Persona 4 characters arcana

Continue Wikipedia article The playable characters of , supported by their Personas. From left to right; Teddie, Rise, Yosuke, Naoto, Kanji, Yu, Chie, and Yukiko. The plot of Atlus Persona 4's PlayStation 2 role-playing game focuses on a group of high school students who specialize in arresting the perpetrators responsible for the murders and kidnappings that occurred in their small town of Inaba starting April 11, 2011. The case is linked by the television world, a one-dimensional space where characters use altered i-ones called Personas to defeat shadows, creatures that represent hidden human thoughts that killed the first two victims. The protagonist is Yu Narukami, a high school student who moves to the town from the city. He met Yosuke Hanamura, son of the local department store manager; Chie Satonaka, an energetic girl with a strong interest in kung fu; Amagi Yukiko, a calm and delicate girl with a family who owns a local hostel; Kanji Tatsumi, a freshwoman with a punk reputation who hides a softer side; Teddie, a mysterious figure from the TV world who exists in the form of cartoon bear costumes; Rise Kujikawa, a popular teen idol who took a break from showbiz; and Naoto Shirogane, a well-known base detective. Persona 4 has been transformed into a manga and a series of anime series that bring different roles to the cast of the game, most notably the protagonist given his own name and personality. The game was also moved to PlayStation Vita and PC[1] as Persona 4 Golden, expanding many of the characters' stories and including a new story called Marie, a teenage girl linkedd to the Investigation Team. A follow-up to the fighting game, Persona 4 Arena, has investigative teams in a tournament competing against each other as well as characters from the Persona 3 preque section. Shigenori Soejima acts as the artistic director for the game and is responsible for character design. The general approach to character design and ultimately the context of the game is by drawn from the memory and explanation of the development staff on a rural, rural setting. The reception of the characters of the game is mostly positive, with different characters already considered favorable. This includes the actual personalities of the characters and the relationships established throughout the game. English dubbing also encountered the same reaction. Creator and designer Shigenori Soejima is responsible for designing the characters in Persona 4. With the series currently taking place in a fictional rural town rather than a city as in previous sections, characters originating from the city have a different hairstyle than in Inaba with 1UP.com commenting that Yu and Yosuke are more stylish. [2] The characters are not players that the player creates Social Links, a game mechanism in which players nurture friendships with characters to unlock Personas are strong, there is no pattern in their creation, but Soejima has vague memories of their actions based on his experience when he first heard the ideas. [2] However, due to the addition of a mysterious element in the game, the staff decided to make the characters act like real people. So none of them acted stereotypically with director Katsura Hashino saying this was because the world view was quite far from normal. [2] Each character's Shadows Selves means that the action takes character in their first scene due to appearances in Midnight Channel. While in this state, Shadows entertains audiences watching the show; When players meet real people with their respective Shadow Selfs, they behave more coherently. This led to the depiction of one of the shadows of the more famous character, Kanji, in order to behave in a stereotypical manner. At the same time, it also reveals more about its people as a whole. No changes were made to these scenes as they were intended to portray what the contrast between people seemed to be and what they really were. [2] Members of the Playable Characters Investigation Team are part of the investigative team responsible for finding and resolving murder and kidnapping cases that occurred in Inaba. When entering a dimension labeled as the TV world, they search for victims and use their Personas to defeat possible enemies. [3] At the end of the game, the Investigative Team is redeoned as Truth Seekrs (真実を追う仲間達, Shinjitsu o Ou Nakamatachi, literally Friends chasing the truth) as they find a reason behind the killings. Yu Narukami Details: Yu Narukami Voiced by Johnny Yong BoschVoiced by (Japanese): Daisuke Namikawa The protagonist is the protagonist controlled by Persona 4. In the anime and most other material, his name is Yu Narukami (鳴悠上, Narukami Yū?[ 4] while the manga named him Seta Sōji (瀬多 総司, Seta Sōji?). However, in both the original game and the enhanced persona 4 Golden re-version, as well as in Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth, players can choose any desired name for the character. He was a high school student who moved to rural Inaba to live with his uncle Ryotaro Dojima and cousin Nanako Dojima for a year due to his parents working abroad, and attended Yasogami High School, where he met most of the game's actors. [5] However, before arriving in Inaba, he was summoned by Igor and his assistant Margaret to the Velvet Room, who warned him of an imminent catastrophe, and that he would have to solve a mystery that year, or, otherwise, his fate would be marked by negativity. Yu has no dialogue in the game according to the tradition of megami tensei games, his Speech occurs in battle. [6] The protagonist owns Arcana of The Fool, shared by Persona Izanagi (イザシギ) and Wild Card (which allows him to use multiple Persona), but in the battle against Izanami he receives, from the combination of the powerful links he has created, arcana of the world