WORLD KARATE CONFEDERATION WKC – Presidential Office Terazije 13/V WKC Belgrade, Serbia e-mail: [email protected] NEWSLETTER www.wkc-org.net NO. 1/2016 From the President Dear friends, We are approaching the major WKC event in 2016 - the 11th World Championships for Cadets, Juniors and Seniors and World Cup for Children, that will take place on the last weekend of June in a fantastic location – well known Italian coastal resort of Rimini. There are extensive preparations going on in Italy, as our hosting federation – FIAM will do their best to organize a wonderful Championships. In order to make possible the participation of athlethes worldwide, the ExCom has decided to organize a World instead of a European Rimini, the venue of the the 11th WKC event. Therefore we wish to encourage all federations to attend World Championships for Cadets, Juniors and and contribute the success of the Championships. Seniors and World Cup for Children The second reason to make this championships a world event was the cancellation of the Open World Championships in Jakarta, In- donesia, that we planned to organize under the roof of Tafisa in October this year. WKC was invited to the TAFISA Martial Arts Meeting on 22nd Feb- ruary 2016 in Frankfurt/Main / Germany. The meeting was attend- ed by Mr. Roland Dietrich, Vice-President and it was chaired by Mr. Wolfgang Baumann, TAFISA Secretary General. Mr. Dietrich reported to the ExCom that TAFISA made major chang- es regarding the venue: instead of the original venue, a multi sport complex with a lot of sporthalls and other sport facilities, 6th TAFI- SA World Games will take place in a leisure and amusement park Note: A special newsletter will be published which does not offer any sporthalls or exhibition halls. The idea is very soon, with full information on the event: to use the whole area of the leisure park for demonstrations of the sporthall, accommodation and programme. different member federations. Therefore, under the circumstances described in the report we have made the decision to cancel the FEDERAZIONE ITALIANA organization of the World Championships in Jakarta.
