At just 23 years of age, Cadee is considered one of Australian bas- ketball’s outstanding prospects and has been earmarked by many judges for future selection in the national program. He has played four seasons in the NBL, with his first two at the Gold Coast Blaze before moving to Adelaide in 2012, where he represented the 36ers with distinction, averaging 6.1ppg as Adelaide’s primary backup guard and helping them to a Grand Final appearance in the 2013/14 campaign. Jason’s speed, court vision and ability to hit the outside shot are all prized commodities and MightyMite Sydney Kings Head Coach Damian Cotter is excited to have him suit up in purple and gold for the next two seasons. “I’m really excited that Jason wants to be a King and I’m looking forward to coaching him,” Coach Cotter said. “I’ve known Jay since we worked together in the Emus during the 2008/09 campaign and I have respect for his bas- ketball intellect and ability. His skill-set will give our guard rotation both flexibility and depth.” “I feel that our style of play will utilize Jason’s strengths and if he works hard I feel that he will really develop in our system.” The Cadee name is synonymous with basketball in this country. Both Jason’s parents, Robbie and Debbie, have represented Australia – in fact Robbie is one of the most deco- rated men in the history of the game in this country, having won an NBL title as a player with St Kilda in 1979 and being named NBL Coach of the Year in 1983 as the sideline leader of the Bankstown Bruins. MightyMite Sydney Kings General Manager Rod Harys said that being able to sign a member of one of the First Families of basketball in Sydney was very important to the club. “Since the Sydney Kings returned in 2010, one of the club’s stated goals has been to ensure that the team has a solid representation of players who grew up in Sydney,” Mr Harys commented. “We are thrilled to add a Sydney-born player of Jason’s calibre to the squad and I know he will quickly become a fan favourite at the Kingdome.” Cadee, who is currently tearing up the New Zealand competition for the Super City Rangers and is coming off a spectacular 36 point performance last Friday night, relayed his excitement about playing for the team he grew up supporting. "I am excited about coming home to Sydney to play for the Kings,” Jason said. “I grew up watching the NBL in Sydney and look forward to joining Damian and the team when I get back from my time in the New Zealand NBL.” Jason will return to Sydney and begin offseason training with the team at the conclusion of the NZNBL season. Mudgee Basketball Association’s 50th Anniversary The Mudgee basketball Association will celebrate its 50th Anniversary celebrations over the weekend of the 13th, 14th & 15th February 2015. A meet and greet will be held on Friday night followed by a dinner on Saturday night. All players and Committee member who were, or are still involved with the Associa- tion since 1965, are invited to attend. All teams that competed from the first games in 1965 through to 2014 are urged to contact former team mates and get together for the weekends activities.