allows the evolution of the person , Izanagi, into Izanagi-no-Okami. His entire personality is determined and portrayed by the actions and decisions in the player's game. As a result, Soejima designed him to look more ambiguous than the protagonist in Persona 3. [5] His character's design remains relatively similar to the original concept, with his tone and expression changing the most. [7] To emphasize his appearance from a city, Yu was given a separate style haircut in opposition to the citizens of Inaba. [2] Yosuke Hanamura Voiced by Yuri Lowenthal[8][9][10] Voiced by (Japanese): Showtaro Morikubo[11][12][13][14][15][16] Yosuke Hanamura (花村陽介, Hanamura Yōsuke?) was a teenager who moved to Inaba a year ago[17] To emphasize his roots from the city of Shigenori Soejima gave him accessories such as headphones and bicycles as well as fashionable hairstyles. [2] Minor changes were made to his design in the creation of the game. [18] Be friends with Yu shortly after the game begins, Yosuke is shocked to find that his friend Saki Konishi becomes the second victim from Inaba's murder. Noting clues between the victims and midnight channel, Yosuke and Yu travel to the world of television to investigate her death. [19] He eventually confronts his Shadow, who represents his outrage at living in a small farming town with very little to do, as well as his inner desire for something interesting to happen. [20] With yu and Teddie's help, Yosuke accepts his other persona and establishes an Investigation Team with him to find out who Saki's killer is. [21] Yosuke's Shadow becomes Persona Jiraiya (ジライヤ), a scary red human figure with a vague head resembling an animated frog decorated with shuriken in her hand, as well as a bell bottom. [21] As the first Shadow, Soejima designed it to make it similar to Jiraiya to convey the fact that Shadows and Personas are the same thing. [22] Yosuke uses two blades ranging from blunt white flags to knives to kunai in battle. During the player's interaction with Yosuke, he overcomes Saki's death and faces his feelings about Inaba accepting it as an interesting town despite his initial feelings. Later, Jiraiya transforms into Susano-o (スサノシ), a figure wearing a blue jumpsuit surrounded by a large saw blade with a fire rising from the head. [23] Apparently, unsymed audio suggests that Yosuke may have been a romantic choice for the protagonist, but was deleted at the last minute For unknown reasons.[24] In the re-release of Persona 4 Golden, Yosuke's Persona can once again transform into Takehaya Susano-o (タケハヤスサノシ), which gets a firefighter's costume, a large fireball like afro erupting from his head, and saw blades under his feet. [25] Yosuke acts as the player's Social Link with magician; [26] in the animated series, Yu's friendship with Yosuke is manifested by Yu's use of Pyro Jack (ジャックランタン, Jakkurantan? [27] During persona 4 Arena events, Yosuke is now a third-year student at Yasogami High School and he began hearing rumors that Midnight Channel was back. He goes to investigate along with Yu, Yukiko and Chie, and fights with Jiraiya. [28] He also acts as the protagonist of the persona 4 manga The Magician which focuses on his life in Inaba before the game begins. [29] Yuri Lowenthal enjoyed playing Yosuke due to the large number of events the character experienced although initially a comic relief. [30] Maeyama Takahisa played Yosuke in the stage play. Chie Satonaka Main article: Chie Satonaka Voiced by (English): Tracey Rooney (Persona 4), Erin Fitzgerald[32] (Persona 4 Arena onwards)Voiced by (Japanese): Yui Horie [12] Chie Satonaka (⾥中千 Satonaka Chie) is an optimistic girl with one[33] Although initially reluctant, she enters the world of television when her best friend Yukiko Amagi is thrown in , put you in danger. [34] There, Chie meets her Shadow, who represents her jealousy in terms of Yukiko's feminineness and talent, as well as her desire and need to maintain control over Yukiko. [35] With the help of Yu and Yosuke Hanamura, Chie confronts himself and joins the Investigation Team. [36] After her encounter with Shadow, Chie receives Persona Tomoe Gozen (トモシ, Tomoe?), a muscular female character wearing a yellow outfit and equipped with naginata, which she uses in combat while she performs kicks. [37] Throughout Yu's interactions with Chie (which can also be intimate), she discovers that she really wants to protect Yukiko without any potential selfish motivation. Later, Tomoe evolved into Suzuka Gongen (スズカゴンゲン), which had a yellow jumpsuit that turned black and was decorated with silver samurai armor. Her desire to protect people eventually inspired her to seek a career as a police officer. [38] In the persona 4 Golden re-release, Chie's Persona could evolve to the third level to become Haraedo-no-Okami (ハララドノシシカミ, Haraedo-no- Ōkami?), which has gold armor and long robes. [25] Chie acts as the player's Social Link with The Chariot; [39] this is symbolized in the animated series by Yu's use of Persona Ara Mitama (アラミタマ). [27] She was able to play in Persona 4 Arena alongside Tomoe Gozen; [28] In Persona 4 Arena, Chie and Yu, and Yukiko investigates after seeing Midnight Channel. When she entered, she was forced to fight with her friends as well as a man, Akihiko Sanada. [41] Minami Tsukui played her in the stage play. [31] In character design, various sketches were made with some of them reminiscent of previous Persona characters. [42] Yukiko Amagi voiced by Amanda Winn-Lee[8][9][10] Voiced by (Japanese): Ami Koshimizu[11][12][13][14][15][16] Amagi Yukiko (⼤城雪⼦, Amagi Yukiko?) is an elegant, in-house girl, famous in her school. Her family owns a famous ryokan in the city, and Yukiko is always busy preparing herself to take over the business. [43] She was named the next owner of the ryokan and felt oppressed by her