Il Sismano Avigliano Umbro, nr Todi, Umbria Sleeps 8 guests, 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms DESCRIPTION Luxury Umbria villa rental with swimming pool - Il Sismano is a fully restored 17th century farmhouse, complete with all modern conveniences but still retaining an authentic charm and elegance. Ideally located five minutes' drive from a restaurant and local shops, Il Sismano makes an excellent base for exploring Umbria and its most picturesque hilltop towns and villages. The meticulous refurbishment planned and supervised by the owners has resulted in the creation of luxurious accommodation. All rooms are elegantly furnished and tastefully decorated in natural colours which complement the terracotta floors and exposed stone walls, so typical of this region. Wonderful views can be enjoyed from the garden, where the pergola makes an ideal spot for dining 'al fresco' with the Umbrian countryside as a glorious backdrop. Some of the finest Italian towns and hilltop villages, such as Todi, Assisi and Perugia to mention but a few, are within easy reach of Il Sismano, whilst several areas of outstanding natural beauty surround this villa and are well worth a visit. Day trips to Rome are quite feasible: you can drive in to the capital or you can pick up the train from nearby Terni - there are frequent departures and the journey takes about an hour and 20 minutes. INSIDER TIPS I have to mention the views from this lovely villa and the fact that the owner has added many considerate extra touches to make your stay here even more comfortable. Less well known than its neighbour Tuscany, Umbria is a beautiful region in central Italy and there are plenty of wonderful places to visit. Close by is the fascinating Dunarobba Fossil Forest where you can see the remains of 2 million-year-old trees, and you're not far from the famous Marmore waterfalls near Terni which were built by the Romans - the highest man-made falls in the world. If you are here in July, don't miss the major international hot-air ballooning competition at the nearby hilltop town of Todi - a very colourful and memorable sight.
