RESOLVED, that on the recommendation of the Administration

and the Budget & Finance Committee, the Board of School 1. RLR Directors of the Conrad Weiser Area School District approves the Computer lease with Vantage Financial, LLC, 444 Second Street, Excelsior, Lease MN 55331 for 458 computers and 216 Ipads for the district at an annual cost of $98,760.00.

Note: This lease is budgeted for in the 2018-19 school year.

2. RLR approves the following physicians for the 2017-18 school year and Physicians establishes the rates of $14.00 per student medical exam:

RESOLVED, that on the recommendation of the Administration

and the Extra-Curricular Committee, the Board of School 1. RAG Directors of the Conrad Weiser Area School District authorizes Act 80 Day the administration to apply for an Act 80 day for Monday, October 9, 2017.

2. RAG approves June 15, 2018 to be the last day for teachers and Last Day academic year support employees for the 2017-18 school year.

HUMAN RELATIONS COMMITTEE - Gary G. Neider, Chairperson

RESOLVED, that on the recommendation of the Administration

and the Human Relations Committee, the Board of School 1. RGG Directors of the Conrad Weiser Area School District approves the Hire Cert Math Instr employment of Julie Bennick as a part-time certificated math Aide instructional aide at the High School through the rest of the school year.

Note: Ms. Bennick’s salary will be paid through Substitute Teacher Services.

2. RLR accepts, with regret, the resignation of Janell Gravitt, part-time Resign- SP ED Instr Aide special education instructional aide at East Elementary School, effective April 20, 2018.

2. RLR approves the employment of Jennifer Baker, 510 Gamma Drive, Hire- SP Ed Instr. Aide Wernersville, PA 19565, as a part-time (4.5 hours/day) special education instructional aide at East Elementary, at an hourly rate of $10.15, pending receipt of all required documentation.

Note: This is a replacement for Jennifer Harvey, (resigned).

8. RAG ratifies and approves the employment of Melissa Modugno, 208 S. LTS HS English Northkill Road, Bernville, PA 19506, as a long-term substitute for Debra Boor, English Teacher at the high school, at a daily rate of $246.01 in accordance with the 2017-18 salary schedule, effective April 25, 2018.

Note: Education Level: Bachelors Undergraduate School: West Chester University Certification: Instr. I – English 7-12 Experience: LTS Hamburg Area SD Employment: April 25, 2018 Initial Assignment: LTS HS English

Note: Should the regular employee return to this position prior to the end of the school year, the long-term employment is terminated.

1. RLR Discussion, re: Substitute Nursing Services

2. RLR authorizes the proposed tentative budget of $ and sets June 20, 2017 for the final adoption of the 2018-19 budget.

Note: This represents a mill tax increase.

3. RLR approves the Berks County Joint Purchasing Agreement between Conrad Weiser Area School District and the Berks County Joint Purchasing Board for the purchase of materials, supplies, services, and equipment pursuant to Section 521 and Section 1859.1 of the Public School Code.

4. RAG appoints Leah Rotenberg, Esquire, and Mays, Connard & Rotenberg, of 1235 Penn Avenue, Suite 202, Wyomissing, PA 19610, as solicitor for the Conrad Weiser Area School District beginning July 1, 2018, for a one-year term ending June 30, 2019, at an annual retainer fee of $5,000.00; with additional work at a rate of $148.00 per hour; and the rate of $155.00 per hour for any possible negotiation services;

and further,

RESOLVED, that the Board of School Directors for the Conrad Weiser Area School District and the solicitor shall enter into the attached agreement. (Attachment A-1)

-3- 05/02/18 5. RLR approves the district’s participation in a consortium with the Berks County Intermediate Unit for legal services provided by Sweet, Stevens, Katz & Williams, LLP, regarding technology issues in education at a cost of $750.00 for the 2018-19 school year.

6. RLR rescinds the authorization of Scott Michael, representing the athletic department, to sign for the payment of any expenditure from the athletic fund.

7. RLR authorizes William Harrison, representing the athletic department, to sign for the payment of any expenditure from the athletic fund.

8. RLR rescinds the authorization of Kristin Minch, representing the Middle School, to sign for the payment of any expenditure from the activity fund.

9. RLR approves Jonathan Holota, representing the Middle School, to sign for the payment of any expenditure from the activity fund.

1. RGG approves a field trip for three student members of the American Computer Science League (ACSL), under the supervision of Kirk Aulenbach, to attend the ACSL All-Star Contest at Barrington High School, Barrington, RI from May 25 to May 27, 2018.

Note: The cost to the District, which is part of the high school budget, will be approximately $1,480.00.

2. RGG approves the request of Ag/FFA, under the direction of Adam Serfass and John Siefert to participate in the State FFA CDE and Activities Week at Penn State University (State College) on June 12, 13 and 14, 2018. The cost to the District will be for two vans and registration fees for the advisors.

Note: Money has been budgeted for this trip from the Ag budget.

3. RLR Discussion, re: Additional teacher for West to serve as ½ gifted and ½ STEM teacher.

4. RAG approves Reading Area Community College guidelines of the Dual Enrollment Program/Dual Enrollment Agreement with Conrad Weiser School District for academic year 2018-19 as presented. Courses approved under this agreement for academic year 2018-19, and will be taught by Lynne Angstadt, Business Education faculty, Adelle Schade and Julie Bennick, Biomedical Science faculty, and Beverly Wolfe, Mathematics faculty. Under this partnership with Reading Area Community College, Conrad Weiser students will pay a reduced tuition rate of $99 per credit for these courses taught at Conrad Weiser High School.
