Since Arkansas State hired him as the school's new basketball coach six weeks ago, John Brady -- yes, that John Brady -- has been determined to put his self-de- scribed "stamp" on the program. After meet- ing with each returning member of the team, THE Brady sought out the trainer and the aca- demic advisers and the sports information officials and the facility management crew. He even sat down with the head of the dance BRADY squad. In short, Brady approached every in- dividual who had anything -- however pe- ripheral -- to do with the basketball team. In his spare time, he signed two recruits, re- structured the booster club, changed the FILE team uniform and commissioned renova- tions of the weight room and coaches' of- fices. He explained his rationale: Players and recruits want to see change, they want to see improvement.