expected duties. Despite her elegant appearance, she wears a changing side that is prone to matching laughter. [44] Yukiko became the third victim to be sent to the television world, where she confronted her Shadow, who represented her outrage over her fate having been chosen for her as the heir to the Amagi Inn and eager to be rescued. [45] With the help of the Investigation Team, Yukiko accepted her Shadow to become Persona Konohana Sakuya (シノハシサクヤ), a pink figure with cherry blossom-like wings using a fan as her weapon. [46] She joins the group to find the culprit behind the kidnappings and murders, and be friends with Yu, with the option of starting a romantic relationship with him (depending on the player's actions). [36] Yukiko voiced her desire for the protagonist to leave Inaba and find a career away from managing her family's hostel. Eventually, she changed her mind when she realized she couldn't find the heart to leave her family and staff supported her. [47] After such understanding, Konohana-Sakuya evolved into Amaterasu (アマテラス), a feminine, faceless character with yellow skin and metallic chamomile-like wings. In Persona 4 Golden, Yukiko's Persona can change again to become Sume-Omikami (スメシシミカミ, Sume-ōmikami?), with golden wings, more ornate shields and long flowing hair. [48] One thing that hindered Yukiko's preparation to take over the Amagi Inn was her cooking, which had a gastric rotation effect: her colleagues in the Investigative Team called it Mystery Food X. Chie and Rise were also bad chefs: this was what made Shinjiro Aragaki suffer in Persona Q Shadow of the Labyrinth. Yukiko represents the player's Social Links with The Priestess. [49] In the animated series, her friendship with Yu is symbolized by Yu's outreach to Persona High Pixie (ハイピクシー, Hai Pikushī?). [27] She also appeared in Persona 4 Arena with Konohana-Sakuya. [50] In the game's story mode, Yukiko has become a more successful chef compared to before, and when she learned that Midnight Channel was back, she investigated it along with her friends. [52] In of the character, different designs have been made, some of which differ significantly from Yukiko's interface in the game. [53] A young Yukiko appears in persona 3 Portable at the Amagi Inn, when the game's playable characters make a field trip to Inaba. [54] Yukiko is performed by Risa Yoshiki in the first stage play[31] and Yumi Sugimoto in the second. Kanji Tatsumi Details: Kanji Tatsumi Voiced by (English): Troy Baker (Persona 4, Persona 4 Arena, Persona 4 Golden and Persona 4 The Animation through episodes 1 through 12), Matthew Mercer (Persona 4: The Animation through episodes 13 to 26, Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth, Persona 4: Arena Ultimax and Persona 4: Dancing All Night)Voiced by (In Japanese) : Tomokazu Seki Kanji Tatsumi (巽 完⼆, Tatsumi Kanji) was a fifteen-year-old student in the first year of Yasogami High. He is a criminal who has a reputation as a bully, and is at the center of many rumors regarding a confrontation with a local biker gang. [55] As a result, he was initially given classic gang-style pompadour in the creation of his design. [56] The fourth victim was sent to the television world, and Kanji was revealed to have a complex with his Shadow revealing that he hated girls due to his criticism of the sewing and more interest in the boys. [57] After the protagonist's team came to save Kanji, he accepted that his Shadow was an important part of his identity, making it persona Take-Mikazuchi (タケミカズシ Take-Mikazuchi) a giant black robotic figure with the design of a skeleton all over his body, and equipped with a large beam of light 58] He, eager to discover who kidnapped him, then joined the Investigation Team, would begin to show more openly his sensitive side to others, and he would also show that he was quite naïve and airy, and not a few times would struggle to follow the group's reasoning about the case; however, in the most difficult moments, he will stand up and motivate others, before they can make concessions and be overcome by difficulties. [59] In his Social Link, he will increasingly confide in the Protagonist and show the fragile characteristics of his personality, his desire to go beyond the brand he is branded by others, and his passion for creating small luxury cars; In particular, he will begin to make them for a child who will ask him for help because he has lost his school friend's doll. The gratitude the child showed for his gesture led him to sell his puppet in his mother's fabric store. Reaching the highest level of his Social Links, Kanji confesses that his father, before told him that he had to be strong to be a real man, and that's why he always acted rudely and violently; eventually, however, he realized that it was not what his father meant, and and to be strong, he must stop lying to himself and act according to his true personality, without fear of the judgment of others. In this way, his Persona evolutions and becomes Rokuten Maou (シクテンマシウ), a red robotic humanoid, with a flame design all over his body and a pair of long and pointed mustaches, equipped with a large fire-like sword. In Persona 4 Golden, Kanji's Persona can once again be changed to Takeji Zaten (タケジザイテ ン), which is white and more powerful than its previous forms. His sexual orientation remains ambiguous in the series, with Kanji first interested in Shirogane Naoto when he first met her, ingesting that she was a boy, but still being attracted to her when it was revealed that she was a girl. [60] Atlus liked to leave Kanji's sexuality open to viewers. [61] Atlus senior project manager Masaru Nanba commented on Kanji and his Shadow's explanation in the west in an interview with Famitsu in 2013. [62] Kanji's social connections were represented by the Emperor; in the animated series, his