Martens Lab Master’s position in “Molecular Mechanisms of Autophagosome Formation”

We are looking for a highly motivated student to complement our team at the Labs/.

About the position You will analyze the molecular functions of proteins during autophagosome formation. Autophagosomes form during a process called autophagy, which is of central importance for cellular homeostasis. Autophagy plays a key role in protecting cells against starvation, protein aggregation, organelle damage and intracellular pathogens. Despite its importance little is known about the mechanism by which autophagosomes are formed. The work will shed new light on this enigmatic process.

The project will focus on in vitro reconstitution of metabolic pathways, with a strong emphasis on purification and characterisation of transmembrane proteins. We are looking for a student with a genuine interest in advanced protein biochemistry methods.
