A few words of explanation are called for regarding the following identifications.
Under the Costa Rica issue, I have listed #619b as Sotalia fluviatilis, whereas the stamp is labelled Sotalia guianensis. My references note that there is some discussion as to splitting the Tucuxi into 2 species with S. fluviatilis becoming the inland river species and S. guianensis being the coastal species. At present however, I do not have confirmation that this has been accepted and for the time being the stamp is listed as S. fluviatilis.
Under the Marshall Islands wild cats issue, I have listed #907j Neofelis nebulosa as Indochinese Clouded Leopard. This is because the Clouded Leopard has now been split into 2 species with the populations on Borneo and Sumatra being raised to species level as Neofelis diardi, Diardi's Clouded Leopard. I have yet to establish whether any previous stamps issued as Neofelis nebulosa actually depict the new species.
There are 3 new species on stamps included in the following listing, all of them on an issue from Malaysia.
