WWW.PAIZO.COM Jeff Laubenstein FINAL RESTING PLACE Hrodel by Michael Kortes Most adventurers like to think that when their number is finally up, their colleagues will bring them home, either to be raised or at least returned to their families for a proper burial. But take heart, and know as you read these words I am finally at peace. Since Lyra died, I have wished only to escape from this life with honor, that I might have relief from the ever-present sorrow that burdens my soul. To you, I commit all my earthly possessions. This should allow you to live out the rest of your days in peace and security. I have only one last request of you, my darling; the doom of an adventurer is often to die far from home, unburied and forsaken. I beg of you, if you would honor my memory, to retrieve my body from whatever pit or mountain it may lie upon, and return it here to Galehaven. Lay me to rest beside my wife, so that my spirit may be reunited with hers forever. Dungeon #122 Map & Handout Supplement © 2005 Wizards of the Coast, Inc. Winning Races: Tieflings Secrets of Bael Turath By Mike Mearls Illustrations by Tyler Jacobsonr When the humans of Bael Turath struck their deal with the lords of Hell, they earned more than a dra- matic change to their appearance. As part of the pact, they learned new fighting techniques, mastered dia- bolic spells, and received a stockpile of weapons and armor forged in the depths of Hell. Although Bael Turath fell, many of the techniques used by its warriors remained. Bael Turath had many enemies, and to this day tieflings have a reputation for duplicity, wrath, and evil. Many of the specialized fighting schools faded from memory, stamped out by their enemies or lost in the chaos of the empire’s col- lapse. A few persist to this day, though, passed down from one generation to the next as a reminder of what was and, perhaps, what might be again. TM & © 2009 Wizards of the Coast LLC. All rights reserved. • Bestiary of the Realms: Volume 2
Bestiary of the Realms: Volume 2 by Thomas M. Costa and Eric L. Boyd Art by Noëlle Triaureau Editorial assistance from Joe “Warlockco” Weber A NOTE FROM THE AUTHORS Welcome to volume two of the Bestiary of the Realms. As this is our second volume, you’ll find several score new or converted monsters, as well as a few different interpretations of monsters that have already been converted. A word of caution, just as many official 3E and 3.5E monsters did not slavishly follow earlier write-ups of those monsters, neither do the monsters herein. Instead, we did our best to consider all sources, hopefully make full and creative use of the 3.5E rules (including non-core WotC books), and in many cases add a little bit here and there to many of the monsters, even if it was in only adding or updating their Realms lore. A few have even been renamed. One last note, we’ve done our best to include source references for all things where appropriate, except those found in the three core rulebooks or Expanded Psionics Handbook. Until then, Sword High! – Thomas M. Costa and Eric L. Boyd ABOUT THE AUTHORS Thomas M. Costa is a senior analyst with the Government Accountability Office. He has been a contributor to several Wizards of the Coast products including Demihuman Deities and Races of Faerûn, and is the author of several Dragon Magazine and Wizards of the Coast website articles. He can be reached at [email protected]. Eric L. Boyd is a software designer and freelance game designer.
