  • Final Environmental Impact Statement Future Development and Operations
FINAL ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT FUTURE DEVELOPMENT AND OPERATIONS FORT GEORGE G. MEADE, MARYLAND June 2001 Fort George G. Meade, Maryland Directorate of Public Works Environmental Management Office Fort Meade, Maryland 20755 U.S. Army Military District of Washington Fort Lesley J. McNair Washington, D.C. 20319 .... FINAL ENVIRONMENTAL IMPAcrSTATMENT···- LEAD AGENCY: Department of the Army, Military District of Washington. TITLE OF THE PROPOSED ACTION: Future Development and Operations Fort George G. Meade, Maryland. AFFECTED JURISDICTION: State of Maryland, Anne Arundel and Howard Counties. PROPONENT REVIEWED BY: Fort George G. Meade, Maryland, Directorate of Public Works, Environmental Management Office, Fort Meade, Maryland 20755. REVIEWED BY: U.S. Army Military District of Washington, Fort Lesley J. McNair, Washington, D.C. 20319. END OF WAITING PERIOD AFTER FILING: 30 days after publication in the Federal Register. ABSTRACT: An environmental assessment (EA) prepared in April 1999 determined that potentially significant adverse impacts to traffic and air quality could result from the proposed future development and operations at Fort Meade. Pursuant to NEPA, this Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) was undertaken to evaluate, in detail, the environmental and socioeconomic effects of future development and operations at the installation, specifically planned new construction and associated demolition activities. The Proposed Action includes development and operations expected to occur on the installation between 2001 and 2005. To provide the specificity needed for reasonable predictions of environmental consequences, 11 projects were identified by the Fort Meade Master Planner for consideration within the Proposed Action as being representative of the expected build out. Alternative A consists of constructing 9 of the 11 projects, excluding the two projects least likely to occur; their elimination reduces the number of additional personnel by 272, or 30 percent of the 912 additional personnel included in the Proposed Action.

  • ARE YOU READY to VOTE in PERSON on ELECTION DAY? Montgomery County Will Open 39 Election Day Vote Centers on November 3, 2020, from 7 A.M
ARE YOU READY TO VOTE IN PERSON ON ELECTION DAY? Montgomery County will open 39 Election Day Vote Centers on November 3, 2020, from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. On Election Day you may vote at any one of Montgomery County’s 39 Election Day Vote Centers. Most polling places will be closed due to the pandemic. Instead, you may vote at any vote center. Same-day registration is available with proof of residency. Due to the pandemic, we will limit the number of people inside vote centers at one time and distance voting booths at least six feet apart. This will result in longer lines and wait times. For the closest Election Day vote center and wait-times, text VC plus your ZIP code to 77788 (Example: VC 20879). Maryland's voting system offers features for accessibility. Please ask the Election Judge about your options. Before you are given a ballot, an Election Judge will tell you, "You have two ways to mark your ballot - either by hand or with the electronic device. Which do you prefer?" You will choose how to mark your ballot. If you requested a ballot by mail, please vote that ballot. There will be a drop box at every in- person voting center, so you can skip the line and drop off your ballot. For additional drop boxes near you, text BOX plus your ZIP code to 77788 (Example: BOX 20879). You may not “trade in” your by-mail ballot at a vote center. If you requested a ballot by mail and try to vote in person, you will need to apply for a provisional ballot, which adds time to your voting experience.

  • Principal's Newsletter
PRINCIPAL’S NEWSLETTER March 8, 2019 We’re celebrating BIG this week, Vikings! As you have probably heard by now, our beloved math teacher, Mr. Greg Murach, has been awarded 2019 HOWARD COUNTY TEACHER OF THE YEAR!!!! Dr. Martirano surprised Mr. Murach yesterday, and we had a celebration for him in the Media Center with many of his students, his family, staff members, and community members. This is such an incredible honor for both Mr. Murach and our school, and I still get emotional just thinking about it. The selection process for Teacher of the Year is very competitive and includes a multi-part application, classroom observation, initial interview and second interview with Dr. Martirano. On behalf of Mr. Murach, I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge the efforts of our remarkable PTSA President, Ms. Bodziak, and Ms. Nolan, both of whom were instrumental in reviewing and revising multiple iterations of our application. Ms. Brittany Gutierrez, our math ITL, wrote a beautiful letter of support, as did countless students, staff and community members. And over and over, I heard the same message, “This was an easy letter to write because Mr. Murach is so deserving.” I couldn’t agree more, so allow me to share a few excerpts from my own letter of support: It is an honor to recommend Mr. Greg Murach for Teacher of the Year. Mr. Murach is a hardworking, caring teacher, a natural leader amongst peers, and is dedicated to serving others in and beyond the classroom. He is a role model teacher, sponsor and mentor at Mt.
