She continued her studies with Lorna Diamond and Patricia Hoffman at the West Coast Ballet Theatre in San Diego. She also spent three years studying the Royal Academy of Dancing method with Joan and Monica Halliday at the Halliday Dance Centre in Sydney, Australia. Abrera joined as a member of the corps de ballet in 1996 and was appointed a Soloist in 2001. Abrera received the Gold Medal at the Royal Academy of Dancing’s Adeline Genée Awards in London in 1995. Abrera was appointed a in August 2015.

Born in Fairfield, Connecticut, James Whiteside began his training at age nine at the D’Valda & Sirico Dance and Music Centre, where guest faculty included Charles Kelley, Franco De Vita and Raymond Lukens. He continued his training at the Virginia School of the Arts for one year under the direction of Petrus Bosman and David Keener. In 2002, Whiteside joined Boston Ballet II, where he continued to train under the tutelage of its director Raymond Lukens, now director of ABT’s National Training Curriculum. Whiteside joined the corps de ballet of Boston Ballet in 2003 and became a second soloist in 2006. He was promoted to first soloist in 2008 and to principal dancer with Boston Ballet in 2009. collection at SENIORS n Gracie Gage is a senior at Marathon High School where she is involved in Student Council, Future Business Leaders of America, and plays on the Varsity Golf Team. Believing it is important to serve the community, Gracie volunteers at Aspirus Wausau Hospital and as a “Big Sister” with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. After graduation, Gracie plans to attend a four year university to major in nursing. Gracie began dancing at Central Wisconsin School of Ballet at the age of five. Throughout the years, she has had the privilege to perform many roles, her most memorable being Clara and Chocolate in The Nutcracker, Lead Mummy in Thriller, Cuckoo Bird in Carnival of the Animals, a fairy in Sleeping Beauty, and the Kitri and Lilac Fairy variations. Gracie would like to thank her parents for their endless love and support; her little sister and best friend, Lily, for lending a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on; her brothers, extended family, and friends for coming to her performances; and her Grandma Ellie for always sewing her pointe shoes. Megan Johnson is a senior at Wausau East High School where she is the president of Key Club, a member of the curling team, and a full IB diploma candidate. She is planning to attend college in the fall to obtain her undergraduate degree in History and then plans on attending Law School. Megan began dancing at the age of three and has been dancing with Central Wisconsin School of Ballet since she was five. Her favorite roles include White Rabbit in Alice in Wonderland and the Dewdrop Fairy in the Nutcracker. Julianna Abuzzahab Julia Abuzzahab is a senior at Wausau East High School where she is the senior editor of their yearbook, link crew member, National Honors Society inductee, and a part of girls’ tennis. She has also been involved in piano for _ years. She plans on attending university next fall and majoring in communications. Julia’s proudest accomplishments while being involved with ballet include performing the roles Clara and Snow Queen in The Nutcracker, a fairy in Sleeping Beauty, dancing variation from Swan Lake, and having the opportunity to present many solos during our summer showcases. SERVING YOU SINCE 1927 runkel.com Patrik Kasper Artistic Director - Patrik began his career in dance movement as a professional dancer, training with the Joffrey Ballet in New York City and the Central Wisconsin School of Ballet. He danced professionally with companies throughout the country and in 1992 was a finalist in the Varna International Ballet Competition. As Artistic Director for the acclaimed Wausau Dance Theatre, he is constantly calling upon his professional dance and production experience as well as his heralded success in working with children. Patrik has been recognized for his work by Dance Magazine, Dance Teacher magazine, various national publications and the State Department of Tourism. Bringing dance and movement to children has been one of Patrik’s missions. Fittingly, he founded Sneaker Moves®, an outreach program delivered in schools throughout the state to get kids moving and living healthier, happier lives. It has been recognized by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction as a best-practice fitness program. Its delivered through the 21st Century Grants program and has expanded to include Sneaker Moves® Pilates, Yoga for Kids, A Moving Adventure and Making The Connection. Patrick is also an American Ballet Theatre® Certified Teacher from Primary through Level 5 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum. Annaluna E. Karkar, Executive Director - Annaluna began dancing with her mother, Waltraud Karkar, before she could walk at the Central Wisconsin School of Ballet, and was a scholarship student at the Joffrey Ballet School in New York City. She continued her training with Dame and Wayne Stewarte, both of . Moving from in front of the audience to behind the scenes, her extensive background in production includes work in Los Angeles, CA for Telepictures, LMNO Productions, Warner Brothers, and Universal Studios. Her many interesting experiences include work for the Ford’s Theater Benefit under the Clinton Administration. Annaluna has been a panelist for the Wisconsin Arts Board since 2001 and a speaker at many conferences most notably the Arts Midwest Conference and Arts Day. She has been on the Board of Directors of United Cerebral Palsy, Chairs and Cares Model Accessible House, Inc., CSSW, the WI Alliance for Arts Education for which she served as interim Executive Director, and is currently a Board member of the Women’s Community, Inc. Annaluna is the recipient of the YWCAs Women of Vision award and five consecutive National Endowment for the Arts Awards for works in performance and education. Married to James Collison, with two fabulous children, and proudly holds a first degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon do. James Leitner has been the lighting designer for WDT since 2000. He was the company lighting designer for the Milwaukee Ballet from 1981 until 2004. Other Wisconsin collaborations include lighting for the Florentine Opera, Skylight Opera, DanceWorks, The Marcus Center, and the UWM Dance Department and the Vail International Dance Festival. When not in a theatre, he lives just outside Philadelphia. Derryl Yeager, Choreographer, a professional dancer for over two decades, has experience in every style and medium of dance. Mr. Yeager received his BFA and MFA while becoming a principal dancer with Ballet West. He then went on to perform in several Broadway shows such as A Chorus Line, Dream Girls, and Cats. He has performed in numerous films and television programs including: Staying Alive, She’s Having My Baby, Moonlighting, The Tracy Ullman Show, and General Hospital. As a choreographer he has also worked in every style and medium, choreographing music videos for such stars as Stevie Nicks, Julio Iglesias, and Paula Abdul. Mr. Yeager is currently the Artistic Director of the Odyssey Dance Theatre and had the great honor of choreographing the opening ceremonies at the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City. Jeanene Russell Perry started her dance training with Madame Waltraud Karkar and went on to train at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Moscow, Russia, under the direction of Sofia Golovkina, Director of the Institute. She was the first American to receive a Diploma of Completion of Studies from the prestigious institution. She danced with Ballet Arizona in Phoenix, AZ, The Chautauqua Ballet Company in Chautauqua, NY , and with Charlotte Ballet in Charlotte. Jeanene has lived and toured all over the globe performing hundreds of . She has had numerous roles created for her by well-known choreographers including “The Soul” in Dreamer by Alonzo King. She has performed principal roles in Giselle, the Nutcracker, Raymonda, Sleeping Beauty, In the Middle Somewhat Elevated, and many others. She has choreographed several full length ballets as well a numerous other works. She is most proud of her Ballet Goodnight Day about the Holocaust. It was recently featured in the 10th anniversary celebration of the International Butterfly Project in collaboration with the Charlotte Ballet. She has been both a guest instructor and speaker at UNC Charlotte and Davidson College. In addition to her dance accomplishment, she is a certified Pilates Instructor and Master Teacher. She is on staff at Charlotte Ballet and is currently writing her first book about dance.