friendship with Yu is symbolized by Persona King Frost (キングフシスト Kingu Furosuto). Oomi Youichirou portrays him in the stage play. Rise Kujikawa Voiced by Laura Bailey (all appearances except Dancing All Night),[8][9][63] Ashly Burch (Dancing All Night)[64] Voiced by (Japanese): [11][12][13][14][16] Rise Kujikawa (久慈川 Kujikawa Rise) is a cheerful girl and one of the most famous idols in Japan called Risette (Risechie (⼤せちー , Risechī) in Japanese). It is said that she even performed in Iwatodai (the setting of Persona 3) two years in the past, although an implied power outage was caused by her boss Arcana Hermit ruining that particular concert. However, she quit her job and moved to Inaba to live with her grandmother, tired of the limelight. [65] Shortly after arriving in Inaba, Rise was kidnapped and taken to the world of television, where she herself was shown. Rise's Shadow represents her anger at being stereotyped as a pop star, represented as a sex symbol. [66] When the protagonist and his friends come to her rescue, Rise accepts her Shadow as part of herself, sayingly claims that she does not have a real human being. Soon after, she gets Persona Himiko (ヒミシ), a black figure in a white dress with a satellite plate in place of a head, which she uses to help the Investigation Team stop Teddie's Shadow. [68] In an interview, Masaru Nanba of Atlus noted that Risechie would not translate well into Roman letters to the West, and that Risette sounded like France had been chosen instead. This also changed her slogan from Rise-Cheese (⼤せシーズ, Risechīzu?) to Push Risette (as in push the reset button). [62] Recovering from his experience in the world of Rise joins Investigative Team for follow-up behind the murders in the town, taking Teddie's place in the wars, analyzing enemies and advising her comrades. [69] During Yu's interactions with Rise, she was initially happy to leave behind the title Risette. However, numerous reminders of her time in the limelight, a new alternative idol and a letter from her biggest fans, made her regret her passing. Depending on the player's actions, Rise may end an intimate relationship with Yu. Recognizing that Risette is also part of her true identity, she speaks out about her plans to return to her idol job in the spring. [70] Later, Himiko developed into Kanzeon (カンゼシン), a white human figure with a more complex satellite disk than Himiko. [70] In Persona 4 Golden, Rise's Persona can grow again into Kouzeon (シゼウシン, Kōzeon?), which gets a head that resembles a telescope instead of a satellite, two pairs of other arms, and blue skin. In Golden, Rise is also more actively involved in battle, allowing her to directly support the party by giving strong lovers or choosing fallen fighters. [71] Rise is the player's Social Link with The Lovers; [72] in the animated series, her friendship with Yu is symbolized by Leanan Sidhe (リャシンシー, Ryanan Shī). [27] She also expresses unsomed affection for the protagonist, whom she simply calls Senpai throughout the game, and flirts with him consistently, regardless of social status. She appeared in Persona 4 Arena as a commentator,[73] with an impostor teasing the main characters in the story. [74] She became a playable character in the console version of Persona 4 Arena Ultimax using the microphone as her weapon; during these events, her supportive persona - Himiko - was converted to fight in confrontation with Elizabeth as a result of Rise's determination to be able to fight alone. Yuriya Suzuki from Cheeky Parade portrays her in theatrical production. Teddie Voiced by Dave Wittenberg (original game),[75] Sam Riegel (all other appearances)[8][9][76] Voiced by (Japanese): Kappei Yamaguchi[11][12][13][14][16] Teddie (クマ, Kuma, lit. Bear) is a strange part-clown, part bear-like creature, who resides inside the TV world. [77] Knowing that someone had thrown people in the television world to kill them, thus causing mayhem, Teddie promised Yu Narukami and Yosuke Hanamura to find the culprit. [78] Teddie helps the Investigation Team by giving them advice on how to defeat shadows or track down people thrown into the world. [79] As he interacted with the characters, Teddie began questioning his own existence and became curious about humanity's habits such as dating girls. [80] In Playing, Teddie also began puns referring to his name. Translations of these jokes into the English version have been noted as difficult by Atlus employees. [81] In a 2013 interview, Atlus Atlus' senior project Masaru Nanba stated that the change of Kuma to Teddie in Western localization was the result of the familiarity of the teddy bear concept for American and European players, and noted in particular the change of Kuma's verbal tic adding his name at the end of the sentence to the very to beary change in the English translation. [62] While fighting rise kujikawa's Darkness, Teddie seems to sacrifice himself to save his friends, defeating Shadow but becoming flat in the process. [82] After Rise accepted myself, saying that without me really, Teddie had an existing crisis; this causes his Shadow Self to manifest, representing Teddie's fear that his existence is superficial and hollow. [83] Supported by friends, Teddie accepts his doubts about his existence and his Shadow transforms into Persona Kintoki-Douji (キントキドウジ), a robotic character that resembles a rotten red boiler with moldy arms and legs and is equipped with tomahawk missiles [85] Later, through restoring his body through extensive training, Teddie developed a human-like body inside him and left the tv world. [86] Using her bear suit, Teddie began working in June and lived with Yosuke. [87] He also became an active member of the battle using claws as his weapon, with Rise replacing his position in support. When Yu's cousin, Nanako Dojima, dies after being sent