A group of abused and neglected children that had been profiled decades ago were revisited. Some of these children were so scarred by abuse and neglect that they are now in mental institu- tions, correctional facilities or drug rehabili- tation centers. A few died prematurely. However, there are others who managed to overcome comparable childhood stress and are now healthy, self-sufficient adults. The film helps to better understand the devastat- ing impact of childhood adversity as well as the inspiring characteristics of resilience.
