APRIL 7-9, 2017 GPLB.COM 1 2 TOYOTA GRAND PRIX OF LONG BEACH Dear Members of the Media: Welcome to the Roar by the Shore…the 43rd Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. We've designed this media guide to assist you throughout the weekend, whether it be to reference historical data, information on this year's event or information and statistics on our six weekend races. It also includes a section on transportation, hotels and restaurants to make your stay in Long Beach more efficient and enjoyable. Our three-day weekend is packed with activities on and off the track. In addition to the racing, two concerts will take place: on Friday night at 6:45 p.m., the Tecate Light Fiesta Friday concert will feature popular Mexican rock band "Moderatto," while on Saturday night, "SMG Presents Kings of Chaos Starring Billy Idol, Billy Gibbons and Chester Bennington" will entertain the Grand Prix crowd at the Rock-N-Roar Concert. The Lifestyle Expo, located in the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center, will see more than 180,000 Grand Prix fans walk through multiple times. Our annual media luncheon takes place on Thursday, April 6, and will feature drivers from many of the racing series that will be here over the weekend. Mclaren Will Be Featured Marque for 2011

(June 6, 2010) – At the conclusion of an epic first-annual Sonoma Historic Motorsports Festival , organizer General Racing, Ltd . announced that McLaren will be the event’s featured marque for the event’s second edition in 2011. The legendary name has graced the halls of motorsports since its famed founder Bruce McLaren of New Zealand founded the McLaren racing team in 1963. “McLaren, like Ferrari and Porsche and other great names in motorsports, created the bloodlines that we worship today in historic automobile racing,” said General Racing’s President Steve Earle, who for four decades has devoted his life to organizing historic car racing events and is the originator of the Wine Country Classic that preceded the Sonoma Historic Motorsports Festival for 24 years. “Choosing McLaren as our marque means we will pay special tribute to the name, the teams, and the cars that McLaren has produced in the past and will produce in the future, adding another dimension of enjoyment for both competitors and spectators.” The 2010 Sonoma Historic Motorsports Festival, held at Infineon Raceway June 5-6, hosted 375 historic race cars, some dating as far back as 1915, in a series of “time capsule” races over the weekend of June 5-6. “These beautiful machines on the track combined with the Sonoma wine country experience makes our historic car weekend unlike anything else on our schedule,” said Infineon Raceway President and General Manager Steve Page. -
Interlagos. More Than 70 Years of History
INTERLAGOS. MORE THAN 70 YEARS OF HISTORY It was an Englishman, Louis S. Sanson, who designed and developed the Interlagos circuit, which opened its gates in 1940. The area was sparsely populated at the time, close to the two great water reservoirs of the city (hence the name, ‘between the lakes’) and the plans were quite ambitious including a hotel and a spa. Only the circuit was built but, of course, not in its present configuration. On May 12 1940, the track was inaugurated with 7.900 meters by then. With nearly 15,000 spectators watching, Arthur Nascimento Jr. won the race driving an Alfa Romeo. Our very beloved Chico Landi arrived in second place driving a Maserati. He kept racing at the circuit until his retirement in 1974. The first international race was held in 1947 and the winner, the Italian Achille Varzi also drove an Alfa Romeo, Chico Landi arrived in second place in his Maserati. Thirty-two years after the first race, on March 30, 1972, fifty thousand spectators saw Carlos Reutemann win the first modern Formula 1 race at the Interlagos circuit in Bernie Ecclestone’s Brabham. In the next year, Brazil definitely joined the selected group of countries on the calendar of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship. Many people think that Interlagos made it possible for motorsport to develop in the country offering a world class circuit for the various new categories that needed a home. In 1980, the Brazilian Grand Prix moved to Rio de Janeiro seeking better conditions and there were rumors that Interlagos would be turned into a housing project. -

Lola T70 Mk3B Chassis Number: SL163-18A • Initially built in the USA from an original Lola T163 monocoque which had been campaigned with success in period by Peter Revson. • Bought by the current owners and shipped to England, the Lola has since been rebuilt with a new R&J Simpson Engineering Lola T70 Mk3B monocoque with the original T163 monocoque retained and included in the sale. • Fitted with a new Peter Knight 5.0 litre Chevrolet V8 engine, and Hewland LG500 gearbox rebuilt by Racing Transmissions. • The subject of crack testing in December 2018 to comply with FIA requirements, 2019 Advanced Fuel Systems fuel bag tanks and with new FIA HTPs. Accompanied by two spare sets of wheels, new nose, new tail and nose box. • Eligible for the FIA Masters Historic Sports Car Championship, Peter Auto’s CER 1 and HSCC Thundersports. Established in 1958, Lola cars had an influential impact on the motor racing world from the minute they burst onto the scene with the stunning Lola Mk1. The company remained at the forefront of racing car design and construction for over half a century and enjoyed remarkable success with single-seaters as well as in Sports and GT racing. Lola was founded and masterminded by one of most renowned and regarded British race car designers, Eric Broadley. Trained as an architect in the late 1940s and like so many of his compatriots, he started out building and racing his own creations. Spurred on by the success of the Broadley Special he turned his attention to a new, more sophisticated venture. -

The Orange Times Bruce McLaren Trust February / March 2015, Issue #6 Bruce McLaren Retirement Village – Grand Opening As mentioned in our first issue, the trust is very proud to be associated with Ryman Healthcare’s newest Retirement Village located at 795 Chapel Road, Howick, East Auckland. Ryman is the country’s largest Aged Care operator presently with 30 Retirement Villages. Traditionally the villages are named after famous New Zealanders. The ‘Grand Opening’ of the village was held on Friday 19th December, to which the Trustee’s were invited as special guests, along with other special guests, existing residents, prospective residents, construction staff, contractors and others. There was certainly a McLaren motor racing flavour to the evening, with orange themed special invitations, white-overalled parking attendants waving chequered flags and, parked under the village centre porte-cochere were the Trust’s McLaren Service Station workshop vintage Austin 7 and a brand new McLaren 650S Spider! Guests enjoyed a cocktail party and a selection of songs from Dame Malvina Major, along with speeches by Ryman Healthcare Managing Director Simon Challies, CFO Gordon MacLeod, and our own Jan McLaren, who had the honour of officially opening the new Bruce McLaren Retirement Village. Jan’s was a particularly memorable speech and included her personal thoughts: “Bruce was well recognised internationally, and it is great to see a tribute to him in his home city. It’s nice to see his name remembered on something permanent outside of the motorsport community. We were very pleased to have been asked.’’ A commemorative plaque in the village centre was then unveiled by Jan, ably assisted by another very special guest, Greeta Hulme.