to the television world, Teddie disappears from the real world. As the party searches for him, Teddie remembers that he is actually a Shadow, a man who wants people to like him and as a result, erases his memory and takes the shape of an animated bear. [88] After Nanako's resurrection, Yu finds Teddie in the Velvet Room, where Teddie reveals his origins as a Shadow and Yu informs him of Nanako's resurrection. After returning to reality and seeing Nanako, Teddie decides he will stay with the Investigation Team again despite being a Shadow with Kintoki developing into Kamui (カシイ), an animated face on a ball with his hand swiped at the end of the rocket. [89] After Izanami's defeat and the television world's return to its original state, Teddie decided he would return to the television world. [90] In Persona 4 Golden, Teddie gets a new Persona called Kamui Moshiri (カシイモシリ), which is a liner rocket wearing a crown and a long, flowing robe, with a star pattern and a rose symbol. [91] Teddie is the player's social link with The Star; [92] in the animated series, his friendship with Yu is symbolized by Saturnus (サ トゥルヌス, Saturunusu?) in Yu's recruitment. [27] In the persona 4 Arena next season and it follows, Ultimax, Teddie is impersoned by General Teddie as the host of the P-1 Grand Prix in tv world, a tournament between persona-users, while the fact is trapped inside the TV world and looking to find his friends in first tournament. Although Teddie had a peaceful day after saving Aigis' sister unit, Larry in the Grand Prix, Teddie was in the middle of work at Junes tonight, only to find out that Inaba is filled with a similar tv world appearance called Dark Hour, a set by General Teddie for his grand plans behind a new final P-1 Climax tournament. He encountered his impostor shortly before reuniting with his friends. When a real plan behind Climax is revealed for the destruction of mankind, General Teddie's true identity is revealed. Teddie can play alongside Kintoki-Douji. [93] Teddie's early designs introduced him as a more serious character. [94] Kappei Yamaguchi went on to play Teddie in the stage play. Naoto Shirogane Details: Naoto Shirogane Voiced by (English): Anna Graves (Persona 4, Persona 4 Arena and Persona 4 Golden),[95][8] Mary Elizabeth McGlynn (Persona 4 The Animation), Valerie Arem (Persona 4 Arena Ultimax onwards)[10] Voiced by (Japanese): Romi Park [11][12][13][14][15][16] Naoto Shirogane (⽩鐘直⽃ Shirogane Naoto) is a young detective who moves to Inaba to assist police in investigating the murder case Series. [96] Although Naoto is a woman, she dresses masculine and people in Inaba believe she is a boy. In an attempt to solve the murder case, Naoto uses himself as a decoy by appearing on TV and allowing himself to be kidnapped by the perpetrator. [97] The group follows Naoto into the television world, where Naoto faces her shadow, who expresses her frustration at being treated like a child by the police. [99] Naoto explained after Shadow Naoto was defeated because... The police department is a male-oriented society[, if] they have the smallest specific reason to despise me, no one needs me anymore, which is why she has been presented as male. [100] When Naoto was satisfied with her feelings, her Shadow transformed into Persona Sukuna-Hikona (スクシヒシシシ), a robotic figure wearing a blue suit jacket with an insect-like head and butterfly-like wings. [101] After Naoto recovered from her time in the television world, she joined the Investigation Team to find the culprit, having learned clues about his methods thanks to her abduction, using a handgun as her weapon. [102] Throughout Yu's interactions with Naoto, she regained her passion for becoming a detective. Depending on the player's actions, Naoto can become intimate with Yu. Naoto also decided that she was not a detective just to maintain her family tradition, but because she wanted to be and thoroughly enjoy it no matter her gender or age. Her persona then evolved into Yamato-Takeru (ヤマトタケル), a human figure in traditional armed forces uniform color and blue with a more bird-like appearance. [103] At the end of the game, Naoto decides to stay Inaba, it is unlikely what to do now that the case is closed. In Persona 4 Golden, Naoto features new character Yamato Sumera Mikoto (ヤマトスメラミシト), has red and blue outfits, and has long flowing blonde hair. Naoto is a character who links players to Fortune; [104] in the animated series, her friendship with Yu is symbolized by Yu's use of Persona Atropos (アトシポス, Atoroposu?). [27] Naoto appeared in Persona 4 Arena and its Ultimax next season alongside Sukuna-Hikona. [93] In the story, Naoto investigates Kirijo Mitsuru's team fighting the Shadows and follows them to the television world, where they end up participating in the persona user fighting tournament twice. Before the second tournament took place the day after the rescue of Aigis' sister unit, Labrys, Naoto is in the process of studying the history of Shadow Operatives/S.E.E.S.'s involvement with Dark Hour and Shuji Ikutsuki at night, but is interrupted by news from Labrys about Mitsuru's usual team being kidnapped earlier in the day during their mission, and the arrival of the second tournament turns Inaba into a second Dark Hour area at the same time. Naoto finds a safer landing location for Labrys' new team to land in Inaba before Inaba completely becomes the second Dark Hour area. She had a brief encounter with a mysterious culprit named Sho Minazuki (or rather his half, Minazuki), until Labrys' team arrives on time to save Naoto, then breaks up to find their missing friends and save the world from a dangerous outcome planned by Sho and General Teddie. [105] Naoto is also the protagonist of Natsuki Mamiya's non-classic Persona X Detective Naoto which focuses on one of their works a year after