Many treatments are minimally invasive. Procedures include: • Anterior coloporrhaphy restores the bladder to its normal position. • Posterior coloporrhaphy tightens the back wall of the vagina and pushes the rectum back into to its normal position. • Suburetheral sling ofers relief from incontinence. Te “sling” is positioned to support the mid-urethra. • Bulking agents injected around the urethra help decrease urinary incontinence. • Sacral nerve stimulation is a treatment option for bladder and bowel control. • Intravesical botox injections are used to treat incontinence or lessen urinary urgency. Cryotherapy Our team is knowledgeable and specially trained to use innovative, leading edge treatments such as cryotherapy to treat urological conditions. Cryotherapy is a minimally invasive procedure that uses extremely cold temperatures to destroy malignant and benign tumors. Prosthetic Urology For incontinence, an artifcial genito-urinary sphincter made of silicone may be implanted. Te device has an infatable cuf that fts around the urethra near the point where it joins the bladder. Te cuf is infated to keep urine from leaking. When urination is desired, the cuf is defated, allowing urine to drain out. For erectile dysfunction, an infatable penile prosthesis may be inserted. Tis saline-flled device expands and contracts without losing elasticity. Endourology Our team of specialists uses minimally invasive techniques to treat kidney stones. In addition to removing these painful stones from the kidney, ureter and bladder, our dedicated team determines the cause of kidney stone development and works with the patient to prevent further episodes. Procedures performed include: • Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) uses shock waves to break kidney stones into small pieces that can more easily travel through the urinary tract. • Laser lithotripsy uses a small telescope and laser to break the kidney stone into tiny fragments, which are then removed by “basket” extraction. • Percutaneous nephrolithotomy is the surgical removal of stones through a hollow tube placed into the kidney. 2932-127252 BGD 9129 11/17 ©2017 Orlando Health, Inc. 2 UROLOGY SERVICES INFORMATION GUIDE General Urology Our physicians and staf provide compassionate care to patients with a number of conditions and provide many treatments and procedures, which include: • Bladder obstruction treatment • Open simple prostatectomy • Bladder tumors • Scrotal surgery • Circumcision • Transrectal ultrasound and prostate surgery • Cystolitholapaxy • Ureteral dilation • Cystolithotomy • Ureteral stent placement • Cystoscopy • Urethral stricture disease • Injection of peyronies plaques • Vasectomy • Meatotomy Our Locations Clermont Orlando Orlando Health 865 Oakley Seaver Dr. 32 W.
