NHESP is responsible for the conservation and protection of hundreds of species that are not hunted, fished, trapped, or commercially harvested in the state. The Program's highest priority is protecting the 176 species of vertebrate and invertebrate animals and 259 species of native plants that are officially listed as Endangered, Threatened or of Special Concern in Massachusetts. Endangered species conservation in Massachusetts depends on you! A major source of funding for the protection of rare and endangered species comes from voluntary donations on state income tax forms. Contributions go to the Natural Heritage & Endangered Species Fund, which provides a portion of the operating budget for the Natural Heritage & Endangered Species Program. NHESP protects rare species through biological inventory,

Więcław2 Key words Abstract – All the material of the section Phaestoglochin that is kept in the herbarium of Naturalis Biodiversity Center in Leiden (L), in total 817 collections, has been revised in order to get a better understanding and a more Carex divulsa complete overview of the occurrence of the four native species of this section in the Netherlands: Carex divulsa, C. Carex leersii leersii, C. pairae and C. spicata. Carex muricata s. str. proves to be not native in the Netherlands. A key is provided Carex muricata for the identification of (Dutch) plants belonging to this section. Carex pairae Carex spicata – Al het materiaal van de sectie Phaestoglochin in het herbarium van Naturalis Biodiversity Center te Cyperaceae Samenvatting Leiden (L), in totaal 817 collecties, is gerevideerd om zo een beter begrip en een completer beeld van het voorkomen Phaestoglochin van de vier inheemse soorten van deze sectie in Nederland te krijgen: Carex divulsa, C. leersii, C. pairae en C. spicata. Carex muricata s. str. blijkt niet inheems te zijn in Nederland. Een sleutel is toegevoegd om (Nederlandse) planten van deze sectie te kunnen determineren. Bradley Southern Science & Information Section Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources Peterborough, Ontario Revised Edition, 2007 Southern Ontario Vascular Plant Species List This species checklist has been compiled in order to assist field biologists who are sampling vegetative plots in Southern Ontario. It is not intended to be a complete species list for the region. The intended range for this vascular plant list is Ecoregions (Site Regions) 5E, 6E and 7E. i Nomenclature The nomenclature used for this listing of 2,532 plant species, subspecies and varieties, is in accordance with the Ontario Plant List (OPL), 1998 [see Further Reading for full citation]. This is the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resource’s publication which has been selected as the corporate standard for plant nomenclature. There have been many nomenclatural innovations in the past several years since the publication of the Ontario Plant List that are not reflected in this listing. However, the OPL has a listing of many of the synonyms that have been used recently in the botanical literature. Twenty new plant species were discovered for the park and the status for two others was revised. We estimate that 72% to 81% of the “potential flora” (plant species known to occur in the park plus those expected to occur) is known from the park. This is a slight increase from the 71% – 79% previous estimated. Georeferenced locations of new and significant species are provided, as is a revised checklist of the vascular plants of Voyageurs National Park. ______________________________________________________________________________________ Northern Bioscience Page 1 October 2003 Potential Flora of Voyageurs National Park ________________________________________________________________________ Introduction Harris and Foster (2003) estimated the “potential flora” (plant species known to occur in the park plus those expected to occur) of Voyageurs National Park at 934 to 1045 species, of which 740 were satisfactory reported from the park. The National Park Service’s goal is to verify >90% of all plants expected to occur in the park area. In 2003, the Great Lakes Network Inventory and Monitoring Program funded fieldwork to increase the proportion of known species. Methods We checked fens, cliffs, prairie-like openings, shorelines and roadsides for plant species expected to occur in Voyageurs National Park based on Harris and Foster (2003). Fieldwork was completed June 23 – 25, July 22 – 24 and August 13 – 15 2003. A map of sampling locations is shown in Figure 1.

With 10 figures Taxonomy and new taxa of the Carex divulsa aggregate in Eurasia (section Phaestoglochin, Cyperaceae) ANA MOLINA*, CARMEN ACEDO and FÉLIX LLAMAS Downloaded from https://academic.oup.com/botlinnean/article/156/3/385/2418228 by guest on 28 September 2021 Department of Biodiversity and Environment Management, University of León, E-24071, León, Spain Received 6 March 2006; accepted for publication 27 September 2007 The Carex divulsa aggregate, belonging to the Carex muricata group in section Phaestoglochin (Cyperaceae), was studied using 60 macro- and micromorphological characters over a wider geographical range than has been attempted previously, and the status or identity of several taxa commonly associated with this aggregate was examined. The results of numerical analysis support the recognition of six new species within the Carex divulsa aggregate, which are also in accordance with their geographical circumscription. Carex cyprica is endemic to Cyprus, C. enokii is from the Mediterranean Basin, C. magacis from the mountains of Spain and France, C. nordica from Northern Europe, and C. egorovae and C. otomana from Eastern Europe and Central Asia. The morphological data were coded and used in a phylogenetic analysis to discover the relationships between taxa. A key to all taxa belonging to the aggregate is included. Diagnostic characters, illustrations, and detailed descriptions of all species are given.
