Well, whatever, what I'm trying to say is, you are now all officially members of the Avengers. This was an unfortunate melding of two universes for no reason. Added to that is that all the team drama is from things that happened in other books. Justice League Of America should be a premier book and this run hasn't been. McDuffie blames the quality of the stories and his removal from the title on DC editorial, but I think at much of the problem is that McDuffie has not learned how to write for today's market. He writes fine for a one-two issues, but today's market calls for a writer who can string together enough over issues to make it worthwhile for the publisher to collect in a trade paperback. At this point it is pretty well know the difficulties that McDuffie had on his Justice League run, but I thought this was by far the best collection. I enjoyed meeting the Milestone Heroes the only one I do know is Static, who does not appear here , and I thought that the interactions with the League were entertaining esp. Hardware was probably the MVP here just for being such a smartass about everything. I did like explaining the overlapping of the universes as well as tying the story into final . I just feel that the dc's introduction of thee characters would yield more character moments. I have always enjoyed the JLA, in all it's various incarnations through the decades. This new modern JLA is a very enjoyable read. I do think some of the stories were carried by the clever puns more than the plot though. The JLA starts to fall apart and an old enemy takes advantage. It feels quite patchwork, character moments good, plot holely and not that great. Shame really. The entire time that I was reading this book, I was thinking that I had already read this exact same story 15 years ago. How lazy can you get? The original plan was to do the DTV and Season Three concurrently but, long story short: we would have been stretched way too thin. JLU is a difficult enough show to do by itself, without having to prep a feature-length movie at the same time. Home Video is still interested in making it, apparently, so hopefully it'll happen. Another fun fact: Worlds Collide , the currently still-on-hold Justice League DTV, featured the Justice League versus you guessed it the Crime Syndicate obviously, we like alternative universe stories, too. Ably assisted on art by Ed Benes and Rags Morales, he did a good job of this, and this team-vs-team, team-with-team collection suffers only from 1 a break in the issue sequence while some other DC event was going on the book collects JLA , , 2 the only partly-on-screen conflict between Black Canary as Dwayne McDuffie did is darnedest here in to integrate his Milestone characters into the mainstream DCU, bringing in his characters to square off against the JLA. I really appreciate that this book has some of my favorite heroes in it but I was disappointed that it did not focus on the league more than it did, although it did focus on some of the issues they had when Black Canary had taken the role of leader of the league and tried to do what had to be done even though she was at odds with everyone and everything else. According to Timm in an interview with CBR. DC Comics wanted to adapt the script into a comic book during a long time, but finally abandoned the idea. I don't wanna say anymore about it, just in case it ever does get made there's still a chance, albeit a slim one at the moment, seemingly. Dwayne McDuffie and I came up with the story, Dwayne wrote a terrific script, I designed loads of new characters, we started story-boarding, Andrea Romano had assembled a killer cast, and we were just getting ready to record it, and then Home Video slammed on the brakes, and it was put on the shelf for the time being. So this is when two worlds collide. Yes, I don't blame Dwayne for too much at fault here. A lot of shit was happening at the same time world wide in the universe such as Final Crisis and Fall and Rise storyline. So it's not all on him but man oh man he could have made the villains or evil doers more So the Shadowking dude comes in, and Dr. Light is there to face off, with the other leaguers and honestly every iss Moments of fun spread between a lot of dull, uninspiring storylines. An hour later, all the members of the Avengers, minus Hulk who cared little about everything that was going on, where witnessing the display of teamwork and power of the Justice League, Superman was a great leader, he commanded Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and the without hearing a complaint from them.
