3rd-5th Grade Boys NT Rec Saturday, October 24th, 2020 Chiefs 42, Buccaneers 35 Chiefs Stun Bucs to Advance in Playoffs

The Bucs and Chiefs played an exciting game in the quarterfinals on Saturday, exchanging with the game going right to the wire. The Bucs jumped out to an early lead thanks to a nice drive. The drive was started with a big third down conversion by Dylan Sumi, who moved the chains. Then Brody Stutz had a 35-yard reception to set up a Jackson Haacker within the first 3 minutes of the game. On the next play, however, the Chiefs dialed up a trick play as Brayden Wilson was sent deep and connected on a bomb near midfield, getting past the secondary and racing to the endzone for a touchdown, tying the game at 7. The Bucs answered with a great drive led by Jameson Dalke. On first down, Jameson got near mid-field, before Braden Topolski converted for the first down. On second down with the new set of downs, Jameson was found wide-open along the sidelines for a 45-yard touchdown catch and run. A few minutes into the second quarter, the Bucs regained the lead. The Chiefs went back to work on their side of the , as Devan Barnwell picked up a smooth 30-yards on a quick in-route, before Cian Caffery picked up a critical first down on 4th down. A couple plays later, Brayden Wilson was found once again cutting across the middle of the field, where he took the pass 40-yards to the house to tie the game with 2 minutes remaining in the half. The Bucs put together an impressive 2-minute drill, as Jameson Dalke moved the chains with a big first down pickup, and then Jackson Haacker made an impressive catch cutting up the sidelines, before racing into the endzone to give the Bucs a 21-14 lead heading into the half. Each team’s defense locked in during the 3rd quarter, exchanging punts until the final minute of the frame. Each team did a great job in the secondary of covering their assignments, making it difficult to create any separation. However, with under a minute remaining in the quarter, the Chiefs put together an efficient drive. After Evan Kinney converted a critical 4th down near mid-field, Devan Barnwell took a quick pass down to the redzone by racing past defenders up the middle of the field. On 3rd down, Jon Masse was found cutting across the back of the endzone, tying the game at 21 heading into the 4th quarter. The 4th quarter was filled with a lot of excitement and great plays by all, featuring some of the craziest plays in league history. In the beginning of the quarter, the Bucs had the ball in a 4th and long situation, needing a touchdown to keep the drive going. Facing the pressure, Jackson Haacker made a clutch juggling catch in the endzone to regain the lead for the Buccaneers, 28- 21. However, on the next play from scrimmage, Devan Barnwell had one of the craziest runs after the catch in league history, bobbing and weaving his way past all of the Bucs defenders as if he was vintage Marshawn Lynch, making players miss multiple times with his crazy moves. Devan scored an 80-yard touchdown and celebrated with an emphatic spike, tying the game, and largely shifting the momentum of this game. But there was still over 6 minutes remaining. The Bucs were marching, putting together another great drive with hopes of sealing a last second victory. Brody Stutz and Dylan Sumi each had big receptions on the play to keep the chains moving. The Bucs were in the redzone with under 3 minutes remaining, looking to go ahead. But on 3rd down, Brayden Wilson of the Chiefs 3rd-5th Grade Boys NT Rec Flag Football Saturday, October 24th, 2020 made an elite read on the ball, jumping in front of a quick pass, intercepting it, and racing 90- yards for a pick-6. This gave the Chiefs their first lead of the game with 2 minutes remaining. The Bucs did not quit however, as Jameson Dalke converted for an 80-yard touchdown, as he was able to sneak past the secondary on first down and race all the way to the endzone— retying the game at 35 with 90 seconds remaining. The Chiefs had a chance to run one final drive of the half, with hopes of securing the victory. After a big pick-up by Jack Rider to convert the first down, the Bucs defense forced a couple of incompletions. On 3rd down, the Chiefs were able to get the ball down to the 35-yard line. On 4th down, with 20 seconds remaining, Devan Barnwell came up clutch once again, running a cross route across the middle of the field, where he caught the ball and out raced the defenders to the endzone—giving the Chiefs a 42-35 lead with 10 seconds remaining. The Chiefs defense held strong on the final play, and came away with the impressive victory, advancing to the semi-finals. The Chiefs will face the Rams on Halloween morning at 9 am with a trip to the Championship game on the line.

3rd-5th Grade Boys NT Rec Flag Football Saturday, October 24th, 2020 Bengals 35, Colts 14 Bengals Crush Colts in Quarter-Finals

The Bengals picked a good time to play some of their best football of the season, beating the Colts 35-14 in convincing fashion. The Bengals got off to a hot start right away, as the offense was clicking early on. After a 10-yard reception from Cameron Bolender, Matthew Vittum came up clutch on 3rd down by taking a post route 70-yards to the house for the touchdown in the opening minutes. The Colts answered with a huge 80-yard touchdown catch and run by Joey Sparks on their first play from scrimmage, as Joey took a quick pass and raced up the sidelines for the score, tying the game at 7 halfway through the frame. The Bengals largely dominated for much of the remainder of the game, as the defense did not surrender another touchdown until the final drive of the fourth quarter. In the meantime, the offense was extremely efficient, moving the ball with ease and scoring touchdowns. In the second quarter, Cal Stonebreaker had arguably his best quarter of the season, tallying a passing touchdown, receiving touchdown, and defensive all within 8 minutes of play. First, Cal came up clutch with a 50-yard catch and run on 4th down to move the chains and bring his team down to the redzone. On the next play, the Bengals ran a trick play, as Cal took the direct and threw to his brother Brett in the endzone—giving the Bengals a 14-7 lead. The Colts put together a nice drive to answer, and were faced with a 4th and manageable situation. The Colts elected to go for it, but the Bengals made a huge stop on forth down to force a . The Bengals took advantage of the short field as Cal Stonebreaker ran a deep post route across the middle of the field, where he was found wide-open in the endzone to put the Bengals up 21-7. On the final play of the half, Cal jumped a pass and intercepted the ball near midfield before being brought down—capping off an incredible quarter. In the second half, Michael Perfetti and Matthew Vittum each scored a touchdown of the Bengals to extend the Bengals lead to 35-7. The Colts were able to piece together a great drive to finish the game strong. Sal Burkhardt took a quick pass 70-yards all the way down to the redzone, as he bobbed and weaved his way through the defense. This set up a touchdown by Benjamin Oviatt, who ran a quick slant and raced to the pile-on for the score. Ultimately, the Bengals defeated the Colts 35-14. They faced the regular season champion Ravens on Halloween at 10 am with a trip to the championship on the line.

Devan had an incredible 4th quarter, willing Cal’s effort and play in the second quarter his team to victory with huge plays during was unmatched, as he registered a “football crunch time to help the Chiefs seal a victory hattrick,” with a passing touchdown, and advance to the Semis. Devan had one of receiving touchdown, and defensive the craziest touchdown runs in league history, interception all within an 8 minute span. Cal bobbing and weaving his way through every found his brother in the endzone to start the defender multiple times in route to a quarter, and then hauled in a deep pass for a momentum swinging touchdown. Then, with big touchdown to break the game open. On 10 seconds left, Devan scored another crazy the final play of the half, Cal picked off the touchdown, this time for the win! Colts near midfield.
