The combined work of our membership – Michigan’s angel and venture community – and a statewide commitment to nurture economic activity at the entrepreneurial and growth stages is an important part of Michigan’s economic come-back story. Michigan boasts one of the most collaborative entrepreneurial support networks in the country, with a rich variety of funding sources and professional resources. There are currently 129 venture-backed companies in Michigan – a 70% increase over five years ago. Angel investment has also increased by over 200% during that same time and together, venture firms and angels are responsible for backing 97% of all startup companies in Michigan in the last year. In the profiles that follow, you’ll find a brief introduction to key investors fueling Michigan’s fastest growing companies and the dense network of local resources that support the entrepreneurial community.