the events of Persona 4 as they investigate the disappearance of one of their childhood friends in Yagakoro City; in this story, they awaken a new Persona, Amatsu-Mikaboshi (アマツミカボシ). [106] Kawakami played Naoto during the production of the stage. Villain Mitsuo Kubo Voiced by Kyle Hebert[107]Voiced by (Japanese): Takahashi Tsuyoshi[108] Kubo Mitsuo (久保美津夫, Kubo Mitsuo?) is a young man from Inaba, who becomes the second suspect He made a pass at Yukiko Amagi at the beginning of the game, and was denied. [109] He was later revealed to be an isolated student who was expelled from another high school before the start of the game. Eventually, the party finds him in the TV World and saves him from being killed by his Shadow during an argument with Shadow to remain silent. [110] The Shadow has the shape of an un newborn fetus that can build an 8-bit video game warrior as a barrier. Claims he was responsible all murders in Inaba to attract people's attention, Mitsuo is taken away by Due to the fact that the kidnappings did not end after his arrest, the group then came to the conclusion that he was an imitating killer and practically mentally unstable. [113] Later, detective Tohru Adachi was responsible for bringing Kubo to the world of television, as Namatame would stop bringing people in if he believed the killer had been captured. [114] Taro Namatame Voiced by Zach Hanks (game)[115], Matthew Mercer (anime)Voiced by (Japanese): Kōji Haramaki[11][116] Taro Namatame (⽣⽥⽬太郎, Namatame Tarō? Namatame was later revealed to be responsible for bringing people to the TV world, using his family's delivery truck to avoid being noticed by the victims and hiding plasma TVs inside to transport them after taking them down. Upon kidnapping Nanako Dojima, Namatame is watched by Ryotaro Dojima and forced to escape with Nanako to the world of television. Here, the Investigation Team confronts him, when he claims he is saving lives. [118] His shadow then absorbs several other Shadows to become Kunino-Sagiri (クシノサギリ), an adult, angelic figure with a giant peace sign-shaped halo that grows from its head. [119] After Kunino-Sagiri's defeat, Namatame was arrested, but police were unable to build a case due to a lack of evidence. [120] The player can trap Namatame in the television world, where his Shadow will kill him because the police will not put him in jail for seeing him mentally unstable, which will automatically end the game. [121] If Yu convinces his friends to spare him because they need to find out namatame's true motivation. [122] In fact, Namatame found out after Mayumi's death that her appearance on Midnight Channel foresified her murder, and he sought konishi Saki to warn her. After she also dies, Namatame tries to contact the police and Tohru Adachi tricks him into throwing people into the TV to protect them from the killer; after the victims begin to survive the kidnapping, he believes that he really helps them. [123] Like Yu and Adachi, he was granted the right by Izanami to enter the world of television. [124] In the ending of Persona 4 Golden, with Kunino-Sagiri revealed to be a fragment of Izanami, Namatame was cleared of all charges due to lack of evidence and was running for mayor of Inaba, inspired by the work of the protagonists. Her family owns Aiya Chinese Eateries, where she works; this surprised Yosuke, who never knew this even though they were classmates. [211] She was also in charge of delivery, serving as the Investigative Team's dining service in several episodes. A running gag is that she will deliver anywhere and anytime, regardless of the customer's circumstances. This happens for the first time in episode 6, when she gives two nikudon orders to Chie while the four are being chased by Kanji (largely in Yosuke's disbelief). She also appears in any restaurant the group travels to, such as when she works part-time in Tatsumi Port Island and the Amagi Inn. The second drama cd was released through a Blu-ray box set titled Perfect Delivery that featured Aika in her daily rounds. Kanami Mashita Voiced by Rena StroberVoiced by (Japanese): Minako Kotobuki Kanami Mashita (真下かなみ, Mashita Kanami?) is a character who first appeared in Persona 4: Dancing All Night after being mentioned in previous titles. She is an idol who worked with Takura Productions under the name Kanamin, and is a member of the idol group Kanamin Kitchen. In Persona 4, after Rise quit her business, her manager Minoru Inoue assumed the management role of Kanami; however, he left the position after Rise decided to return. She first appears as a playable character in Persona 4: Dancing All Night, working with Ryotaro and Nanako Dojima to find the Investigation Team and missing members of her idol group who have been kidnapped and trapped in the world of the Midnight Stage. She briefly appeared in Persona 4: The Animation and Persona 4: The Golden Animation. Labrys Voiced by Cindy RobinsonVoiced by (Japanese): Ayana Taketatsu[212] Labrys (ラビリス, Rabirisu?) was mentioned in persona 3 Drama CD: Moonlight and was later introduced to her full appearance in Persona 4 Arena as a new character. Labrys was created in 1999 at kirijo Ergonomics laboratory and most of the development She was made through forcing her to fight with other models in her series. [213] She became close to one of her friends #024, but was also forced to destroy her. After disappearing from Mitsuru Kirijo's plane, she appeared in the television world during the events of the P-1 Grand Prix tournament. She appeared in a Yasogami High School uniform, and called herself Miss President. She wields a large two-head ax axe (a labrys) during the battle. In the manga Aigis begins to call her her sister. In the story mode, it is revealed that General Teddie (クマ総統, Kuma-sōtō), the tournament's organizer, is actually Labrys' Shadow