UNDER THE RAINBOW - Youth Exchange 16 – 24 September 2016 @ Mardin, Turkey The aim of this Youth Exchange is to guide young people to think critically and develop tolerance for different “colors” in a society.
DATE OF ARRIVAL : 16 September 2016 DATE OF DEPARTURE: 24 September 2016 LOCATION: Mardin,Turkey PARTICIPATING COUNTRIES: Spain, Italy, Norway, Turkey, France TARGET GROUP: Young people aged between 18-30 from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds, representatives of minorities in participant countries. AGE: 18 – 30 years old. For the group leader there is no age limit. WORKING LANGUAGE: English ORGANIZER: UNITED COLORS OF HUMANITY General objectives: - To enhance tolerance and empathy young people bear among each other - To raise awareness about human rights among young people with disadvantage and find adequate mechanism to fulfill them in daily life - To raise awareness about how beneficial it can be to live with ''differences'' - To understand how prejudices arise and how to overcome the prejudices - To collaborate and create ways to focus on similarities in diverse cultures - To identify the possible obstacles cultural diversity may cause - To find ways to turn the obstacles into opportunities - To promote global peace through the protection of the local - To learn to be ''united'' without losing ''uniqueness'' PARTNER INFO In total we will be approximately 27 participants including technical and logistics staff . Partner Counrties: France,Italy,Spain,Norway ACCOMODATION & LOCATION Mardin is a poetic city in Mesopotamia.Mardin has often been considered an open-air museum due to its historical architecture. Most buildings use the beige colored limestone rock which has been mined for centuries in quarries around the area. The whole city has been listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site under the "Mardin Cultural Landscape". Participants will be hosted at Antik Darius Hotel in Mardin, which is located in the old city. TRANSPORT &PICK UP There is only 1 airport that you can use to arrive in Mardin • Mardin Airport ( MQM) Participants will be picked up from Mardin Airport on the arrival day (16th of September) and departure day ( 24th of September ).When we get all PARTICIPANTS INFORMATION FILE , we will update you regarding the details about pick-up location and time. IMPORTANT: You can travel maximum 2 days before OR 2 days after the project dates. Before booking your flight send us your travel option and wait for confirmation. Organizations have time till the 29 September to find participants and book their flight. If the deadline is not respected, we will change the partner. There is no flight to Mardin from Europe.So you will be have to use probably Istanbul . For Istanbul- Mardin you can check flights here; www.thy.com (From Atatürk Airport & Sabiha Gökcen Airport ) www.flypgs.com ( From Sabiha Gökcen Airport) TRAVEL COSTS & REIMBURSMENT Below,you can find the maximum reimbursable travel cost per participant in EURO. These amounts are defined according to Erasmus+ program rules and they depend on the distance between departure city and Mardin. Spain -France-Norway = 400 Italy =270 There is no travel budget for Turkey. NOTE: If you exceed the travel budget, the difference will not be covered and you will have to pay for it. To receive reimbursement you need to provide us all the originals copies of plane, train or bus etc. that are used during your trip from departure city to Mardin. These include: • Tickets • Receipts • Boarding passes • Invoices We can’t reimburse: • Travel costs without these original • Taxi and private transportation
Reimbursement will be done through bank transfer 2-3 months after the project if all reimbursement, project conditions and rules are followed. There is a €20 participation fee.
NOTE: • You must follow deadlines • Each group has to prepare a 30 minutes/one-hour workshop relevant to the topic about the situation in its country • You should bring materials for cultural night (food, typical clothes, drinks, flag..) • You are wellcome to bring any instrument,materials you wish.
