    Tucker Maxon School Annual Report 2014-15 Our Mission: 2014-15 REPORT FROM THE BOARD PRESIDENT & EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR To teach deaf and hearing children to Dear Tucker Maxon Community, listen, talk, learn, and achieve excellence Last year was one of the most successful years in Tucker Maxon School history. We are pleased to present to you together. the 2014-15 Annual Report that summarizes the last year (July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2015). First, and foremost, we educated 119 incredible children in our three divisions: Early Intervention, Preschool and Elementary School (see page 4). We continue to focus on our number one goal to help our students reach their full potential. We started the year with a new shared leadership structure combining both an Executive Director (Glen Gilbert) and school Principal (Linda Goodwin), and ended the year with the strongest financial results in over 21 years (see page 2). Sharon M. Higgins, MD Along the way, we hired one new teacher, several educational assistants, an Audiologist and a Speech-Language Pathologist. With one addition this year, we now have the highest rate of LSLS certified staff per capita of any school in the West. After months of input, the Board approved a 5-year strategic plan and officially removed the word “Oral” from our name Tucker Maxon School. Four Board members retired after many years of dedicated service and four new Board members were added during the year bringing new energy to governance. We also hired a new fundraising and development team that led to a very strong year of foundation grants and a record-breaking annual appeal.

    Portland, Oregon Hints for getting around town: • East and West are divided by the Willamette River. • North and South are divided by Burnside St. • North Portland (NoPo) is on the east side of the river though. • North of Burnside in the NW, the streets are alphabetical, so next is Couch, then Davis, Everett, Flanders, and so on. • The numbers often give you a clue to how many streets north/south you are – 100 for each block (e.g., 650 NW 10th Ave. is on 10th btw. Hoyt & Johnson (remember to start w/Burnside)), or if you are on a name street, the number will correspond with the cross street (e.g., 1250 NW Glisan will be on Glisan btw. 12th & 13th). Easiest in the NW*. • "Downtown" refers to a portion of SW within the boundaries of the Willamette River and I-405, and south of Burnside St. • If you are driving, note that there are a lot of one-way streets. • The Portland Streetcar (goes more North/South) and MAX Light Rail (two lines east/west, and north/south) are free all day, every day within the Free Rail Zone (formerly Fareless Square) that includes downtown (within boundaries of Willamette River, NW Irving, and I-405), the Rose Quarter and the Lloyd District.     ICCA 15th Annual Summit June 25th – 27th; Benson Hotel Portland, OR General Agenda Sunday, June 25th: Registration will be from 12pm-2pm on Sunday, June 25th in the Mayfair Ballroom, stop by to check-in and pick up your goodies for the Summit. The Summit officially kicks off on Sunday, June 25th at 2pm in the Mayfair Ballroom. Following the General Session on Sunday, we will gather in the London Grill at 5:30pm for our Opening Reception. Monday, June 27th: Monday will begin with breakfast in the London Grill from 7:00- 8:30am before going off property for our culinary road trips. We will be departing at 8:30am. Our Annual Dinner will be at the Sentinel Hotel in the Billiard Room beginning at 6pm. Tuesday, June 28th: Tuesday’s events will all take place at the Benson.