in disguise. The player leads Labrys to face himself, representing a desire to live as a normal human being and attend high school. When Labrys rejects another's own wishes, it becomes a Shadow accompanied by a larger Shadow Asterius (アステリシス, Asuteriosu?), like a demon male. After the player defeats Shadow Labrys in battle, Labrys accepts his other itself and it transforms into Fortune Arcana's Ariadne (アリアドネ, Ariadone), a Persona who shares design motifs with Labrys. [214] She then joined Mitsuru's team to find the real culprit behind the P-1 Grand Prix. [215] In video games, she was originally only released as a boss character in arcade versions of P4U. When the game was moved to PlayStation 3, she became a playable character as both herself as usual with her Ariadne and Shadow with Asterius. Labrys as a playable character was finally added to the arcade version of the game on March 22, 2012. [216] In Persona Arena Ultimax, Labrys is the protagonist in Chapter Persona 3. Sho Minazuki Voiced by Todd HaberkornVoiced by (Japanese): Kenichi Suzumura[217][218][219] Sho Minazuki (皆シ翔, Minazuki Shō) is featured in the next season of Persona 4 Arena, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. He wears a Yasogami High School uniform jacket around his waist and holds two katana-like swords, each possessing a trigger guard. He is one of Shuji Ikutsuki's test subjects like the members of Strega. He is Ikutsuki's favorite subject, due to his rapid progress. As part of Ikutsuki's experiment, Sho is isolated from the outside world and never comes into contact with anyone other than Ikutsuki, whom he calls his 'father' and even has the same pun habits. In an experiment to awaken his Persona through the use of plume of Dusk, instead of a Persona, another character called Minazuki, was born. Minazuki's birth led to Sho being abandoned by Ikutsuki after the former tried to kill him in an attempt to protect Sho. He was the culprit behind the kidnapping of Labrys and the P-1 Grand Prix, working alongside a wicked body called Hi-no-Kagutsuchi. Minazuki agrees to gather persona fragments for summons Kagutsuchi enough, in exchange for him destroying the world, believes that it will end Sho's suffering. When Persona Persona gathered and Kagutsuchi is successfully summoned, Kagutsuchi betrays him and possesses Sho's body. After Kagutsuchi's defeat at the hands of Yu and Adachi, Sho cannot feel Minazuki inside him, but is now able to summon his Persona independently. After being defeated by Vu for the last time, he is inspired by the power of Yu's bonds and leaves to begin his own journey, vowing to kill Vu the next time they meet. Sho and Minazuki have two contrasting personalities. Sho is a hot, hot- tempered and anxious young man with vicious streaks, while Minazuki is cold and calculating without caring about the well-being of others except Sho. Sho's past makes him watch bonds and such as nonsense, watching friendships and such as nothing but licking each other's wounds. But it later revealed that he was simply lonely and did not know how to understand people due to his previous isolation. Sho does not own a Persona, although he is still capable of combining a Persona user using nothing but his own physical abilities (in fact superhuman) of Sun Arcana. But Minazuki has a Persona named Tsukiyomi (ツキヨミ) of Moon Arcana, and he also appears as the last boss in the game's arcade mode with a Persona. Zen and Rei Voiced by Keith Silverstein (Zen),[220] Ashly Burch (Rei)[221] Voiced by Kaji Yūki (Zen),[14] Kaori Nazuka (Japanese): Kaori Kauka (Zen) Rei)[14] Zen and Rei are dementia suffered in Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth: they are residents of a mysterious paradise in the shape of Yasogami High (part of the context for Persona 4) , and because the story events do not appear in any other Persona title in relation to members of SEES or the Investigation Team. Zen is a young man unfamiliar with people's habits and tends to take things too literally, but if not for Rei's happiness, while Rei is a cheerful and naïve girl with a strange metabolism that makes her forever hungry. Depending on which protagonist is chosen in the first place, SEES or the Investigation Team will meet with them first. If protagonist Persona 3 is chosen, then Fuuka locates the first maze somewhere near where the group is gathered by receiving the Shadow signal. However, before they can enter, Zen and Rei appear and interrupt them. As they intend to enter a maze that doubles as the Shadows' nesting, the protagonist allows them to join SEES during this time. When they meet with the Investigative Team, SEES decides to try to restore Zen and Rei's memories as this is their only result that leads to an escape from heaven in a rift. Zen was later revealed to be part of Chronos, a man presiding over the death, who sent to bring a young girl named Niko, who died of illness to the place where all life came back. At this stage, Rei is kidnapped and the school's clock tower undergoes a tartarus-esque, tartarus-esque transformation, although Zen initially decides to save her on his own, SEES and the Investigation Team are determined to stay and help him. Zen uses crossbows in battle. With this, he can shoot various objects at enemies, such as arrows or bullets. Unlike the other members of SEES, boths do not have or can use Personas: however, they are capable of fighting the Shadows using a variety of unique combat abilities for them. When Rei was kidnapped, Zen began to use the abilities she had used until then. Hikari Voiced by Misato Fukuen[16] Hikari (ひか⼦) is a character featured in Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth. She is a teenage girl that one day wakes up in the cinema, she is the last person to enter the cinema. At first she is very shy and quiet, and