The Kansas City Chiefs look to earn their fourth-consecutive AFC West Title in 2019 after fi nishing last season with a 12-4 record. Spagnuolo now brings more than 36 years of coaching experience across the collegiate and professional ranks to the Chiefs, including a tenure of nearly two decades in the NFL. Most recently, Spagnuolo served as the defensive coordinator of coach for the fi nal four weeks of the 2017 season. His three years coordinating New York’s defense marked his second stint in that role as he served as the Giants defensive coordinator from 2007-08. Spagnuolo’s defense helped lead the Giants to a 17-14 victory over the previously undefeated New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII.

After his fi rst stop with the Giants (2007-08), Spagnuolo was hired as head coach of the St. Louis Rams, where he spent three seasons at the helm (2009-11) and led the Rams to a six-game turnaround between 2009-10. Spagnuolo also had a stint as defensive coordinator of the New Orleans Saints (2012) and spent two seasons on the defensive staff of the Baltimore Ravens, fi rst as a senior defensive assistant (2013) and then as assistant head coach/secondary coach (2014). The NFL announced that Kansas City was selected to host the 2023 NFL Draft at the annual Spring League Meeting in Key Biscayne, Fla. The 2023 NFL Draft will take place in Kansas City in the iconic area around Union Station and the National World War I Museum and Memorial, bringing fans together to celebrate one of the most-anticipated sports events of the year.

Head Coach Andy Reid stopped by for a Q&A with Voice of the Chiefs Mitch Holthus at the event, where he discussed the upcoming campaign, encouraged fans to check out training camp reminded the audience of their impact on game day.

“I’ve never seen excitement around the Chiefs like this, it’s just fantastic,” Coder said. “There’s no better time to do this than right now.” When the Kansas City Chiefs players and coaches headed down the hill at 2019 Chiefs Training Camp presented by Mosaic Life Care for the fi rst time last Saturday afternoon, they were met with a record-breaking crowd which was eager to get its fi rst look at the 2019 Kansas City Chiefs.

More than 8,000 fans packed the grounds at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph for the fi rst practice of the year. It marked the largest crowd to watch a Chiefs training camp practice that didn’t take place in Missouri Western’s Spratt Stadium. Even when you include in-stadium practices, Saturday’s 8,000 fans was still the second-highest attended practice in the 10-year history of camp at MWSU, trailing only a family fun night scrimmage during the team’s fi rst year of training camp at Missouri Western in 2010.

Chiefs fans followed up Saturday’s record-breaking camp day with another strong showing on Sunday, when more than 7,000 fans made their way through the turnstiles.
