We Say a Sad Farewell to Our Magnificent Year 6 The newsletter of Goosewell Primary School Goosewell Road www.goosewell.plymouth.sch.uk Plymouth [email protected] PL9 9HD T: 01752 482960 Issue Headteacher : Mr John M Stephens So long, farewell, Auf Wiedersehen and thank you to Year 6! We say a sad farewell to our magnificent Year 6 children who have been a joy to have at the top of our school. Not only have they worked hard to achieve the best progress we have seen at Goosewell for many years, they have been fine ambassadors in the ways they have represented our school at sports, music and cultural events, helping visitors, encouraging and supporting younger children in their play and being superb, co-operative, dedicated and friendly members of our school. Only 48 children have been with us since their first day in Foundation Stage and 41 have joined at various times but each and every one has made a good contribution to our school. Last week, they presented a memorable performance of Pirates of the Curry Bean which saw them have perfect comedy timing, singing, acting and dancing to delight us all, make us laugh and be proud of their efforts and skills. They leave us this week to go to one of eight secondary schools and we wish them well for their future. All the best to: 6C Shareece, Oren, Olivia, Maxwell, Edward, Joel, Connor, Taylor, Katie, Harry, Bethany, Frankie, Evie, Telsea, Owen, Kushla, Ellis, Jack, Ryan, Jack, Chloe, Luke, James, Kimberley, Matthew, Logan, Matthew, Katie, Isabelle and Eloise. 6M Dylan, Sophie, Amelie, Daniel, Aaron, James, Joshua, Wiktor, Carson, Owen, Jayden, Holly, Henry, Erin, Liam, Ben, Reuben, Lucy, Thomas, Sasha, James, Tegan, Aiden, Ziggy, Marius, Megan, Darci, Barnaby, James and Layla. 6R Shanine, Edward, Brandon, Megan, Harry, Finlay, Nathan, Abbie, Grace, Lincoln, Alex, Courtney, Kayleigh, Rebecca, Alexander, Olivia, Jack, Chloe, Oliver, Ella, Orlando, Imogen, Arran, Leah, Shannon, Emma, Benjamin, Oliver, Richard and Victoria. Farewell We also say farewell to the following children who are moving away to other schools. Again, we wish them every success and happiness in their new homes. Goodbye to: Francis in FHA moving to Kingston upon Thames, Cora FEH to Redcar, Zach 1CB to Abu Dhabi, Owen 1CB to Hertford- shire, Amber 3GT to Northamptonshire, Sanskar 3B to York, David 5O to Harrow and Mia 4Y to St. George’s School. We wish Miss Brown a happy day as she gets married in Italy over the summer and will return tanned, happy and called Mrs Dowling. We wish her, her husband-to-be and family, a wonderfully special day. We also say farewell to Mrs Spencer who will start teacher training in September and to Miss Thompson and Miss Bammens who are moving to their new schools. Mrs Eagle will switch her computer off on Friday after 24 years of typing, greeting, helping and loving each and every child who has come into Goosewell to start her retirement. We wish her a long and happy one though we are sure she will pop into to see us regularly. Lost School Dinner reminders Green ‘Ice’ Watch lost on When your child starts Year 3 if they Thursday 2nd July by want a school dinner they will need top up Alyssa Green. If you should their account in readiness to pay for their come across it please hand meal. to Reception. Also if you have a child who is leaving Year 6 and they have a sibling here please Thanks. use that child’s name to access School Money. Thank you. Learning in the Holidays It is a well-known fact that all children can slip behind in their learning during the long summer holiday. To prevent the children having to crank themselves up in September, why not keep your children’s learning fresh, depending on their age. They could practise knowing their alphabet, counting, learning times tables and playing phonics, spelling and maths games on the Pupil / Year Group page on our website. On the Parents / Year Group pages, children can practise and learn to read and spell age appropriate words. You will have a Summer Reading Challenge letter tomorrow to encourage your child to keep reading throughout the holidays. Give it a go and let’s find out where they have read and what they have read. Next year, we will have a good focus on promoting books and reading as families and within school, so let the summer holiday be a time to get stuck into lots of books at the libraries and at home. Achievements Evening 2015 Thursday 6.00-7.00 p.m. We look forward to seeing those of you who have been invited to share in this special occasion where children from across the school are recognised for their very special efforts and for ‘using their talents’ this year. Abstract When Netflix launched in April 1998, Internet video was in its infancy. Eighteen years later, Netflix has developed into the first truly global Internet TV network. Many books have been written about the five broadcast networks – NBC, CBS, ABC, Fox, and the CW – and many about the major cable networks – HBO, CNN, MTV, Nickelodeon, just to name a few – and this is the fitting time to undertake a detailed analysis of how Netflix, as the preeminent Internet TV networks, has come to be. This book, then, combines historical, industrial, and textual analysis to investigate, contextualize, and historicize Netflix's development as an Internet TV network. The book is split into four chapters. The first explores the ways in which Netflix's development during its early years a DVD-by-mail company – 1998-2007, a period I am calling "Netflix as Rental Company" – lay the foundations for the company's future iterations and successes. During this period, Netflix adapted DVD distribution to the Internet, revolutionizing the way viewers receive, watch, and choose content, and built a brand reputation on consumer-centric innovation.

  • Better Call Saul's Portrayal of Electrical Sensitivity
Better Call Saul is the movie industry's first attempt at portraying electrical sensitivity Better Call Saul has the first fictional character with electrical hypersensitivity (EHS) on film and television. We review the three seasons where he appears, which is a mixture of facts and myths about the illness, but also some excellent filming and acting. Keywords: Better Call Saul, review, Chuck McGill, Michael McKean, Vince Gilligan, electrical sensitivity, electromagnetic hypersensitivity, fiction, television, Hollywood The first season of Better Call Saul aired in 2015. The main character is James "Jimmy" McGill who is a lawyer with a criminal background. He is a small-time operator in Albuquerque, New Mexico where he is struggling to make ends meet and stay on the ethical side of the law. One prospective client rejects hiring him by saying that he is "the kind of lawyer guilty people hire." Chuck McGill is Jimmy's older brother and everything Jimmy isn't. He is the senior partner in a large and successful law firm. He is highly respected, extremely smart and with a keen sense of what is proper behavior. Chuck is played by Michael McKean. 2 Better Call Saul As the series starts, Chuck has been sick for a year with extreme electrical hypersensitivity (EHS). He had to take a leave of absence from his law firm and isolate himself in his home where he has disconnected the electricity. He uses an ice chest as a refrigerator, a camping stove for cooking and Coleman (white gas/gasoline) camping lanterns for lighting. The story takes place in 2002.
