yards from the Kentucky state line in a graveyard.
