RIO LACRO TA S N SE O 2018 ENTRY DRAFT LACROSSE Major Series Lacrosse Announces 2018 Entry Draft Selections Schedule Oakville, ON – January 24, 2018 – The 2018 Major Series Lacrosse (MSL) Entry Draft of graduating junior-aged players will take place this Sunday, January 28th at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre in Oakville, Ontario. The Major Series Lacrosse Entry Draft is scheduled to begin shortly after 2:00PM EST. Updates will be live-tweeted and fans are encouraged to following along with @MajorSeriesLax. Full results can be found online following the draft at www.majorserieslacrosse.ca and www.ontariolacrosse.com. A total of 30 players will be drafted over five rounds by the six MSL teams: Brampton Excelsiors, Brooklin Redmen, Cobourg Kodiaks, Oakville Rock, Peterborough Lakers and Six Nations Chiefs. The tentative draft order is found on the following page, but the order is subject to change based on trades or agreements between the teams’ general managers. Of note is the fact that the Cobourg Kodiaks have 12 of the 30 available selections (40%) to be made in the 2018 Major Series Lacrosse Entry Draft. This includes four selections in Round 2 and four selections in Round 3. Round 4 is the only round where all six MSL teams will make a selection. The hosting Oakville Rock will select twice in Round 1, while the 2017 Ontario finalist Six Nations Chiefs won’t make their first selection until Round 3 (15th overall, halfway through the draft). The league is comprised of six teams: Brampton, Brooklin, Cobourg, Oakville, Peterborough and Six Nations. Each year, the top four playoff teams compete for the right to face the Western Lacrosse Association (WLA) champion for the Mann Cup Senior “A” Box Lacrosse Championship of Canada, which is hosted annually in alternating years between Ontario and British Columbia. In 2017, the Peterborough Lakers defeated the WLA’s New Westminster Salmonbellies in Game 6 of the Best of Seven series to capture their 17th franchise Mann Cup Championship title..
