An archival “center of excellence” for protecting, conserving and making publicly accessible one of WNY’s most precious assets, the collection of more than 1.2 million historic documents, including the most comprehensive family archives in Western New York, with currently over 350,000 individual family records and growing by 3,500 families per year. This collection chronicles the stories of the entrepreneurs, architects, engineers, elected officials, philanthropists, religious leaders, entertainers and scientists who built and made Buffalo and Western New York what it is today. These people influenced the nation and the world, as well as the family heritage archives of many of us, the people who shaped the neighborhoods, schools and churches of our community.
