Highclere Hills N Gibson & M N Lyons Science Division, Department of Conservation and Land Management, Wildlife Research Center, PO Box 51 Wanneroo, WA 6065 email: [email protected] [email protected] (Manuscript received July 2000; accepted November 2001) Abstract A study of the flora and plant communities of the Highclere Hills (which lie some 25 km NNW of Bullfinch) recorded 242 taxa in the spring of 1996. Of these, 217 taxa were native and 25 were weeds. The flora list includes Acacia xerophila var brevior, Stenanthemum newbeyi and Tricoryne tuberosa ms, which represent significant range extensions for these taxa. No endemic taxa were found on the Highclere Hills. Five community types were defined from 45 quadrats spread across the Hills. The distribution of these community types appears to be primarily related to edaphic factors that were largely independent of topographic position. None of the five community types is known from conservation reserves. The vegetation patterning of the Highclere Hills is not as complex as that found on nearby ranges due to a more subdued topography. There has been widespread impact on the vegetation of the Highclere Hills by mineral exploration and mining and there is an urgent need to improve environmental management of mineral exploration activities. Our ref: EEN18041.003 Level 2, 27-31 Troode Street West Perth WA 6005 T +61 8 9211 1111 Date: 04 June 2019 Tanya McColgan Bellevue Gold Limited Suite 3, Level 3, 24 Outram Street WEST PERTH WA 6008 Dear Tanya, Flora and vegetation values identified within PoW 79431 In response to your request for the preliminary results of the detailed flora and vegetation assessment undertaken over the Bellevue Gold Project area, RPS Australia West Pty Ltd (RPS) herein provides a summary of the key results and outcomes of the assessment in lieu of the final report which is due in July. Background Bellevue Gold Ltd (Bellevue Gold) is currently undertaking an exploration drilling program within mining tenement M3625 for the Bellevue Gold Project (the Project). The Project is located in the north-eastern Goldfields; approximately 40 km north of the township of Leinster in the Shire of Leonora. The Project is situated on and surrounded by pastoral lands and is located on Yakabindie cattle station. RPS was commissioned by Bellevue Gold to undertake a detailed flora and vegetation assessment over M3625 and part of M3624 to encompass the area where exploration drilling is currently underway and including the potential mining and associated infrastructure footprint (the proposed development area). The survey area, the proposed development area and the PoW 79431 area are shown in Figure A. RPS understands that the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) and the Department of Biodiversity Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) have requested additional information regarding the natural values of the PoW area, where in-fill drilling is proposed, in order to adequately assess the PoW application. -

Yeelirrie Uranium Project Public Environmental Review Section Nine: Environmental Factors from one or more localities but do not meet adequacy of survey requirements and appear to be under immediate threat from known threatening processes. Priority Two: Poorly-known taxa. Taxa that are known from one or a few collections or sight records, some of which are on lands not under imminent threat of habitat destruction or degradation (e.g. national parks, conservation parks, nature reserves, State forest, vacant Crown land, water reserves, etc.). Taxa may be included if they are comparatively well known from one or more localities but do not meet adequacy of survey requirements and appear to be under threat from known threatening processes. Priority Three: Poorly-known taxa. Taxa that are known from collections or sight records from several localities not under imminent threat, or from few but widespread localities with either large population size or significant remaining areas of apparently suitable habitat, much of it not under imminent threat. Taxa may be included if they are comparatively well known from several localities but do not meet adequacy of survey requirements and known threatening processes exist that could affect them. Priority Four: Rare, Near Threatened and other taxa in need of monitoring. (a) Rare: Taxa that are considered to have been adequately surveyed, or for which sufficient knowledge is available, and that are considered not currently threatened or in need of special protection, but could be if present circumstances change. VANAGS Abstract: The Australian genera of the Scutelleridae are redescribed, with a species exemplar of the ma- le genitalia of each genus illustrated. Scanning electron micrographs are also provided for key non-ge- nitalic characters. The Australian jewel bug fauna comprises 13 genera and 25 species. Heissiphara is described as a new genus, for a single species, H. minuta nov.sp., from Western Australia. Calliscyta is restored as a valid genus, and removed from synonymy with Choerocoris. All the Australian species of Scutelleridae are described, and an identification key is given. Two new species of Choerocoris are des- cribed from eastern Australia: C. grossi nov.sp. and C. lattini nov.sp. Lampromicra aerea (DISTANT) is res- tored as a valid species, and removed from synonymy with L. senator (FABRICIUS). Calliphara nobilis (LIN- NAEUS) is recorded from Australia for the first time. Calliphara billardierii (FABRICIUS) and C. praslinia praslinia BREDDIN are removed from the Australian biota. The identity of Sphaerocoris subnotatus WAL- KER is unknown and is incertae sedis. A description is also given for the Neotropical species, Agonoso- ma trilineatum (FABRICIUS); a biological control agent recently introduced into Australia to control the pasture weed Bellyache Bush (Jatropha gossypifolia, Euphorbiaceae). Coleotichus borealis DISTANT and C. (Epicoleotichus) schultzei TAUEBER are synonymised with C. excellens (WALKER). Callidea erythrina WAL- KER is synonymized with Lampromicra senator. Lectotype designations are given for the following taxa: Coleotichus testaceus WALKER, Coleotichus excellens, Sphaerocoris circuliferus (WALKER), Callidea aureocinc- ta WALKER, Callidea collaris WALKER and Callidea curtula WALKER.
