O R G December 2020 Dear Benefactors and Friends of SOAR!, It is my privilege to present a financial summary of the work of SOAR! for the July 1, 2019-June 30, 2020 fiscal year. This statement of accountability shows the financial viability of this organization. The administration of SOAR! seeks to be responsible, accountable and transparent in our financial activities. In a year full of challenges that none of us could have anticipated, and thanks to its generous benefactors, SOAR! helped ensure the safety and dignity of thousands of aging women and men religious across the country. This includes initiating the COVID-19 Rapid Response Grant Program, which quickly provided funds to address the needs of those suffering from the virus, their caretakers, and aging religious impacted by social isolation. These funds were distributed in June and July of this year. Thanks to your support of these rapid response grants, communities were able to purchase PPE, sanitation supplies, and medical equipment; fund staffing costs; and make up revenue losses due to the ministry closures. The grants also supported technology updates to keep aging Sisters, Brothers, and Priests connected to their communities, families, and ministries. In meeting the immediate needs of aging religious, the SOAR! board of directors also approved a second grant cycle at its September meeting. Two grant cycles each year, in the spring and fall, will provide more flexibility to religious congregations and allow SOAR! to thoughtfully respond to the needs of aging religious as they arise. May God bless you for your generous care and concern for aging Sisters, Brothers and Priests. In gratitude, Sister Kathleen Lunsmann, IHM SOAR!
