TROUBLESHOOTING ------------------------- THQ thoroughly tests its games on a variety of systems before they are released, but it is virtually impossible to test on all combinations of software and hardware. Many of the issues you may encounter are caused by device drivers for video cards, sound cards and DVD-ROM drives that are not fully compatible with the Windows operating system and/or DirectX. The following troubleshooting tips are intended to assist you in solving some of the common issues you might experience in relation to the game. ---------DirectX 9.0c for Windows--------- For those unfamiliar with DirectX, it is an API (Application Programming Interface) set that increases the functionality and speed at which games play under the Windows operating system. These API's allow direct access to the enhanced features of hardware under Windows. With DirectX, a program has instant access to the hardware, allowing for great advances in graphics, sound, video, 3D and network capabilities of games. If you have other Windows games on your computer, chances are you already have an earlier version of DirectX installed. In this case, it is recommended to install Microsoft DirectX 9.0c. This should not affect any games using previous versions of DirectX. Should you encounter problems with DirectX, go to http://www.microsoft.com/directx/ for additional information. ---------Customer Support--------- If you have any comments and/or questions about 'Disney-Pixar Ratatouille' or an y other THQ products, please feel free to contact our customer support department. • Identity and Identification in the Historical Video Games Set in the Middle Ages
FACTIONS AND NATIONS: IDENTITY AND IDENTIFICATION IN THE HISTORICAL VIDEO GAMES SET IN THE MIDDLE AGES JUAN FRANCISCO JIMÉNEZ ALCÁZAR UNIVERSIDAD DE MURCIA SPAIN Date of receipt: 1st of February, 2021 Date of acceptance: 9th of March, 2021 ABSTRACT Historical video games offer players the opportunity to choose different options for managing factions and nations of the past, with which they can come to identify. The interactive and immersive nature of the medium makes this possible, and the thrill of winning or losing is enhanced by this ability to assimilate. The study focuses on those set in the medieval period, where factions respond to the various historical stages that define it. In this identity process through the video game, the player assumes a virtual role in which individual or group feelings that historically define their identity are reflected. These titles, as products of cultural expression, are also manifestations of those who have designed them, and inaccuracies due to cultural clichés or factors to be more entertaining —playability— are often resolved by gamers through the mod phenomenon. KEY WORDS Historical video game, Middle Ages, Identity, Nation, Avatar. CAPITALIA VERBA Historicorum Videoludi, Medium Aevum, Identitas, Natio, Locumtenens. IMAGO TEMPORIS. It is not necessary, regardless of the position one may hold in principle about this phenomenon. Video games are a medium that came to stay and their globalization is already a fact.

  • 1 “I Grew up Loving Cars and the Southern California Car Culture. My Dad Was a Parts Manager at a Chevrolet Dealership, So V
“I grew up loving cars and the Southern California car culture. My dad was a parts manager at a Chevrolet dealership, so ‘Cars’ was very personal to me — the characters, the small town, their love and support for each other and their way of life. I couldn’t stop thinking about them. I wanted to take another road trip to new places around the world, and I thought a way into that world could be another passion of mine, the spy movie genre. I just couldn’t shake that idea of marrying the two distinctly different worlds of Radiator Springs and international intrigue. And here we are.” — John Lasseter, Director ABOUT THE PRODUCTION Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Studios are off to the races in “Cars 2” as star racecar Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) and his best friend, the incomparable tow truck Mater (voice of Larry the Cable Guy), jump-start a new adventure to exotic new lands stretching across the globe. The duo are joined by a hometown pit crew from Radiator Springs when they head overseas to support Lightning as he competes in the first-ever World Grand Prix, a race created to determine the world’s fastest car. But the road to the finish line is filled with plenty of potholes, detours and bombshells when Mater is mistakenly ensnared in an intriguing escapade of his own: international espionage. Mater finds himself torn between assisting Lightning McQueen in the high-profile race and “towing” the line in a top-secret mission orchestrated by master British spy Finn McMissile (voice of Michael Caine) and the stunning rookie field spy Holley Shiftwell (voice of Emily Mortimer).
