Das Usedomer Musikfestival 2021 wird gefördert durch Mittel der Bundes- regierung, der Landesregierung Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, des Landkreises Vorpommern-Greifswald, der Ämter Usedom-Nord und Usedom-Süd, der Stadt Świnoujście, der Gemeinden der Insel Usedom sowie durch zahlreiche Liebes Sponsoren und Förderer: Festivalpublikum, „Litauen, mein Vaterland! Wie die Gesundheit bist du! Wer dich noch nie ver- loren, der hat dich nie gekannt!”. Der polnische Dichter Adam Mickiewicz, den die Litauer Adomas Mickevičius nennen, eröffnet damit sein Epos „Pan Finanzgruppe Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Tadeusz”. Ist es nicht eine seltsame Fügung, dass wir beim Usedomer Mu- sikfestival Litauen ins Zentrum stellen, nachdem wir uns alle so angespannt um unsere Gesundheit sorgen mussten? „Wer dich noch nie verloren, der hat dich nie gekannt!” – nachdenklich, aber mit Zuversicht wollen wir aufbrechen in eine neue Normalität des Festivallebens. Ihr überwältigender Zuspruch im vergangenen Jahr gibt uns Mut dafür. In Litauen lebten seit alters her Litauer zusammen mit Polen, Deutschen, Juden und Weißrussen. Mit Filmen von Vol- ker Koepp und einer Lesung von Corinna Harfouch werden wir diese Geschich- te wachrufen. Die Volkslieder Litauens sind Weltkulturerbe der Unesco; sie leben weiter in jungen Spitzenkünstlern wie dem Akkordeonisten Martynas Levickis und dem Pianisten Lukas Geniušas. Der Cellist und Dirigent David Geringas ist litauischer Kulturpatriot und Weltbürger zugleich. Er wird die Musik seines Landes auf Usedom, zwischen Wald und Meer, Schloss und Seebad, ebenso feiern, wie der Gewandhausorganist Michael Schönheit und der neue litauische Weltstar der Opernbühne: Aušrine Stundytė. Auch das NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester und unser Baltic Sea Philharmonic kommen wieder nach Peenemünde. Sie sind eingeladen, dabei zu sein! LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN (1770-1827) Beethoven's Opus 18 consists of six string quartets that were written mostly in 1799, though they were not published until 1801. This was a successful and contented period for the young composer, who was not yet troubled by any signs of his impending tragic deafness and was achieving a respected reputation as a pianist and composer in musical and aristocratic circles in Vienna. A composer writing in this medium at that time could not fail to have been constantly aware of the great masterpieces of eighteenth-century quartet literature that had been produced by Mozart and Haydn. -

Neil Thomson — Biografia Neil Thomson é um dos mais respeitados e versáteis maestros britânicos de sua geração. Nascido em 1966, estudou com Norman Del Mar na Royal College of Music em Londres e mais tarde em Tanglewood, com Leonard Bernstein e Kurt Sanderling. O maestro assume em 2014 a regência titular e direção artística da Orquestra Filarmônica de Goiás. Ele já gravou com a Orquestra Sinfônica de Londres, Orquestra Filarmônica Real de Liverpool e trabalhou nos concertos da Orquestra Filarmônica de Londres, da Philharmonia, da Orquestra Filarmônica da BBC, da Royal Scottish National Orchestra, da Hallé, da Orquestra Filarmônica Real, da Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, da Orquestra do Teatro Massimo em Palermo, Orquestra Sinfônica de Yucatan no México, Romanian Radio Chamber Orchestra e a RTE Concert Orchestra. Em maio de 2005, o maestro foi convidado para reger o concerto em homenagem ao cinquentenário da morte de George Enescu com a Orquestra Nacional da Romênia e os solistas David Geringas e Carmen Oprisanu. Lim received his fonnal. training at Indiana University, where he studied with the legendary violinist ~d teacher Josef Gingold. While at Indiana, he won First Prize in the school's Violin Concerto Competition and served on the faculty as a Visiting Lecturer. Lim later studied cham~ ber music at the Juilliard School and taught there as an assistant to the Juilliard String Quartet. No PI CI"(.. MOZART Violin Concertos Nos. 3, 4 and 5 Henning Kraggerud, Violin Norwegian Chamber Orchestra Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) Norwegian Chamber Orchestra Violin Concertos Nos. 3, 4 and 5 Photo: Mona Ødegaard Since its formation in 1977 the Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in Salzburg in 1756, describe as a disgrace to his profession, coarse and dirty. Norwegian Chamber Orchestra has the son of a court musician who, in the year of his Brunetti, a Neapolitan by birth, had been appointed secured a reputation for itself for its youngest child’s birth, published an influential book on Hofmusikdirektor and Hofkonzertmeister in Salzburg in innovative programming and violin-playing. A brilliant pianist of the Russian old school who plays with fiery intensity and profound insight, she is also a musical evangelist who has taken classical music to millions through her online videos. Having posted her first video on YouTube in 2007, viewing figures soon exploded and more videos followed. The foundations of a social media-driven career unparalleled in the history of classical music were laid. Her YouTube channel now boasts more than 516,000 subscribers and over 200 million views. No wonder she’s in demand right across the world: her unprecedented global stardom is matched by her breath-taking playing. Lisitsa has long adored the romance and power of Rachmaninov and following her electrifying performance of his Third Piano Concerto at the Usher Hall in 2018, she makes a welcome return with the passionate Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini. Niccolò Paganini’s famous piece has been adored and interpreted by many a composer, including Brahms, but it’s Rachmaninov’s take on the classic that sees it as its tenderest, and wittiest. He moulds the main theme into musical styles and interpretations previously unheard, and there is no finer pianist to bring this to the Usher Hall than Valentina Lisitsa. -
