Bloomsburg Win Five Titles at Brute Invitational Huskies Sweep Honors on Nov. 26. The Huskies won five individual titles at the Brute Invitational on Dec. Justin Grant 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials Qualifier Heavyweight Justin Grant qualified for the 2012 United States Olympics Wrestling Trials. Grant finished second in his freestyle weight class at the U.S. Olympic Qualifying Trial in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Grant reached the final at 120 kg/264.5 pounds, falling to former Division III national cham- pion John Helgerson of Wartburg College 2-1, 1-2, 1-0.

Grant Pins Way to PSAC Title Justin Grant won two of three matches by fall on his way to the PSAC title. Grant opened his day with a pin in just 20 seconds over his opponent from Millersville, then ended the tourney with a pin in 3:22 over his Kutztown opponent.

Perry With Four Wins to Capture Title Richard Perry won four matches to capture his first PSAC title. Perry won his first two bouts by fall, then scored two decisions to win the champi- onship.

Smith Wins First Title Chris Smith, who saw time last year at 165 pounds, moved to 174 pounds this season and won his first-ever title for the Huskies taking the 174 pound PSAC championship.

Scouting Maryland Maryland, 6-3 in dual competition, is coming off a 20th-place team finish at the Midlands Tournament for head coach Kerry McCoy with junior Jimmy Sheptock finishing fifth at 184-pounds. In addition, the Terps had five wrestlers place at the 80th annual Wilkes Open led by individual championships for 285-pound Spencer Myers and 125-pound Paul O’Neill.

Maryland also competed at the Grapple at the Garden in mid-December losing to Ohio State, 34-3, and beating Nebraska, 18-17.

The Terps have four wrestlers ranked in this week’s Intermat rankings led by sixth-ranked Josh Asper and seventh-ranked Jimmy Sheptock. Back on Dec. 18 Sheptock was named the ACC Wrestler of the Week after he won two matches in the Grapple at the Garden, including a 6-4 sudden victory over then-sixth ranked Josh Ihnen of Nebraska to key a Maryland comeback against the 17th-ranked Huskers.
