(2) The songs have been selected for "all sorts and conditions of men," so that young, middle-aged and old, the serious minded, the frivolous, old-timers, up-to-daters, all may find something to their liking. The book, therefore, is not for soloists, but is for chorus recrea- tion in camp, (in war and in peace), at banquets, at lodge, in class rooms, on the march, in canoe,—wherever good fellowship breaks forth in song. The selection is inclusive, not exclusive. The arrangement is alphabetical in three parts. In the first are mostly old favorites, in the second, more recent productions, and in the third, standard hymns. It is hoped that the book in its scope and arrangement will be found to be something new and practical. As to tunes the reader is referred to page 6.