will have trouble talking to anyone other than Nagi, another resident of the theater. Her shyness is due to the drauma and depression of her bad past: she is often bullied and mocked by others for her differences, although due to psychological dementia she is unable to properly remember her past in the game. Unable to cope with the pain of life, she ended up in the cinema in collective unconsciousness in a dream, where she met Nagi, who promesses Hikari to protect her from any harm by ising her isolation from reality. As our heroes change the ending of the film, Hikari slowly begins to unfold and begin communicating with them, and then in the game. After completing her third maze, Hikari follows Doe to one of the films, titled ???, where she faces all the traumas of the past, causing her to fully remember her memories and force her to change her heart, revealing the title of the film named after her Hikari. After facing his past memories with courage and accepting them, Hikari successfully recovered from his depression and acted as a combat support. After finishing the game, Hikari wakes up from her dream, and can now talk to her father again, confessing her desire to continue producing the film she created before she fell into depression. Nagi Voiced by: Inoue Kikuko[16] Nagi (シギ) is a character featured in Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth. The Cinema's curator, Nagi is a woman who protects Hikari from any harm by keeping her in the Cinema, and Hikari thinks she is the only one who can be trusted due to her kind and caring personality. She congratulates our hero every time they clear a maze, even declaring that she doesn't have a choice. However, near the end of the game, she removes her cover and reveals herself as Enlil, an administrator of collective unconsciousness with an delusional and patronic view of humanity, inginking that they have weak intentions and the only way to give them salvation is to trap them inside her cinematic realm, put an end to their thoughts and isolated them from of life, at their expense of freedom and increasing their depression further. After our hero defeats her, she returns to nagi's black-haired shape and disappears into the light, eventually acknowledging humanity's abilities and strengths, but not before leaving a warning that she will return as long as people want her , eventually allowing the group to leave the Cinema. Doe Voiced by Kazuhiko Inoue Doe (ドー) is a character introduced in Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth. He is a strange ball-like character that is mostly quiet, that one day appears in theater, acting as a strange projectionist that can play similar films over and over again. He will create a key that can unlock the cinema exit every time a maze is completed. Hikari is very afraid of him, and has a lot of difficulty communicating or approaching him, although she begins to become less frightened as the game progresses. After Hikari agrees to follow Doe, leading her to ???, she decides to face her own past and so that she can recall her memories of suffering from dementia. Our heroes, thinking that Doe kidnapped Hikari, they fight him in the deepest part of the maze, after he went mad because Hikari rejected him. After they beat him the truth is revealed: Doe is nothing more than a perception of Hikari's father, created by her due to depression and low self-esteem, which begins to make her grow incapable of distinguishing what is really harmful to her and what really isn't. This led her to develop paranoia over her father's believed goodwill that led to the creation of Doe, whom she considered a fearful character she could not even get close to. Recognizing this, Hikari stepped forward and hugged him, as he turned into the image of her father. She shed tears confessing all her negative thoughts to him, and after confessing, he turned into one of the keys and disappeared into light. Reception The characters of Persona 4 have received great positive feedback as a result of the player's interaction with them and the topics discussed. The protagonist's role has been credited for allowing players to build their own along the game while asking questions for themselves. [6] Various comparisons were made regarding social interactions from Persona 3 because the development of social links was relatively faster and more important for the battles of the game. The melody is noted to be sometimes lighter than the previous one as it avoids touching on depressed themes, but at the same time the character's struggle is much more complicated. [222] In addition, the protagonist's relationship with his relatives, with whom he began to live with was reviewed to add more variations to relationships with people focus on family relationships. [75] Furthermore, the inclusion of Shadow versions of playable characters has been praised for themes discussions, leading to personal crises related to which are their true characteristics. [6] Kanji Tatsumi's storyline and his ambiguous sexuality received mixed reactions, with many fans wishing he could be portrayed as unscribingly gay without ambiguity. [61] Naoto Shirogane's storyline also received mixed reactions, with some fans questioning how parts of Naoto's story reflecting the transgender experience were dismissed and contradicted by the classic insistence that Naoto be a cisgender girl. [225] The character designs used in the game are noted to be solid with the intelligent use of animation for battles. [226] The performances of English voice actors have been noted as overall good with notes on the quality and distribution of lines. [227] However, flaws were found in making certain lines with IGN noting a few moments in which some actors did not match their respective characters. [228] The document ^ a b c d e f Fitch, Andrew.
