ACCREDITATION SPECIAL CONSULTATIVE STATUS WITH THE UNITED NATION’S ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL COUNCIL (ECOSOC) IN 2011 ABOUT SES rom Ancient times, teachers and students have shared special bonds. There was a time when students’ upbringing was done under guidance of guruji. In 1985, teachers and students (of Shivpati Post Graduate College) once again came together. This time for a social cause. Local act of safe drinking water gave birth to Shohratgarh Environmental Society (SES). It was started as a voluntary organization but passion & hard work of their founders gave it recognition. SES has been registered as society under Society Registration XXI (1860).In all those years SES has worked at root level in F villages. While working our workers have developed rapport with general communities, people of villages & others. They call the organization “Paryavaran Samiti” (Environmental Society) Calling it paravaran samiti by people shows its universal appeal & acceptance of common people. Though by name it looks that our organization works only for area concern with environmental issues but that is not true. As an organization SES knows its responsibility towards society & worked in different arena of social sector. It is sustainable SES AREA OF OPERATION agriculture, health, disaster management, livelihood, education, empowerment of women. SES helped people to raise their voice in form of advocacy. In last 24 years, Karmbhoomi (Operational area) of society is Uttar Pradesh. As a democratic organization, SES has always emphasized on approach of people participation whether it was issue of women empowerment or livelihood. There were people who fall under poor, deprived & marginalized section of society. SES has undertaken development initiatives and help those people to come out of poverty, earn their livelihood. Yet, there are lot of BPL people & people who earn less than $1 daily. Without being complacent, we as SES, are determined to improve standard of life of such people. Once identified as member of BIMARU state, Uttar Pradesh is still one of the poorest states of India. District Siddharthnagar (where SES has registered office) is one of the poorest parts of Uttar Pradesh. Agriculture is main source of employment & income. Statistics of government show that agriculture contribution in GDP has reduced significantly. Due to which, majority of farmers pushed in small & marginal category which also affect their standard of life, health & education too. It is one of the reason that SES is working in area with people of those areas. It is said that actions are mightier than words. Activities, efforts of SES have given it the golden opportunity to work with Ministry of Environment & Forests, Government of India. It has been appointed as Regional Resource Agency of Uttar Pradesh for their programme NEAC (National Environment Awareness Campaign). In year 2000, SES has got good category as RRA. Under NEAC programme, we are covering 28 districts. SES is fortunate that it is working with hundreds of NGO under this programme. HOPE (HELPING ORPHANS BY PROVIDING EDUCATION & EMPOWERMENT) is initiated by Shohratgarh Environmental Society [SES]. The focus of programme is on empowering orphan by providing education with support of community worldwide. Please help those children. For more details, visit http://sesindia.org . P.), India Accepted: 24-04-2020 Sadguru Prakash Department of Zoology Sadguru Prakash M.L.K. (P.G.) College, Balrampur (U.P.), India Abstract An attempt was made to study the conservation status of the fishes naturally occurring in Semara taal, near Shohratgarh of Siddharthnagar district of Uttar Pradesh. The study was conducted during Jan. to Dec. 2018. During exploration, a total of 29 species of fishes belonging to 20 genera, 15 families and 8 orders were identified. As per latest version of IUCN Red List, out of 29 species of fishes identified, 1 species comes under EN (endangered), 3 species come under NT (near threatened), 19 under LC (least concern) and 6 species are NE (not evaluated) so far. Keywords: Pisces, Fish species, Red list, Conservation status, Semara taal. Introduction Fishes are not only source of low-fat, high-quality proteinous food for human being but also a good source of omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin D, vitamin B2, calcium, phosphorus, iodine, iron, zinc, magnesium and potassium. The fish diversity is subjected to the changes in land and water resulting into substantial losses of fishes and remaining species may be at a risk. Fish species inhabiting in lentic fresh water bodies have to live under harsher and more variable conditions and they may put to extra ordinary stress because of human interventions.

Base Line Survey of Farmers In Siddharthnagar District By 1 A Chinese monk wrote “When Gautam Budhha visited Kapilvastu for the first time after attaining enlightenment; he gifted Kala Namak to the local people as “Prasad”. He asked them to sow it in marshy land, it is due to this reason this rice is also called as “Buddha’s Gift”. This rice was also found in the kitchen store of a house in UP in one of the excavation. 2 Survey in Village-Teknar-Babun Tiwari Focused Group Discussion in Village-Ramwapur Nankar Focused Group Discussion in Pakdi Village 3 1. Naugarh The district is known for the ruins of the Shakya Janapada, at Piprahwa which is 22 km away from the district headquarters Naugarh. The district was named after Prince Siddhartha, the pre-enlightenment name of Buddha, as he spent his early years (till the age of 29 years) in Kapilavastu, parts of which included territory in this district. HOPE AN EFFORT BY SHOHRATGARH ENVIRONMENTAL SOCIETY [SES] HOPE- AN EFFORT BY SHOHRATGARH ENVIRONMENTAL SOCIETY Page 1 HOPE (HELPING ORPHANS BY PROVIDING EDUCATION & EMPOWERMENT) PROGRAMME is a fundraising programme. It is initiated by Shohratgarh Environmental Society [SES]. The focus of programme is on empowering orphan by providing education with support of community worldwide. BACKGROUND Think of a life, where you do not have parents or family. You do not have any shelter or home to live and any source of livelihood. Certainly, you don’t want such bizarre situation at any point of your lives. The number of orphans in India stands at approx. 47 percent out of a total of about 55 millions children of ages 0-12 years, and an overall population of 150 millions. Today, orphans remain a burden of extended families although most of these are living from hand to mouth, in a situation like that; these families who can hardly take care of their own children naturally find it almost impossible to take in an extra child. Such a school named – Brahmrishi Bawra Siddharth Vidyapeeth is established by Sri Chandresh Shastri in Uska bazaar block of district Siddharthnagar (Uttar Pradesh). Siddharthnagar is one of the backward district of India .Most of people are dependent on agriculture or unskillful work. They have no choices in life. People who are educated and can think about what is right and what is wrong will obey the rules and be of benefit to society. people who are poor and have no education have no choices, no discrimination between what is right and what is wrong, they don’t know how to take care of themselves or their family; they can become thieves, criminals- a problem to society.

Rural society is relatively much influenced by religion. Religious ethos plays a significant role in determining the social conditioning of human beings. The paper draws attention towards the educational trends among rural Muslims in the State of Uttar Pradesh in India. The paper is empirically rich where it explains the demographic profile of sample villages of Siddharthnagar district. Five villages of five sub-divisions have been studied and an interpretative understanding has been attempted of Maktab (Muslim religious educational institutions) at the village level. It brings to light the educational behaviour of rural Muslims. The paper briefly aims to arrive at two points. First, parents realize the importance of modern education which is the need of the day, but at the same time they are not ready to leave their religious education. Rural Muslim population is inclined to adopt the curriculum which is the combination of both modern and traditional elements. Muslim religious educational institutions that have introduced modern subjects have attracted larger chunk of students although government schools have offered several incentives in various forms. Keywords: Educational behaviour, Muslims, Rural India, Religion Introduction Religion has been identified as important component of human societies from the very beginning. Instances, to explain certain unexplainable situations and experiences of everyday life through religion, have been noticed in both primitive and civilized societies.
