It is a high honor to be Alvin Thornton, Ph.D. selected as members of the PGCPS Hall of Fame’s inaugural class. Prince George’s County Public Schools 2019 Hall of Fame Gala Like None Other 3 Red Carpet Host Joe Clair Joe Clair, host, comedian, radio personality and on-air veteran is no stranger when it comes to Washington, D.C. This native of Seat Pleasant, MD is the current host of WPGC’s 95.5 – “Joe Clair Morning Show”, taking the morning airwaves by storm and making the drive to work much more enjoyable for listeners across the DMV. He is a proud graduate of Morgan State University, where he pledged Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, but found his passion for comedy, music and communications. Joe Clair is a multifaceted entertainer with a career spanning two decades. You can call him Joe, Cleezy or Mr. Clair. Whatever you call him, it is undeniable that Joe Clair is 100%. Whether it is in the radio, comedy game, hosting arena, acting or community service, Joe Clair definitely gets in it. Joe has a huge passion to help others which is constantly displayed through his call for community service. He continues to show the community he cares accepting up to 10 appearances a month on countless speaking engagements and appearances with elementary and high schools, organizations, youth programs, community town hall forums and fundraisers, etc. All while currently serving as the lead weekly mentor and instructor of music for the DC Covenant House, engaging and inspiring students with skills to produce music. Joe has received many honors for his role as a philanthropist, some acknowledgments include: Northern Virginia Urban League Young Professionals Network, The Covenant House Annual Gala and The Made Man. Aside from being a humanitarian, Joe Clair has also seen a bit of time in front of the camera. He has been in a string of movies and videos going back to his college days. While at Morgan State University, he starred in “Axe ’Em,” he was in “Train Ride,” he starred in the DVD hit gospel/romantic comedy “Lord Help Us,” he co-starred in “The Greatest Song,” and starred in “He Said, She Said: A Romantic Comedy.” He had parts on Fox’s “The War at Home” and ABC Family’s “GREEK.” 4 The Excellence in Education Foundation for PGCPS, Inc. Mistress of Ceremonies Tracee Wilkins Tracee Wilkins is NBC4’s Prince George’s County Bureau Chief. Her roots run deep in Prince George’s County. She was raised in the Beltsville area and graduated from High Point High School. An African-American Studies minor in college, Tracee traveled to Tanzania teaching African American History and wrote for the Arusha Times. After graduating from Frostburg State University in Frostburg, Maryland, she returned to DC as a production assistant and later as a news writer for News4. Tracee’s WCBI-TV in Columbus, Mississippi where she earned an Associated Press award for her general news reporting. From Columbus, she headed east to serve as the government reporter and fill-in anchor at WFMY-TV in Greensboro, North Carolina where she earned additional awards. While working in Greensboro, Tracee was dispatched to Washington DC to report on the September 11th attacks for WUSA-TV. Tracee returned to NBC4 in 2003 and served many years as the station’s morning reporter. Now, as NBC4’s Prince George’s County Bureau Chief, she covers county government, economic development, education, crime and human interest. Tracee is very active in the Washington-area community and has received awards for her philanthropic work. She founded and operated a teen-mentoring group called Girls R Talking for several years. Tracee is a member of the Federal City Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and is an active member in the National Association of Black Journalists. She’s News4’s shop steward for anchors and reporters and serves on regional and national boards for the SAG-AFTRA Union. 2019 Hall of Fame Gala Like None Other 5 Invocation Pastor Jonathan Weaver Reverend Dr. Jonathan Leslie Weaver, accepted his appointment to Greater Mt. Nebo African Methodist Episcopal Church in April of 1988. Since that time the Greater Mt. Nebo Family has increased from 100 members to more than 1,200 and has approximately 50 ministries that serve the church and the greater community. Under Dr. Weaver’s leadership, Greater Mt. Nebo purchased 90 acres of land in 1994, where their current house of worship is situated. Upon its completion, the Greater Mt. Nebo campus, located in Bowie, Maryland, will also house an assisted-care living facility and a Family Life and Wellness Intergenerational Center. He is a graduate of St. Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore, Maryland; earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Washington University in St.
