We believe OMSI has a unique and important role to fill in building digital resources for our community and modeling inclusive, engaging and accessible science learning. This year your investment in the engaing science education OMSI provides is especially critical; Because the pandemic has further exposed and amplified inequities and the growing opportunity gaps in our state, we must address barriers and expand access to high-quality STEAM education experiences to build a more accessible and inclusive OMSI for all. In the midst of this ongoing crisis, OMSI continues to deliver fun, educational content to meet the needs of the community. We have reformatted in-person programs into new web-based activities, live-streamed OMSI science assembly programs, educational videos, and developed social media content to help keep students socially connected and engaged with science education. We continue to add virtual programming to support established partners and to reach rural schools across Oregon and beyond. Your generous investment helps ensure OMSI programming is free or at reduced rates for families in need. Expanding access and opportunity will support a more resilient and equitable education system to change long-term outcomes for all Oregonians. As an independent non-profit, OMSI does not receive public funding. We instead rely on support from individuals, corporations, and foundations to create rich learning experiences for children and families. Participating as a sponsor for this event is a great way to support OMSI’s pioneering work while being recognized for your investment in the community and encouraging others to support through your example of leadership. For companies, sponsorship of the OMSI Gala provides a targeted opportunity to focus your public relations and marketing initiatives through 2,000,000 impressions. Weeks prior to the Gala, you will begin receiving repeated exposure through media coverage, our website, the Gala program, and social media, to ensure maximum visibility well beyond the day’s event. OMSI Brand Awareness and Reach OMSI is a highly-respected organization and valuable educational partner throughout the region. In a 2017 study by DHM Research, OMSI received the highest brand favorability ratings of any organization in our region (including Oregon Public Broadcasting (OPB), Fred Meyer, Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), Providence Health, and Walmart) with 92% of the public rating OMSI as “very favorable” or “somewhat favorable.” In a recent survey of incoming freshman majoring in engineering, computer science, and materials science in the Oregon University system, students cited OMSI as one of the top “brand names” that influenced their choice of major. Social media provides us with a compelling and easily accessible two-way platform to engage with our audiences. We use these platforms to disseminate information about and promote upcoming events/exhibits, and to inform the public about projects and partnerships.
