Abstract: Academic Writing is an important benchmark for measuring academic proficiency. This review paper is an attempt to provide the necessary guidance to researchers and academicians who fall prey to fake and predatory journals for the publication of their research work. A comparative analysis of various important journal metrics has been done for a defined and clear cut understanding of the involved bibliometrics. An attempt has also been made to compare and analyze the status of Indian Journals in comparison to International ones on the basis of prestige metric SciMago Journal Ranking (SJR) as far as their rankings are concerned. The outcome of this paper focuses on the problems and challenges associated with Indian Journals, their present status and the gap that needs to be abridged.
